Not to break bad with anyone, really I'm not, but the actual (translated) lyrics of this song ('Tis a maiden that cries',etc) (We sleep safely til morning, however men can be so ever cruel) illustrates the hardships a woman faces on earth (When a male sings it, the sanctity of the song doesn't come through. That's why I think Barbara's version is better.

This is an arrangement by Helmuth Froschauer. Knowing that, you might be able to find a more easily findable release...but I do know this song is on the VBC album entitled, "Ave Maria".

I went to the link to "download this song" at iTunes (also checked the one at Amazon) - both go to the wrong album, and when you listen to a clip, you can tell it's a different version. But if you search iTunes, it does have the right version - thank you for the album title! It's Vienna Boys - Ave Maria and this is the version that's just over 5 minutes. Does the album cover tell you the name of the soloist?

This really is one of the best versions of Ave Maria, it almost seems like Schubert's version was written to be sung this way. You can't beat a boy's choir version. That really is the only method that does it justice.
