My family labeled me stupid because I couldn't grasp math. I always thought I was really stupid for years, now I can finally understand math, the visual way. Thanks!
I also work with elementary children and I think what your doing is awesome. It's good to see that you see the times tables as important skills for life. Keep up the great work.
Learning the times table and getting comfortable with numbers makes a huge difference in life. I have been thanked by many people in their 30s, 50s, and recently a 70 year old woman who has been embarrassed all her life and is excited as she is finally learning her times tables.
See my 2s and 8s videos to explain mathematically how number circles work. A good example is the car odometer that tells how many miles you've driven. There is a separate wheel for ones-digits, tens-digits, hundreds digits, etc. Another example is older electric or gas meters. Google images of them to see their number wheels, or watch my Digits video. Enjoy!
I hear you like the Mister Number videos and would like to order the book in Malaysia. Go to my website (misternumbersDOTcom) and you can pay for my book and DVD with Paypal or visa or mastercard. I ship to most countries. You can also order the book on Amazon. Enjoy!
I love it! I got the DVD and EZ times tables for my daughter. She'll pause a math video game and reference her EZ times tables for the answer. She no longer has tantrums when learning math! 5 stars all the way!
I'm glad you and your daughter love the EZ Times Table and videos. My experience is that when kids create the times tables based on the Ones and Twos, they trust it. They take ownership. They are not feeling pushed but you are following their learning and curiosity. Congratulations!
It perhaps make more sense with number line and just have number jumps every other 3 or 6 or 9 etc. to see the pattern this way kids can see clearly what digits so 2 numbers share the common factor etc.
To make a NUMBER CIRCLE, make a circle (draw around a small plate or use a compass). Put 0 at the top and 5 at the bottom. Mark the far left and far right points. You have divided the circle into 4 pieces. Equally space 1&2 around top right, 3&4 around bottom right, 6&7 around bottom left, and 8&9 around top left. You are ready to make STARS (4s & 6s) and PENTAGONS (2s & 8s) and FANCY STARS (3s & 7s).

Definitely makes sense to see the patterns in many ways. Every kid sees patterns that turn on the light bulb in their head.
