@SuperSketch008 Earthworm Jim's first appearance was in video game form in 1994 on the Genesis and later ported to other platforms. The cartoon "based on the game" came out in 1995, therefore that answers the question.
Differences in MF version: - Mario power-ups ,coins, & checkpoint - altered palette for both enemies and level - some areas slightly resized - Different backdrops and water fx - Several enemy breeds' AI altered - Way more shrimp - No crabs - Completed altered enemy layout for final stretch. - Megaman scrolling system missing - Different projectile sprites for bubbleman - Room before bubbleman redrawn to squeeze in power-ups Think that's all of them.
Just wondering what makes game maker better then MMF2 ? Is game maker free? I'm using MMF2 to make a game myself inspired by you guys, and although I'm no master coder it seems like I can make pretty much any game I want with it. Although I do like that blurry esque filter.
I'm amazed at how close JS got Bubbleman to behave to the original routine and attack pattern, with the same swimming, blaster shots and bubbles. I think its a cool and unique idea to be able to pick up the bubbles and throw them back.
Mario swims. Megaman leaps underwater.
One other thing I've spotted. Megaman breathes bubbles, Mario doesn't. Which is quite bizarre seeing as Mario is human and Megaman is a robot... (shields himself from Megaman fans).. well sort of.
Hey JosephCollins. I'm intruiged by your offer for pallete editing the post 4 Megaman enemies.. I'm prepared to pm you with details for your contributions but you're set to only having friends pm you. Check your invites :)
Ah! I did that because I kept getting spam PMs from random people about the most inane things... ANYHOO, I've accepted your offer, so fire away if you'd like. The funny thing about Wily Wars is that 90% of the sprites are just recolored to 16-bit, 12 color MegaDrive format, so doing that to other existing sprites shouldn't be too hard or even take too terribly long. STAGE backgrounds, on the other hand... XD
I'd say the change in some colours and backgrounds also make for some well improved differences. The Wily Wars background and colour scheme for Bubbleman seemed so bland and dark.
OMG look at the left. I never See That Mario Level Before!!!!

Mario's better at it than Megaman! ;P

Mario has a mobility advantage in the water since he can actually swim, but megaman can take more than 3 hits :P

Isn't the background while Mario is underwater from Earthworm Jim?

I'm pretty sure it is! I hope EWJ gets more recognition in this series as time goes on.

He won't. The creator said that no characters originated from TV shows will be in the series.

I thought Earthworm Jim was originally a game character.

I think he was orginally a TV show character, but I might be wrong. Either way, there's going to be an EWJ level in this game anyways.

The conversion from megaman to mario was EXTREMELY accuarate, from what I played *In lag* JudgeSpear is doing a pretty good job.

It's an engine issue. In most (if not all) Mario games, Mario IS supposed to spit out air bubbles every once in a while.

1. background is different and better in MSF
2. opening section seems shorter to me (might be you just cut it out)
3. frogs don't have three way shot in megaman
4. no crabs
5. area before boss changed
a few other minor ones, but pretty dang close
texanfan2777 3 years ago
Some differences:
*Some enemy placements.
*The vertical areas widened from 256 pixels to 320 pixels in SMFusion.
*No crab robots in the final area in SMFusion.
