I've been lucky enough to have visited both New York and Tokyo, both are fantastic cities, mind blowing even, but London grabs me by the heart. Its places like Covent Garden and Camden, there just are no places like these anywhere else in the world.
Oh my god guys shut the fuck up. It's been on many magazines, London, New York, and Tokyo are the alpha cities. Shut up, stop saying they're better, who gives a shit.
London has every thing that NY has and more. We have much more history here, cleaner roads and underground. There are 32 London Boroughs from Westminster to Bromley (which is NOT in Kent!). Some parts of London are villages like Biggin Hill for example. We have very big parks and commons. We have trams in Croydon, the new Olympic Stadium - something we won against NY, St Pauls, Parliament, 5 International Airports, Trains to Paris, Oxford Street and much more!
NYC is nice, perhaps friendlier and with nicer weather, but tacky, loud and bloated; now apt centrepiece to an ugly, obese, financially doomed country riddled with the disseminated vascular disease of greed and stupidity.
London is now the place to be, provided you have the money.
There's a burgeoning, select hi tech overclass in London whose lifestyle surpasses anything NYC has to offer (that is, excluding the 6 or 7 or so people at the pinnacle of the great banking institutions in NY - you know, the ones screwing over your country and engineering devaluation of your currency).
Then there's the old school, city types, as in the film "Match Point" (2005) who like the sedate, classy lifestyle.
London offers a broader mix of experiences, if you have money.
I am a Indian Muslim I love London It is a greatest city in the world. and I totally respect British people British Law they are nice with Muslim or other human beings.......................but FUCK AMERICA
bro it dont matter how old london is chicago has twice as much history as london chicago was the meat packing capital in the world and the fire pole was invented here and dont let me forget mc donalds and a hole bunch more. chicago was also voted the best runed city in the world. what does london have? olny the revolutionry war? and the tower of london comon.
@travisbigTolison American cities are lack of history compared to real classic arts and long history of European cities. It would be tremendously arrogant if you claim Chicago has twice as much history as a place like London that contains 4 world's heritage sites and has 2000 years of breathtaking history and ancient architecture. US is such a young country, it is only 229 years old. London was founded in AD 43, there is only 1 another city that shares the same global status with London, is NYC
London really does have it all; Fashion, Finance, Retail, Culture, History, Cuisine, Entertainment, Sports.... a link to the sea, a world reaching aviation hub in Heathrow, an extensive underground network, world class universities, the worlds largest media hub (via the BBC), literary greatness in Dickens and Conan Doyle, hauntingly beautiful and peaceful cemeteries, and a track record of embracing and embodying every ideology, social movement and nationality on earth. London. What a city.
@kamilbc Rome and Paris may be more beautiful, but London is more important, more entertaining and much better than those boring, dull museums you call Rome and Paris, lol.
@Jadcardie hah lol it's not much important it's just overrated ! guess u've never lived or been to rome if you think thera are only museums and those boring things... you're wrong !
@kamilbc Yes, it is the most important city in the world, along with New York, the only two Alpha++ cities are LDN and NY.
Paris - now that's an overrated city - with nothing going for it, apart from its beauty, that's all it has to boast.
London is beautiful in parts, but people seem to forget it got bombed in WW2, unlike Paris and Rome.. so we lost a lot of buildings of great architectural beauty.
Yes, I have been to Rome, I especially loved the graffiti everywhere, lol...
Ive been to Rome and your transit system is rubbish. Yes you have great history and museums. Great cuisine and famous sites. Rome is a great city but your public transit system is a joke- sort that out and you can claim to be a better city. And Rome is nowhere near as international as London or Paris and you are not a major financial centre. sorry...
Chicago has more history than London. Are you joking? London was ALREADY 1,300 years old when the Black Death struck it in 1349. London was a bustling metropolis and the capital of a vast empire by the 1750s when Chicago can't have been much more than a small trading settlement. You can laud Chicago's architecture perhaps but its just plain absurd to suggest it has more history than mighty Londinium.
chicago was voted the sports city of 2010 at least our zoo is free we have the tallest bulding in america and the tootsie rool company is here we have the best pizza and hot dogs ect. i could go on and on what does london have humm?
Despite having a smaller population, Chicago has a murder rate at least 5 times as high as London. Chicago has much less international political importance and its financial importance does not compete with London or indeed NYC. London also has a much longer history and is more diverse. Don't get me wrong.... my perception is that Chicago is a great city with many things to offer but there is a reason it does not rank with London.
I stayed with my brother who lives in london for 4 days, and the transport system, buses, tube and british rail service is fantastic and Oxford street is huge. It cost £3 for an all day any transport service, and bought at a newsagents shop!.London zoo was an amazing place which took 5 hours to walk around also Windsor castle which must be the most popular castle in the world by the numbers of people who were there.
man chicago has the best food the tallest buldings and way more stuff to do than london and london has reggedy streets and boring stuff some of the best singers are from chicago london is boring
Im sure Mexico City has many great things but its crime levels are much higher than London and its political or financial importance is not as high. It is much bigger, but there are reasons it is not ranked higher than London. It is also more polluted.
I am American, and I am from New York. I was considering moving to London, as I love history, however, I also love shopping, clubbing, and the nightlife New York offers, and I am not sure if I will get that in London.
Absolutely. The British capital has just about everything one can imagine with the exception of its own theme park (something Paris has). It can be pricy but if you look, good deals can also be found. The great thing about London is that it cannot be cliched in any way. There are some similarities with the Big Apple; both London and NYC have a strong maritime history, both are the great cities of superpowers (Britain in the 19th century, US.. now), both are major political
political centres and NYC and London are the ONLY cities to be ranked Alpha++
NYC may be much younger but it is naturally a partner to London. In my opinion, London, NYC and Paris are in a league of there own though many other cities can still be considered great. In regards to nightlife, London's West End (equivalent to Broadway) is a hive of activity. London has its flaws, but for the most part it is a truly great city.
We certainly have theme parks in the UK and im sure there may be at least one in the London Region, though it doesn't come straight to my mind which one that is. Metropolitan London (ie inc the 'Home Counties' of Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire) covers a major population of about 14 million so there is definately many attractions in the region as well.
@JagopersonOfficial u like clubs and shops... you will love london...many awsome things about it. clubs are awsome and u can basicall pick up any one and shopping is just basically shopping at new york...litrelly
@JagopersonOfficial The nightlife in London is notorious. Nobody in this world loves clubbing and drinking more than Londoners and the city offers every thing there is in the world from jazz, rock, techno, to hip hop, rnb and 60's music. Everything from the old stuff to the new stuff. The entire city is filled with cafès, clubs, pubs, you name it. And don't even get me started on the shopping. Everyone in Europe that wants to shop, travels to London. Not Paris or Milano, but London.
@JagopersonOfficial I live in London and it really isn't anything special, yes we got lots of history, museums and parks but the novelty wears off! I would love to live in NY
@ut91 As they say 'you like what you don't have'. I am sure that you would feel the same after living in New York for a few years. That is the case for me but with New York - the "novelty" wears off - so I am moving to London. Also, New York and London are too world cities, so if you are bored of both then I am sure city life is not for you as they have all that a city can offer.
I just want a change really - I am bored of NY, and London is the only other city in the world which can match NY
@JagopersonOfficial No, London does not have shopping, clubbing and nightlife. You see, America invented all that and it hasn't been imported here yet. We all make our own clothes and appliances and only dance around stones in a field. Please come to London and help us, Mr American man. :)
@JagopersonOfficial wake up boy this is reality even in some unknown cities they all have shops london has the largest shopping centre in europe "westfield" bars clubs oviously the population is massive
the city of London is with out a doubt ,the largest gathering of thieving criminal scum ,dressed in suits ,that the world has ever seen ,it is were every filthy dirty trick and dirty deal is done the world would be a much better place ,if it was flattened in the morning
No London IS the biggest city in europe russia Isnt europe they are to big to be a european country mostly coz most of it is in asia its the biggest in westen europe anyway and Heathrow is the the second busist airport in the world
Hi, i don't agree with you, because Russia is in Europe, but mostly of its part of Russia is Asia. You should to know,Moscow is in Europe.......use satelite map,or some other options(example).Wich is busiest airport on the world,if not at London!?
a chicago is the moast diverce city in america we have the best food ,police, fire and sports teams and geuss where the new transformers movie is being filmed CHICAGO BABY!
Transformers? Big deal... only Paris, Los Angeles, NYC and possibly Moscow have had as many films either shot or set in them as London. There are at least three film studios within the London Region and there is not a year goes by without at least one international film being set in London; this year alone I can name Harry Potter, London Boulevard, Made in Dagenham....
great European cultural centre, and has a much lower murder rate than the majority of American cities. Im sure Chicago is has a lot to offer, but in my view London is un-matched. It has the financial power to match NYC and the history to match Paris- the other two greatest cities in the world. Moscow, Istanbul and Tokyo are great but lack the internationalism and diversity of London, Paris, NYC or indeed Chicago.
Tokyo is massive but it doesn't have the same international/cosmopolitan ambience of London, Paris or NYC. Likewise Moscow is great but it doesn't have the same air of internationalism.
a great video!.... showing London at it's very best, but those deserted Roads in parts of the clip were joke... it takes me about 30 minutes just to get through Baker Street sometimes lol!
@travisbigTolison chicago ha ha dont make me laugh you guys haven't even got a proper Underground system.London is the most visited city on this planet and until we know about other aliens ....the Universe ....I rest my case
@PalladiumTV No offenses.. But underground don't count for much to me. London is prolly amazing don't get me wrong. But i'd rather be on ground..than in artificial lighting? Plus huge cities are overwhelming, theres not much to enjoy except fun nights and running around all the time. I prefer to be away from millions of people..
Respectively I disagree. London has a much longer established history, has the worlds 1st/2nd largest financial sector, has hosted the Olympics 4 times, was the capital of the largest empire in history, has hosted numerous major international summits, and is (with the possible exception of NYC) the most diverse city on earth. It is a capital, the seat of the British Royal Family and is ranked joint with NYC as the Alpha world top city. It also has the romantic appeal of a
Well what would beat it really? NYC may be visibly more impressive but it doesn't have the same wealth of history. Paris has the history and romance but it can't match the energy. Tokyo is enormous but cannot claim the same diversity.....
@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 nyc isnt more impressive. i find a building or monument thats still standing after so much time is more impressive. the computer chip board method isnt that great. and paris doesn't exactly have history to match that of london let alone the great things london has achieved and still achieving, maybe their churches though (im french by the way) but pairs is definitely romance!
I certainly agree that London is a great city and as a Briton, im pleased to call it my capital but im interested why you don't think Paris has much of a history? My impression is that Paris has a very vibrant history- the 1789 revolution, 1848 revolution, Franco-Prussian war, the occupation during WW2, student protests of 1968 and the riots of 2005; and there are many other significant things I haven't mentioned. Paris is definately is definately the capital of romance.
No it isn't. The second city has a lot to offer and deserves a lot more credit than it gets. Of course its not in the same league as London but I would call Birmingham a great European city.
In that case all I can presume is that you get bored very easily? I live in Sunderland which is a lot smaller than Brum and has fewer attractions but I never get bored here so its hard to see why anyone would get bored in Birmingham. Even if history isn't your thing, there is no shortage of cinemas and retail facilities etc. I was in Birmingham yesterday at the Thinktank. Had a very good time.

@fsedehi1 People from Britain mostly emigrate to Australia or the South of France, Very few people by percentage emigrate to the USA.
But many people from the rest of world do want to move to the USA because of the American Dream Myth that they endlessly sell to the world.
All the smart people come to Britain ...apart from the asylum seekers and refugees who have different reasons for coming.

@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 Cool, and I heard there is a theme park near London! :)
JagopersonOfficial 1 year ago
@JagopersonOfficial

I would love to live in NY
ut91 1 year ago
@ut91 As they say 'you like what you don't have'. I am sure that you would feel the same after living in New York for a few years. That is the case for me but with New York - the "novelty" wears off - so I am moving to London. Also, New York and London are too world cities, so if you are bored of both then I am sure city life is not for you as they have all that a city can offer.
I just want a change really - I am bored of NY, and London is the only other city in the world which can match NY
JagopersonOfficial 1 year ago
@JagopersonOfficial No, London does not have shopping, clubbing and nightlife. You see, America invented all that and it hasn't been imported here yet. We all make our own clothes and appliances and only dance around stones in a field. Please come to London and help us, Mr American man. :)

travisbigTolison 1 year ago
@travisbigTolison
WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 1 year ago
great European cultural centre, and has a much lower murder rate than the majority of American cities.

Tokyo is bigger but doesn't have anywhere near the diversity of London.
And you are naming countries, not cities. I know there are older cities than London, especially in the Middle East but it is still an ancient city.
Damascus for instance may be older but it doesn't have many of the things London has.
And in true London spirit, WE DO DARE

Well what would beat it really? NYC may be visibly more impressive but it doesn't have the same wealth of history. Paris has the history and romance but it can't match the energy. Tokyo is enormous but cannot claim the same diversity.....
WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 1 year ago
@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 nyc isnt more impressive. i find a building or monument thats still standing after so much time is more impressive. the computer chip board method isnt that great. and paris doesn't exactly have history to match that of london let alone the great things london has achieved and still achieving, maybe their churches though (im french by the way) but pairs is definitely romance!
jibberjabberman 1 year ago
@jibberjabberman

WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 1 year ago 2
yup i live in birmingham and dno where to go :D except city centres
tremendously boring town theres no one on da street after 9 pm i cant believe u clam dis great european city? lmfao
1234567loading 1 year ago
@1234567loading
