  • Pathetic how the government does nothing but watch.

  • This is disgusting & Windsor should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to their OWN city. Get a grip on reality & quite trying to suck the life out of your OWN city!

    Ungrateful, self-absorbed, pricks!!!

CUPE SUCKS!! GET BACK TO WORK!!!

  • petitionspot[dot]com/petitions/cupeofwindsor/

Help me end the CUPE strike, please sign my petition and pass it on.

  • I am so ashamed to say that I live in this city and I just want these damn city workers to come and pick up peoples garbage the whole bloody lot of them needs to be fired there are so many people on unemployment right now looking for jobs

  • U should come to Toronto, our streets are 100 times worst and we've only been on strike for a couple weeks. They are now using our parks parking lots as land fills. Its really a bad situation for both cities and hope that it ends quickly. However i don't believe that the cities should give in to the unions demands. The contract thats been put forth by Toronto is fair and realistic for the economic situation.

  • U should visit Toronto. We have been on strike only for a couple weeks and our streets look 10 times worst and now they are using our parks as land fills. Hoping these strikes end soon for both our cities.

  • Where I live the trash and recyclables pick-up is privatized.

  • CUPE sucks. I would never open up a company in this city after seeing so many fat lazy donut eating union bums crying for things they do not deserve. I hate cupe and I laughed when I heard your food bank was running dry. Burn in hell you worthless communists.

  • srry i type way to fast wat i meant to say was thanx robbiecapper its nice to know that someone understands the REAL point of the strike and doent buy into the lies portrayed by the windsor star which just so happens to be owned by a family member of one of eddies top associates

  • Great video. This is terrible for the residents who are already living in a cty with such high unemployment, is crime-ridden, and has a casino. Windsor needs a sign "Welcome to h-ll". Thanks CUPE you made it even worse here.

  • feenelfuturo Are you serious, do you realize these people are unionized all over? There goes that theory. That aside, it's easy to say no one wants to invest here because of the union, how about some examples. Who passed Windsor by or left because of the union? Fact is when union shops were at their peak there were lots of jobs, now thats changing ther is high unemployment, vacant buildings, apartments and bankruptcies.I suppose when GM closes you will blame them for the low value of your house

  • They don't want to invest here cause there is not much else here. There are hundreds of cities around with lots to offer. Investers came here with the growth of the union and are leaving with the loss of union jobs!

  • Thanks to the Union, we don't have jobs, we don't have services, no investors wan to invest here, no business want to come here. THANKS UNION!

  • You see a health risk, but the Mayor says it is under control. He must drive straight down Ouellette and a couple of quick turns home. I don't think the people of Toronto will be as eager to bring their own garbage to the dump and force a quicker settlement.

  • You're right!! Especially if the two Mayors are sticking together in the 'fight' against the Union. Yikes, looks like my trip to Toronto will be cancelled this summer! It will be Windsor times A MILLION. Gross.

  • Wolf3860, agreed. I am in the midst of creating a few videos at the moment that include alternative garbage solutions for the environment. I don't think that the garbage goes to a fairyland... are you kidding? I also think that you're right, it is showing how much we all pollute the planet, it is the perfect time to WAKE UP and start changing. I am complaining about the city workers because now the garbage is no longer contained and is creating significant health risk in the city we live in.

  • hey foxshots ... you claim there is damage to the planet and environment ... but where do you think all the garbage goes when it is collected and out of YOUR sight ... to some fantasyland where it becomes non-toxic ... get real ... now you know just how much we all pollute this planet .. do something about that instead of whining about city workers

  • Regardless of what this video says the only issue holding back a deal is post retirement benefits for newly hired employees. These working men and women are not being greedy. These workers will never see a cent from anything that results due to this strike. They are fighting for the next generation of workers. They understand that they stood on the shoulders of the last generation of workers and they are now allowing the next generation to stand on their shoulders. A selfless act that I commend

  • thanx robbiecapper its nice to know that someont understands the REAL point of the strike and buy the lies portayed by the windsor which just so happens to be owned my a family member of one of deeies top associates

  • Foxshots, I have a valid question. You describe non-union workers as some sort of bloc and generalize them in the best possible light as sick and tired of others in union shops. How many would welcome union certification if it meant a better quality of life for their families.

I've worked in both environments. I felt repressed in one and then empowered in the other. Is that wrong?

  • Hi 15evin,

No, I don't think that it is wrong. I believe in the Laws that are already in place for workers in Ontario with out having to be part of a Union. If you do not like a certain employer's benefits, you can change jobs or buy your own benefit package. Of course anyone would rather have a better benefits package for their family! But, that shouldn't mean that other citizens have to put up with this discusting mess when times are bad and everyone else is making sacrifices as well.

  • 2010 - Re elect KWAME FRANCIS......not.

  • I don't necessarily like our Mayor and some of his choices. I just agree with him on this Issue.

  • Hey Assleash good video well I mean to some degree the garbage part is horrible I think they need some Scabs. I didnt realize it was that bad thats shit. The city I left for a few of those reasons it was dirty and there were no jobs now its even dirtier and I still miss it but damn thats bad. I think it might help people do more composting but knowing that city they will through even more shit im the garbage. Take care Hope they air it.

  • The Union Workers have always rec'd more than the average worker. At one point and time Unions were helpful. But they have been becoming more and more greedy and the NON-Union workers are sick of their complaining and sick of them wasting our time and money, and making our city gross.

Just wait until Toronto gets bad and you have over 1 million pissed off citizens. Down with CUPE. You're selfish. The Mayor of Windsor and Toronto will stick together, the end is near. Down with the Union.

  • To: foxshots

How can the Mayor ask for the support of Windsor citizens when most of us are angry that this strike is even happening. Why wasn't it leaked that CUPE want to freeze wages and benefits from the start and be part of the solution yet Eddie picked this fight now. Yeah, like the taxpayers want to pay for his ditch and now the strike is tearing apart our city.

I strongly support working people and hope they don't cave to this shameless bullying...........thank you for the template.

  • I can't wait to see what CUPE does to Toronto! Our stike begins in a few days! :)

  • For the record, Eddie had the locks to all civic buildings changed by 3:45pm the day BEFORE the strike deadline and filed no board to concilliation BEFORE as well. He needed to pay for his ditch so he picked a fight with Cupe hoping to get a bargain in the process. This is a classic case of working ppl standing up to a bully with an agenda. As for those that support him, well Kwame had his followers too right up to and including his indictment.

  • How can CUPE ask for the support of Windsor citizens when most of us are angry that this strike is even happening. Now, it was leaked that CUPE is asking for $5000 signing bonus for fulltime workers and $3000 for parttime workers. HAHAHA. Yeah, like the taxpayers want you to get paid for the time that you spent striking and tearing apart our city.

I strongly support the Mayor and hope that he doesn't cave to this shameless bullying.

  • Overdramatic, and definitely doesn't show the worst of it man. Those selfish cunts should ALL be fired, that shit is DISGUSTING and unsanitary. Shame on those fucking idiots!

  • Hey foxshots, what industry will carry rhis city? A letter to The Star blamed the CAW for tool shops leaving, when the CAW is the reason why they were here. Another letter read If your losing your home blame the union, with that thinking why didn't 5 times the amount of people lose their home when there was 5 times as many of us? Our benefits support the community, Hospitals, Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Optometrists, Pharmacies, Safety Stores, etc, and all the people working for them!

  • Hey 56Goldie :)

I understand how many people actually benefit from the union and their benefits. If Windsor could move away from the dying auto industry and move towards green energy, it would be beneficial for all in the community. Windsor is Windy ;) We have loads of factory space from the tool and die industry that could be turned into Windmill production. We could be the leaders in the Nation for the green energy revolution. It would create jobs, and benefits for the workers as well.

  • Great idea, I think our Government is way ahead of you, they are already being shipped in from China!

  • Workers don't have the luxury of voting themselves pay raises or benefits like politicians, but they can fight to keep what they have. By delivering your garbage to the dump for Francis your giving him what he wants, a prolonged strike with angrier citizens blaming the workers. I would bet my last few months of work that they would rather be back to work. One thing is for sure, as Unions shrink so do the businesses they supported, heck even Hooters went Tits up,

  • you started recording at drouillard & riverside; you should've went towards whelpton & richmond in the meth clinic ghetto hooker crack bum area. there's piles of garbage around here now that make this video look weak. my friends and i bought parks&recs gym memberships and the strike began the next day.....one expensive workout.

  • Seems like people are being resented for having a job. Why are people so willing to let the good jobs go? We can't all be sales people for China and Japan!

  • Unions are so OLD WORLD. It's time to move into the 21st century where lazy workers don't get over compensated, and fired instead. City workers get paid 35% more than ppl doing the same jobs in a private sector. Quit complaining and go back to work already.

  • unions are old school?

what in the....where do you live..

    unions are everywhere

any large company or any civic structure such as windsor has a union

even historically un protected career titles such as fisherman road and construction wrkers even cab drivers are FInally GETTING IT and organizing to get what they deserve

    not more than they deserve

oh and by the way unions dont get more than they deserve just what they deserve

its the rest of you whos owners are getting rich by screwing you

  • you forgot to mention how laid back their jobs are also. 1 person does work, and 3 supervise...

  • I just meant that Union's had their day in time, and I think that they do more harm then good. I understand workers want protections, but there are laws in Ontario that protect workers already.

I say this because all I ever hear about is how unions keep people who don't deserve to be there... always complaining about 'jimmy' the alcholoic that the company can't get fire bc of the union. Also, Look at what is happening to our city... it's gross. Don't involve us in your hissy fit!

  • everyone was rewarded by all those big paycheques in the windsor area well guess what

    they are gone

    and not because of unions

ifthat were the case then why is the biggest union city in canada getting alll the new work

    explain that to me

  • goldie excellent points

you all say you would do that job for ten bucks

but that doesnt solve anything but give YOU short term relief

another good point you are all saying your tax dollars

lol without cupes and big 3 how much tax dollars dissapear

the services in this city are going to be non existent

    trust me united way alone

do you realize how much of that was funded by unions ...if you only knew

they are hacking those departments left and right

  • People who say they would do the job for 10 bucks an hour need the work and are willing to do it without a hastle. At least our city would be cleaner and not smell like rotting garbage.

The big three are no longer big. It's time for change in Windsor... you can't depend on a dying industry to cary this city.

  • Malden Park is a dump site drop off. Thats like going to the dump and filming garbage. Very lazy on your part. If you want to leave I will drive you to the bus stop.

  • This was filmed before Malden Park became a drop off, for your information... in the parking lot next to the washrooms. Very gross, and not the drop off... you can keep your garbage city and watch it fall along side the auto industry if the unions have anything to do with it.

  • To those of you who would gladly do these jobs for $10 an hour, you would be gone when the guy who'll work for $9 comes along!

  • Wages and benefits are now an issue because of the economy which is due to the declining auto industry,A lot of people made and make a good living from it from the workers, suppliers, heck without the automobile we wouldn't need road crews, stoplights, etc, think of all those jobsj. People are against helping the industry saying "It's my tax dollars" ,maybe it's our own tax dollars coming back to help us, afterall this industry has generated way more billions of.tax dollars than it is asking for.

  • unfortunately union workers dont get to pick and choose when they forfeit their paycheques to support all workers everywhere

    their employers do that

and your mayor knew this would be a good time as to make them all look bad

but luckily all of us non cupe workers

the majority of this community understand what these people are doing for us

the rest of you are just too ignorant

    but

rest assured while you go to work they will fight your fight for you

but they knew it going in

  • The future CUPE city workers were not ever promised benefits after retiring... because they don't even exsist yet.

I just think that it's time for everyone to come together and realize that this is not a good time to be going on strike, we should be pulling together as a community instead of tearing ourselves apart and dividing the city into Union workers, and NON Union workers. IMO, Unions are bring us down and stopping any kind of forward momentum in this city.

  • The future workers should be hired under the same contract. You talk about pulling together instead of dividing and then bash the union? The Union does a lot of good in this community, Our Local 1973 has The Community Chest which fundraises for groups like The Canadian Amputee Hockey Team which had some local players. We had volunteers for The United Way, Goodfellows and always contributed to gate collections for The CNIB, needy families, sick children etc.Can you tell me who will continue that?

  • So this is how the mayor has everything under control? Is this the new trend, take concessions and give up what you fought for and were promised? Before you hit me with "In this tough economy", our government has no problem adding and raising taxes ,voting themselves raises and just plain wasting money.

  • What does Cupe care most of them dont live in Windsor to begin with I hope to those who do that your children get attacked by a racoon or sprayed by a skunk because of your patethic self-centered attitudes.

  • foxshot, i was referring to blingchachink93, not you !

No, i do NOT work for CUPE.

  • OMGosh. My mistake. I thought you were directing that comment at me... and was very confused :|

    So sorry... eeep.

  • I am truly disappointed with this city right now. Being a high school student, i would move as far away as possible from this city as there will be no jobs left in the future. WHat really pisses me off is that we ALL pay our taxes. CUPE just wants more money for its workers for less work. THis is UNION GREED people. This is unacceptable! Where do our taxes go to? At least the workers had jobs in such a tough economy. This is just utter bullshit (pardon my language but i believe its true)

  • You're in high school, you know nothing about paying taxes, or unions, or what that union is even fighting for.

They are fighting to ensure future workers also get benefits and a retirement fund. That has nothing to do with them "wanting more money".

If everyone felt "just lucky to have a job in this economy", then we would all be making minimum wage, because we should just feel so lucky.

You need to mature and grow up a bit more before making bold statements like that.

  • what have we become.

    *_*

  • Wow, CUPE really cares, I'm surprised the people of Windsor haven't started dumping the garbage on the lawns of CUPE workers. Wait...I hope I didn't give anyone ideas!!!

  • Thanks for the comments guys. Mr Craig, you're right about how Windsor has failed in attracting new buisness here. This has also driven a lot of young people from Windsor to other booming cities for better opportunities.

In my opinion, we should be attracting Wind Energy production and farming here. It is the perfect place, and we could dub ourselves "Wind-Soar" or something like that. We could take this opportunity to revamp our city and be a leader in the Nations efforts to go green.

  • I think it would be interesting if someone made a video about how the city has let itself fall to pieces. Aside from this issue, the city of windsor has done a piss poor job in attracting other business outside of Telemarketing Firms. Perhaps city officials should try to do more then announcing how excellent it is that Sutherland is in town.

  • They aren't striking for a raise though, aren't they striking to ensure that future employees get benefits just like they do? I'm not so sure that constitutes saying they argue for a raise.

  • Fantastic job....hey CUPE try being grateful for having a job while the rest of us struggle. The people are behind you City of Windsor.
