Cute but misguided. Musical stairs mean kids & tourists playing on the stairs and cause users to take the escalator in preference. It also gets irritating if you use them every day.

The real solution is to replace the escalator with a sliding elevator box which can comfortably carry wheelchairs, pushchairs, prams and help the less able - preventing people from using it as a short cut and saving electricity as it is only moving when in use.
