  • What a great cover! Hard work to better Roy Budd's version, but this is really classy! You should put it out as a single!!!

  • FABULOUS!! Good job!

  • caine and this tune are cool as fuckkkk

  • 1.05.....cool or what?

  • slick!

  • This is ACE !

  • about the best cover I`ve heard on Youtube, the dialogue just fits in nicley. well done.

i`m going to book mark this so I can listen to i again when I`m in a funky mood

  • awesome

  • Nice guit bits.

  • pure class

  • brilliant version

  • decent version this

  • Excellent - really nice version of this classic tune!

  • Classic line from this film -"You're a big man but you're out of shape"!

Great Film and a great piece of music allround. Thanks!

  • was always a favourite but this version has a bit more meat to the sound and a faster tempo. should have been used for the remake. Pity it wasn't a british production like the original. Really like the guitar sound but being a Rory Gallagher fan I suppose that makes sense.

  • Never mind--figured it out--it's my computer, However, I'd like to point out, Paul--while your bass line fits in quite nicely, try listening to it with the bass Off. I find it to be a bit more haunting and actually like it better. Tell me what you think.

  • Okay--got a question. How come some days this has a bass line...and other days it doesn't?

  • @KiddGarbage67 sheesh! cant say I ever noticed that.

  • the hit-man is on the train with carter at the beginning....

  • @MrCrispian Yes, I spotted that.

  • @MrCrispian You're right! I'd never spotted that before and I've watched the film umpteen times.

  • @MrCrispian

Christ you're right. I never noticed.

  • Blindingly good version!!!

  • Great version!

  • this is a great mix mate, well done

  • that was great wish i could down load the tune and find the tab

  • I listen to this every Friday night loud before I go out. Youy must keep it up on you page mate. Brilliant.

  • Awesome!!!

  • I.... BLOODY LOVE THIS SONG ...not a lot of people know that .!

  • Excellent!

Lots of cool details about this movie are jumbling in my mind, such as the rivalry between Caine and Hendry, whom he beat out for the lead in this film. The foxy women in this "fill-um": I think Glenda was my favorite, just above Margaret, and of course Anna... but even Edna was hot! She wore red underwear.

Thank goodness short skirts are back!

Best line: I'd forgotten your eyes - like two piss-holes in the snow.

Thanks for posting this. It's now one of my Favorites.

  • I am an average sized man but my music is out of shape. For you it is a full time job. I am going to behave myself.

Excellent rendition. Just added it to favourites. Fantastic!!!

  • Only played this video, a couple a hundred times.

You have a talent my son.

This video led me to your other vids, man, I dream of being able to make music on the guitar like you do.

Thanks for the insperation to practice more each day.

  • Brilliant film, classic , and a great version of Roy Budds masterpiece.

  • Excellent version, thanks for posting.

  • Fantastic version! I wanna give you an Oscar..

Check out Chris Riley's excellent site which gives an unrivalled guide to locations, then and now. Suffice to say there ain't many similarities.. Some people would go somewhere exotic for their holidays, especially on their birthday. Oh no, not me - I spent a few days in the north east with the site as a guide. Glad I got one last look around the car park. A big building but in bad shape.

Time for a beer. In a thin glass.

  • @getcarter1971 How do we find Chris' site? I like stuff like that.

  • love the pic of caine at 2;09 it sooo seventies, gritty, gloomy & violent very different times indeed this is my favourite movie love the soundtrack......a bloody funny thing

  • this has to be one of my favorite scores, films, and of course - what an actor!!! This is a brilliant re working. The world has changed since Carter's time, but isnt that the point - makes no difference to the music. Class - in the best sense of the word, totally in fitting with the picoral content.

  • Nah Behave yershelf....classic

  • That was worth 4 minutes of anyone's time. Nicely put together my son!

  • That is outstanding work. I never thought anyone could come close to something I'm sure Roy Budd himself would approve of God rest his soul.

  • Excellent.

  • The best Get Carter theme including all the covers, including the one from 2001 and the original.

  • Great stuff and if you like this try "The Long Good Friday"

  • "You're a big bloke but you're in bad shape. Now behave yourself."

  • you forgot ''With me it's a full time job'' part

  • good

  • Nobody does that tone/feel quite like

you Paul...you're One of a kind mate.

  • Excellent. For me the guitar's got a real early Santana feel to it. A pleasure to listen to!

  • Awesome.

  • breathtaking, what a tasteful cover, and what a sweet guitar solo! well done sir

  • Love the guitar work. Top class.

  • The Great Roy Budd........Enough Said!!!!

  • I didn't think Roy Budd's theme could be improved. I was wrong Amazing tune.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definately not ' piss holes in the snow!'

  • Straight into my favourites. Top class.

  • Very smooth indeed, with an easy cool and enough edge to be hallucinogenic. Guitar rift is superb beautifully executed with style and stoned aplomb. I like it a lot; this one's a keeper.

  • Superbly played, great video! A fitting tribute to the Daddy of all British gangster films, 'Get Carter.'

"Put it away Jack......You know you won't use it!"

"The shotgun he means Jack! lol "

"Your a big man, but your out of shape, with me it's a full time job, so behave!"

Michael Caine at his wicked best-pure class!

  • Fantastic Mate :-) :-) ...

  • That scene at 0:24 looks totally differant now, all the terraces have gone and so had the 'six chimneys' power station accross the River Tyne in the background. The Metrocentre shopping centre stands in it's place now.

  • i remember living in a flat along Armstrong road looking over towards the spot the metrocentre was being being built. at the time they were pulling down the chimneys. The curch of england owns that land I heard.

  • cool, i lived in Dunston a little way along from where the metro centre is now on the Gateshead side. I also remember the six chimneys being pulled down (must have been the early 80's I reckon) At that time the Metro Centre site was a vast wasteland and used to be used for motor bike scrambling.

And yes I belive the Church of England does own that land.

  • @stratfanatic - Which means the Queen owns it then, right (head of C. of E.)?

Great movie! Wonderful rendition of this theme, too. I'm going to listen to it often.

    You are a master.

  • @stratfanatic I went round filming the locations today that were used in the film. I have stuck them on my channel which may be of some interest!! Excellent music ....

  • @aeronuk1 its an amazing still

  • Great video and what a fantastic guitar solo!! Cheers mate, havnt heard this version before.

  • Great, great, great - as usual from Mr Rose.

  • paul roses all along the watchtower is class

  • awesome 10/10

  • Very nice.

  • maximum respect

  • Great job Paul. Very tastefully done. Cool backing track, strangely doesn't miss the tabla. The hammond (real or sampled, sounds great)and the well chosen dialogue fits perfectly, especially leading into the guitar solo. It would have been so easy to go over the top and spoil the mood, but you held back and performed a tasteful melodic solo with just the right amount of edginess. Didn't mean to make that sound like a review, lol. It just came out that way.

  • Sounds brilliant.

  • This is a great job!!! Who played the drums etc?

  • I programmed the drums with an amazing piece of software called Addictive Drums.

  • I'm staggered! To me, it sounds 'human' although I thought it was an electronic kit. Did you play all the other instruments as well?

BTW...Youv'e got a great touch and feel on the Strat! I suppose for me, you could play slightly less if anything!(Less being more of course)...Anyway, well done from someone who's quite hard to please!!!!

  • GOAT prob means Greatest Of All Time. Its a Muhammed Ali thing.

  • I see

  • baaa!

  • G.O.A.T

  • G.O.A.T?

  • Great stuff Paul.

  • Bloody lovely!

  • Those bendings, those armonics!!!!! You rock, man.

  • cookin on gasssssssssss rursie maaa saaaan !!!
