  • Super!

  • what a bored crowd. the blues audience is always like this? just asking,I'm not joking on anything.

  • bassist very look like blackmore

  • the bassist looks like blackmore...

  • Holy! He's something else!

  • Looks like it's the world Federation of wrestling crew again arguing about which guy is stronger faster better. Its music students go argue over a sports team because there is plenty of that around. I'm sure JW couldn't give a shit about what any of us thinks.

  • A year before this I traded my Epiphone Wilshire in my quest to get a Strat. Johnny demonstrates that these are serious guitars. Of course the the great players don't even need great guitars. They can wow you with a bucket and a string.

  • I can name a hundred great rock guitarists and then some. But when you put JW

in a group of blues, then there are still a lot of crossover blues players, but you have to

delete Howe, and Blackmore. And Wurzel Burston of Motorhead. I had not idea

until today the Motorhead musician died in July of last year.

  • looks like edgar winter.

  • @JRaab311 - Man, you're smart! Of course he looks like his brother, they are both albino's! Dumb motherfucker!

  • @RobertFCrusader ya no shit, haha tell me to get lost. obviously you know nothing about music saying george harrison wouldnt recognize a guitar. Go watch your naughty time videos you ignorant fuck.

  • @JRaab311 - LOL, you took that seriously? You're even more stupid than I thought.

  • @RobertFCrusader blah blah get out of here with your idiot remarks.

  • Johnny is in the top 100 list from Rolling Stone nr.76! as a lead guitarist. . And George Harrison 21...It should be the other way around. Harrison wouldn't recognize a guitar if he SAW one!

  • @JRaab311 - Why don't you get lost, asshole?

  • @RobertFCrusader Agree with you. I luv George Harrison, but even he was modest & said he really wasn't that great of a guitarist, nor did he play music like this. What Johnny did and does (seeing him tonight!) is more sophisticated. Those lists are wacky anyway...how do you place X person at 20 and another at 50? I think that being on a 100 list is good enough, and they leave out many more.

  • Just awesome .. Love Johnny .. Always have always will .. Quality of this video is fantastic

  • I like Johnny but the studio version is so much better.

  • i love you YOUTUBE WOW

  • So inspired by this dude. Johnny Winter over Clapton any day of the week.. Prince is pretty badass too!

Check out johnny's version of jumpin jack flash.. It's amazing. And he has a wild shirt on. Baha!

  • @jaybowcott i wouldn't compare him and clapton necessarily...they approach the blues a little differently...JW is more aggressive, Clapton smoother IMO...both greats at what they do either way u can't go wrong...I like the Prince comment, he is a good player but never heard him stretch out on the blues

  • yeahhhhh, babyyyyyy, ahhhhh...!!!

  • I do like it, im the 99%

  • One of the best bluesmen of all time!!!I would have liked to see him live at woodstock,he's simply great=)

  • Es asombroso. Me gusta mucho la manera de tocar de Johnny Winter y este es un gran show.

  • I'am also among the lucky ones who saw him live, it was in Toronto Ontario back in the '90s, could be '92 or '93.

  • Is there more of this concert on you tube?? great quality..

  • @1959child I totally agree, the quality is awesome, man, how is it possible, it was shot in 1970!

  • @TosiekDegutis yeah quality is really clear for 40 yrs ago

  • Incredible!

  • Guitar hero here.

  • Saw him live a few months ago. Even at 67 he's still got it. The man is a legend.

  • Guitar hero!

  • How often do we forget Johnny Winter when we try and place the great guitarist. God has blessed us with so many. I just wish they wouldn't burn out so fast.

  • @johnhrey52 You are so right man. i was luck enough to see him twiece in the 80`s just blow my mind. and like you say people never heard him . just to say Slash is so far away from him.

  • @markriobr what does Slash have to do with this??

  • @sixsixxsixxxx friend Slash has nothing to do with what i said. it just see people doing their lists of guitar players and Slash is there .think people never heard Johnny Winter that`s all

  • @sixsixxsixxxx by the way thanks dude , if wasn`t your comment i would never see that clip. he was very young at that time...GREAT

  • @johnhrey52 lots of overlooked greats or at least those that dont come right to mind...Gary Moore (R I P)...Trower, Frank Marino...in the blues-rock vein anyway...Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton...

  • @sixsixxsixxxx you are right about that just to name a few . Mick Taylor(ex Stone) Duanne Allman,Steve Hunter,Robin Trower that played for Procol Harum,Alvin Lee and even Prince that nobody mention he is an awsome guitar player

  • check out the audience, THET R TFU

  • I just don't think there ever been any one better

  • Is he albino?

  • @EvolutionIX219 yep...

  • @EvolutionIX219 yes i believe he is...so is Edgar

  • The chick @ 2:14 looks stoned. :P

    S.M.S! (So Much Soul!) :D

  • Epiphone Wilshire 1966!! =D

  • In Europe, they still know good music in the 21st century, unlike here in The States ;(

  • @trowerz or you're just old

  • Is that RITCHIE BLACKMORE on bass?! lol

  • @1958marky no b/c blackmore's HUGE ego wouldn't allow him to play behind or even with another player

  • 0:34 Mike Myers! :D

  • I can play this...... on ma air guitar

  • Something about how he plays this song...made for each other.

  • love me some j winter!

  • never get tired of jhonny

  • Jesus FUCKING christ ... inspiration man right here. Unfortunatly i just discovered this great man at 18 .... what took me so long fuck.. better late than never though.... thank you miles on miles for mentioning this great soul...

  • Cold bumps came over me for some strange reason. When a white guy can sing (and especially play ) the blues - it's just amazing. You only have two types of white blues musicians, those that really rock and those that really suck!!!

He's white? I had to ask, sorry!

  • Find me another guitar player who could play like this....a few get close.

  • @popcornbilly stevie ray vaughan :D

  • Nice.

  • 5:18 WAHHHH ahaha

  • I swore to God Johnny Winter was a black man. This is a surprise

  • One word - HOT

  • Comment removed

  • @MsScintilate

    Or Cool? :-)

  • 20 dumb bastards are just not ready for this >)

  • I saw both brothers together, F-ing amazeing !!!!

  • He's so white, and yet, so black!

  • One of the best 'fluid' guitarists to ever grace a stage!!!!!!!

  • They could use a rhythm guitar. Johnny's best licks come not during solos, which contain too many archaic "flash" licks, but rather in the phrases he adds at the end of vocal passages. He's lookin' healthy in this vid which is great.

  • '

    ✰ ✰ ✰ ✰ ✰

    muito bom!

  • I've always heard of Johnny Winter, but more as I got older. On radio and other listening source it's been more Stevie Ray Vaughen, Jimmi Hendrix, Steve Vai rarely, Van Halen, and others, but never hear to much Johnny Winter on radio, unless he is coming into some town performing. I think he is underrated considering how great his voice and playing is. The whole band sounds great.

  • * * * * *

  • Hendrix did not 'cover' Red House - he wrote it. The reason this sound s similar to you may be because they are both filled with many of the standard blues licks and feeling. Johnny Winter was always the best hands around.

  • :o

    johnny winter

    with a wilshire.

my life has been made guys

  • anyone else think this sounds extremely similar to hendrix's cover of red house? both the guitar and the vocals.

  • @WhoIsPine No. I think Hendrix's "red house" sounds extremely similar to BB KIngs "Be careful with a fool" though.

  • This Man is a white afroamerican!!!! Because this kind of doing is impossible for the white men... It is simple on true ingeniously

  • GREAT! All I gotta say.

  • 1. The audience needs a kick in the balls to wake their lame asses up.

    2. Johnny has just taken us to fucking school.

    3. Did you learn your lesson? I did. I'll never be able to play like this.

  • @beautifulsarah100 why not bro? its all about time

  • I know johnny played a twin, but does anyone knows anything about his pedals?

  • Damn, it's nice to see Johnny young and pretty and giving it his all.

  • grande entre los grandes, para ti ricardo

  • Damn Boy !!

  • YEAH!!!

  • YEAH!!!

  • Johnny always shocked me as a bluesy player, but there's something else I can't quite explain it. I guess you'd have to have it in you and play live to know what I mean.

  • Man... all i need now, is just smoke some weed...

  • 0:32 best smile i've ever seen.

  • Johnny and the boys are playin their guts out and the danish look like they would rather be someplace else.

  • @vatti902 Danes*

    They're high as kites :P

  • @Krygeryo haha right on!

  • Me cago en la puta!!

  • Your a fool if you dislike this.

  • Miss u Unc...

  • I.FUCKING.LOVE.YOUTUBE.BECAUSE.OF.GREAT.SHIT.LIKE.THIS.

  • @phantom5691 It's so true. What a gem of a video. YouTube rules for this reason!!!

  • @phantom5691 It's so true. What a gem of a video. YouTube rules for this reason!!!

  • That's not a strat, it's an Epiphone Wilshire.

  • @Xlion901 That's right. Try and get one for a reasonable price these days. Fuggedaboutit...

  • @beeroosterm Nice pick. You were bang on.

  • I think this is the first time I saw him play a Strat.

  • @revkev def not a strat

  • @syiunshi Yup, you're right.

  • @syiunshi I believe it's an Epiphone Wiltshire

  • A prime performance, I first saw him in 1971 and I was hooked on the blues ever sense.

  • Is there anything else Johnny could have done to further prove he is one of the greats? Covered all the bases with this one.

  • who says blondes can't play the blues?

  • I was ten when this was filmed and these were good days.

Johnny Winter was that Stevie Ray Vaughn of my generation...

Or maybe I should say Stevie was the Johnny WInter of his generation.

    Either way - FANTASTIC player.

  • oh god... after hearing this I´m gonna take my telecaster take down all strings and put my tele in a chamber next to our broom and mop... love johnny winter

  • Are the people in the audience stoned, or just not able to comprehend what they are hearing? The first time I heard this song on 33.3 LP I played the grooves off the platter listening to it. This is my favorite of Johnny's early cuts. Wow!!!

  • @hewhobarksatdogs - The audience is a bunch of stoned out Danes. Johnny is rockin' the house and they just stare into space. Silly strawheads!

  • This guy has some rockin' licks

  • Tommy Shannon looks like Ritchie Blackmore

  • @BrotoBro I am a hardcore Blackmore fan and that's EXACTLY what I thought!!! He even has the kind of shirt that Ritchie would wear!!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah... playback-less that time, just pure sound with analog amps and distortion/pedals... thumbs up all the time

  • I just saw him live yesterday

  • Love it, Great ol' BB king tune! Wow their timing as a band is perfect, even Winter's impromptu voicings over that lead were freaking spot on! I'd love to hear this live in concert with today's technology ...it's a bitch to play that good on technology that old but he makes it look bloody effortless and it sounds great ...only heard one missed note ...but it was so good I can't really call it a missed note he just plain rocked it.

  • Thanks, Great tune!!

  • Thanks, you always give me a good feeling

  • Holy Crap this is amazing. He does it so effortlessly, yet touches me so deeply.

  • natural as breathing

  • reminds me of bill steer

  • Johnny Winter!! totally awesome

  • None of the Danes in the crowd seem to be interested. And they look creepy to boot.

  • go johnny go great overlooked blues man from the soul tru the heart out the fingers,go johnny go!

  • @Drawnboyify Only guy that can make the "Blues" Cryyyyy Yeah there's a way lotta different ways to feel the Blues ven little kids can get the "Blues" That's a quote from B.B. King.

  • Jhonny winter longfingers is there rigth below Stevie ray vaughn and Rory gallagher on toph!! Incredible!

  • @Dieseldyrre IMO..Better than STV or RG!!!! Plays like SRV only wished he could have been like!

  • On Johnny Winter's amp, there's medium, loud, and testify. Great video.

  • master!!!!

  • This blues anthem by Johnny is the equivalent of Red House by Jimi... EPIC!

  • @rawzone1 yeah except this is a BB king song that came out long before red house.

  • @rocknrolla81 Thanks for the info ~ can't believe that I did'nt know that! I'm listening to BB's version right now... Thanks again... ♥♪♫♫♪☺

  • Only thing I dont like about this song is when he doesn the peewee-herman "Im the hamburger!" "Im not sorraayy"

  • The bass player looks like Ritchie Blackmore's long lost twin brother.

  • FUCK ME !!! It's Austin Powers at 30 seconds !!!

  • Look at that crowd just sitting there while Johnny's taking them to fucking school.

  • The audience are stoned beyond comprehension or on valium lol

  • Ya gotta be careful with 17 people around here.

  • Ein vom besten leben Taten aller Zeit.

  • Worlds ugliest man. Amazing guitarist.

  • @snakeweirdo WHAT!?! Johnny Winters is fucking GORGEOUS.

  • Tommy Shannon bass and Doc Turner on the drums.

  • This is such a great video! And I love the crowd shots of the chicks. When I was an innocent 17 year old, the album with this song ("Johnny Winter") was a staple in our stack of recreational music albums. I got to see him several times back in the day, too.

  • /watch?v=Ocv5WdBmSok

  • Tommy Shannon is a monster bass player !!!

  • @toko1415 whoa whoa whoa, did u listen to the song or what?

  • The best guitar solo ever...period.

  • The best guitar solo ever...period.

  • Shoutin' the blues!!!

  • Great video. Saw him in '70 here in Rochester, NY. He opened for Steppenwolf, and they had lost some of their equipment in a road accident, so they sounded really of out of it. But Johnny, with his brother Edgar on drums no less, more than made up for it! What a show!

  • Wow...that was great...I have a lot of his old records and it's wonderful to see footage of the man, laying it down just like a train...So good.

  • Black people can't play the blues for shit, white people can't even play with feelings.

    Only blue people got it.

  • @Fetcha200 How can 'you' know his true colour when he's albino...? Guess that means he chose his own colour, and chose it well cuz he looked inside to find it! Smart man in my opinion...and gifted as well.

  • @Pihasanddunes1 of course you are making a mistake. There are a lot of different kind of blues, there aren't all the same! (and of course I like this song)
