I am a Moroccan Sufi but I don't believe in human saints. That's a fake emulation of Christianity. I believe you should love God and not be afraid of him but this type of Sufism raises a lot of concerns.

I would like you to bring proof either from the quran or the teachings of the prophet muhammed that support your empty accusations. If you honestly knew what you were talking about you should base them off of facts. It is true that certain corrupted groups and governments commit horrible destructive acts in the name of islam, however these people do not base their actions off of these beliefs, rather than personal interests.
Historically, however, they have been known to force conversion upon anyone who isn't one of them. Forcing Islam on people, especially with death threats, is NOT what I want to live with.
Take for instance the recent example of the Christians in Iraq fleeing. They were being forced to convert to Islam or face death.
IF the Muslims stayed to themselves, (and had been historically known to do so), I'd have no problem with them; but that's not the case.

Ok, so let's compare Sunni Islamic Law to A) a reformist movement who denies the traditional law and B) Shi'i islam. I can't speak about Iran because I'm not a Shi'a, so you're going to have to find one to talk about it. But Islamic Law makes it obligatory on the state to protect non-Muslims and muslims alike. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "Whoever wrongs a Dhimmi (non muslim) in this life, I will be his prosecutor in the hereafter." So clearly, Islam does not tolerate abuse against Dhimmis.
Muslims obviously believe in God, and therefore believe that the overall result of one's life is based on those who believe in the truth about him and follow his teachings. That is not to say, however, our behavior is rude and intolerant towards disbelievers.

A jizya is a special tax imposed upon people who are non-muslim, and traditionally it has been more burdensome than paying the zakah. Islam uses taxes to divide people. But that's the least of its problems.

It could be argued that even Christianity (my religion) was expanded "by the sword" during the Crusades. Of course, it is often over looked that the beliefs held by the "Crusaders" is utterly contrary to what the Bible teaches.

The crusades were to recapture the holy lands from the muslim hoard that had overrun the area a few centuries previously. They weren't to spread Christianity but to guarentee the safe passage of pilgrims who wanted to visit the holy places. That and (like all wars) power, money and land.
I'm from Philly orginally. There were no HIPPA laws then and I'm not disclosing any medical info now and this man. But I can say that the hate and fear is totally unjustified (especially of SUFI's as I understand them).
What I found odd at the time was that all these "professionals" were 1. very kind 2. very smart 3. very commonly "AMERICAN" as you see in the interview. This interview deplicts this well with what I personally remember of this man, kind, peacefull and giving me a book and a history for himself (and his beliefs) that I never forgot and I'm able to share here (which is real weird). No I'm not a muslim (I'm Episopailan). He had private doctors at his beside as I worked on this man in ICU.
Wow, Thanks for posting this. I was an ICU nurse who took care of him on his death bed! He gave me a book (which I since lost) about storys, childrens storys. I remember him well, even though it was in 1986. He was tiny and old. No one knew how old he was, somewhere between 110-125 (I'm telling the truth). He spent over 40 years in the jungles alone where he communed with nature and animals (which was what his writing was about). He had a huge enturage (sp) of professional followers.

Historically, however, they have been known to force conversion upon anyone who isn't one of them. Forcing Islam on people, especially with death threats, is NOT what I want to live with.
Take for instance the recent example of the Christians in Iraq fleeing. They were being forced to convert to Islam or face death.
IF the Muslims stayed to themselves, (and had been historically known to do so), I'd have no problem with them; but that's not the case.

Ok, so let's compare Sunni Islamic Law to A) a reformist movement who denies the traditional law and B) Shi'i islam. I can't speak about Iran because I'm not a Shi'a, so you're going to have to find one to talk about it. But Islamic Law makes it obligatory on the state to protect non-Muslims and muslims alike. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "Whoever wrongs a Dhimmi (non muslim) in this life, I will be his prosecutor in the hereafter." So clearly, Islam does not tolerate abuse against Dhimmis.

Secondly, you have to look at the benefits non-muslims receive in Islam. They have the right to practice their religion fully. They are protected by the government against any violence or insult. Insulting their religious figures (in public) is an offense in Islamic law. They are allowed to establish their own criminal courts.

A jizya is a special tax imposed upon people who are non-muslim, and traditionally it has been more burdensome than paying the zakah. Islam uses taxes to divide people. And the Jizya is explicitly said in the books of Hanafi fiqh to be light and not burdensome. And Jizya is a lot less burdensome than military service. It's not a tax to divide people. Hell, the "state" (if you want to call it that) can help build temples and places of worship with the Jizya money. You're completely misrepresenting it.

It could be argued that even Christianity (my religion) was expanded "by the sword" during the Crusades. Of course, it is often over looked that the beliefs held by the "Crusaders" is utterly contrary to what the Bible teaches.

The crusades were to recapture the holy lands from the muslim hoard that had overrun the area a few centuries previously. They weren't to spread Christianity but to guarentee the safe passage of pilgrims who wanted to visit the holy places. That and (like all wars) power, money and land.

What I found odd at the time was that all these "professionals" were 1. very kind 2. very smart 3. very commonly "AMERICAN" as you see in the interview. This interview deplicts this well with what I personally remember of this man, kind, peacefull and giving me a book and a history for himself (and his beliefs) that I never forgot and I'm able to share here (which is real weird). No I'm not a muslim (I'm Episopailan). He had private doctors at his beside as I worked on this man in ICU.

Wow, Thanks for posting this. I was an ICU nurse who took care of him on his death bed! He gave me a book (which I since lost) about storys, childrens storys. I remember him well, even though it was in 1986. He was tiny and old. No one knew how old he was, somewhere between 110-125 (I'm telling the truth). He spent over 40 years in the jungles alone where he communed with nature and animals (which was what his writing was about). He had a huge enturage (sp) of professional followers.
