  • No words can tell you all how much I LOVE this track!!!!!!!!

  • sinistrão

  • he's a really great man

  • not the father of techno but definitely a great great uncle !! Walter Carlos, Edgar Froese, Klause Schultz, Pink Floyd and Pete Townshend all delved into the synth programming in the late 60s .. but I love JMJ's classical mastery over his array of technology .. he has the touch of the auteur

  • @solomonsRHman Totally agree, but don't forget Kraftwerk.

  • 285 Millions D'euro Bernard Tapis

  • it's a good music

  • this album came out in the eighties....its now 2011. This guy is way ahead of most electronic music. Kraft werk came int the act in the eighties..I would love to see this guy live.

  • @devilfan1965 For your information, kraftwerk born in 1970, his first album came out in 1974 and considered one of the first groups to make electronic music. the first to do so was Leon Theremin in 1929. You should research well before writing crap, you idiot.

  • @narcosatanico thats funny, so kraftwork made an album when he was 4? go listen to the album dripsody, which came out in 1955, then pink floyd's Piper At the Gates of Dawn, that album was almost all electronic. kraftwerk arent original at all.

  • @ErikEntropy yeah, ALMOST. Not quite IT, though.

  • JMJ is the God of music....

  • does this guy just have one song?!

  • @Luvinita90 Have you tried typing his name in youtube just to check ? :D hint : add oxygen or equinox ;)

  • 20 people have no idea what Electronical music is!

  • The best show of them all.

  • 3:44, just look at him, just look at how much he enjoy it:D

  • About time this guy should move with the times

  • London Docklands - late 80's. Stood in thick mud, seemed like a million people. Whirling dervishes, projections on buildings, just brilliant. Revolution!

  • J'adore !!!!

  • How come at 1:44 when he stops breaking the beam the note continues to play on?

  • Very nice vidéo!

Thank you for your visit to my channel. ♥·٠•●♥Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ♥●•٠·

  • Maybe poor editing before the video was shown but I 100% believe the laser harp is real. I also noticed the protective gloves and glasses.

I can understand ppl thinking it's not real due to the amazing light show during the concerts.

I do wonder about the eyes of the audience though. Don't they suffer?

  • Master!!!

  • Le 14 Juillet.... une fête electronique!!!

  • @Salsachiqui

    Check out this!

The laser harp's first little steps.

This guy has it right in the head, but it's good. :-))

  • Le king de la music electronique ;)

  • RELAX IS REALIT.

  • This is pure awesomeness!!!

  • yeah but, for example, this song is called rendez vous 2, LA DEFENSE. I mean, the previous part has some title, too?

  • Poker Face

  • FAKE!!!!! Check out 1:41. He misses the beam but no extra note was played!!!!!

He is still one of my favorite musicians though.

  • @peterismobiel He have musicians.. ! So i eat the 25/11/2010 with him (a)

  • @peterismobiel I did notice that too and also heard that JMJ had problems with the laser harp all day, listen to 0:31, it sounds like a warble a bit unnatural for a laser harp, so it is most likely he is miming or the editor has dubbed over the recording with either a studio track or a re-recording to mask over the problem.

  • @RollinRolex

JMJ has been my favourite for many years. Rendez-Vous-II has been such an inspiration for me, that I am now building a laser harp myself!!!

  • @peterismobiel Wow, good luck with that :)

(PS - I think Destination Docklands had a similar problem, people commented that was so poorly edited that it looked as though he was miming).

  • @RollinRolex

THX. I'm gonna need it :-/

  • what's the title of the previous part of this song? the chorus is amazing!

  • @Shaarme00 It's all one song and it's called rendez-vous part 2

  • Love this 90's sound

  • Great album. No douht. But the effects do not match at all with the music. Too 80's retro. Yeah. I guess it is a french thing. Personally. I would of went with a 3D anime, and of some kind of escape, rather than the Walt Disney theme park ending like he done.

  • Now now children.... or I'll send you to your room!

  • He was ok in 1984, but lets be honest we could all produce better stuff than this using a simple music package on our laptops. And we would n't need dark sun glasses or ridiculous macho posing to fool people it was actually music.

  • @outfreeman093 then go ahead and do it, smart arse and get rich quick..... YAWN!!!

  • @MrMorlaf

Well said sir, you strike me as a bearded and somewhat chaotic old gentleman :D

  • @outfreeman093

I Don't know who you are...but you sound the kind of guy who composes reggae on his mobile phone!

  • Thats it. Lasers are the future of everything.

  • When did this take place??

  • Switch to see my videos. •●* ♥ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄ ♥* ●•٠"

  • j'ADORE!!!

JEAN MICHEL JARRE EST UN VERITABLE GENIE DE LA MUSIQUE ELECTRONIQUE

  • the father of all electronic music

  • @karaokekongen the father of electronic music is Pierre Schaeffer

  • @karaokekongen not, the fathers are Kraftwerk.

  • And the result is house music who can be made by everyone!

    MTV is full of them!

I need back artists like JMJ, Vangelis, The KLF, The Prodigy... every one who made from electronic music art!

    Not the mixers from today!

Even dance music, then they have a voice. Now they made from shit a hit!

  • @chrysthyan77 That made very little sense.

  • rick wakeman is the name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but jean michel jarre is good too.

  • The BEST of futurist music ღ

  • he is THE BEST!

  • ROHH !!!

  • @TheAztecLast VAYA QUE ME HAN LLEGADO VIEJOS RECUERDOS, ERA YO UN CHAMAQUITO CUANDO MI PADRE ME PUSO A VER ESTE CONCIERTO Y ME QUEDE FASCINADO, HOY EN DIA SOY MUSICO DE PROFESION Y NO SI SI HAYA TENIDO QUE VER QUE MI PADRE ME PUSIERA COSAS COMO ESTAS PERO ME VOLVI AFECTO A LA BUENA MUSICA !! JMJ GRANDE !!!

  • It is great and sound like bach most of the time.

  • vraiment génial ! créativité , technologiquement irréprochable !

  • this guy is 20th century mozart. Thats it, end of discussion. He wins

  • @Prosthetics100 Yes. He wins.

  • @Prosthetics100 I take it you don't know much about Mozart then

  • @Prosthetics100 I couldn't agree more! :)

  • @Prosthetics100

  • @Prosthetics100 pfffffff

  • @Prosthetics100 he'd be the 20th ctry beethoven

  • Cyberpunk!

  • hope you all were in Paris i 1989! This is the revolution plus 200 year concert 14 july !989 not!!! 1990

  • About 15 years ago, I saw Jarre on video at my cousin's and I'm effing pleased as punch at seeing him in action again after all these years. Back then, I found it interesting and appreciated it greatly. Now, I find it completely overwhelming. What a spectacle! It's so amazing how we live in an era when you can perform in such a futuristic fashion. I'd love to have a go on it. You could play a tune and have your own mini Pink Floyd show all at once! Is that a type of theramin at the end?

  • 10 mins before this concert began I walked out onto the front of the stage and saw 2 million people along the Avenue De Neuilly and the Avenue de la Grande Armée, all the way to the Arc de Triomphe. What a memory. All listening to the sound I did on the Synthex triggered by the laser harp

  • wat exactly is this dude playing????

  • ZiggyZouy:

Jean Michel Jarre the king of synthesizers normally plays flute, although here it's a laser harp O_o

  • @ziggyzouy

its a laser harp(synth) he plays it like a normal synthesizer but its more spectacular this way. its hooked up trhu cabeling to a normal synth and he controls the tone hight and lenght by breaking the laser beams

  • The modern genius of music is Jean Michel Jarre!

  • Waoo I remember i was there. It was fun.

  • we all have different taste in music so its silly to argue over who is "better". but you have to give jmj credit for his incredible imagination and creativity

  • Nows thats a genious at his best there!!! JMJ forevaaaa!!

  • unbeliveble!!! simply amazing!!!

  • impressive

  • 3:00 za nejvíc.

  • epic concert is epic. Genius composer is genius.

  • beau souvenir

  • beutiful ^^.

  • To say that DJ Shadow is a master of "electro" and Jean Michel Jarre is "far from" being one is absolutely ridiculous.

Jean Michel's compositions are akin to classical music, only transported to electronic medium, it's obvious to anyone with two ears, or even one; DJ Shadow is not even a composer per se, a lot of what he does is sampling.

Give us all a break please.

  • I think JMJ and Vanghelis are the best modern composers, folowing the great ones like Mozart Beethoven....

  • It's not even the same "league", you can't compare them, Jarre is not a classical music composer. Have you ever heard of Lutosławski, Messiaen, Penderecki, Boulez, not to mention some earlier 20th century geniuses like Pokofiev, Shostakovich, Bartok?

  • The composers are separated by time periods and technology available. Maybe its not fare to compare them. But the great ones in the future will become, let say... ancient, and the ones today... clasics of digital era. My remark was general, not particulary.

  • I LOVE JM, but i definitely agree with you.

Geniuses like Bartok or Pokofiev are in another league.

  • Fantasztkus!!!!!!

  • jmj best concerts ever....

  • Mein persönliches Lieblings-Intro :-)

  • He is the man one of my favourite artists god of electronika nasa have built most of his instruments

  • poezja muzyki elektronicznej cos zajebistego

  • The god of Laser himself

  • just amazing how that man´s mind created that kind of music in the early 90´s..amazing...

  • laouk6, I do not mean to split hairs here, but this video is an excerpt of Rendez-vous part 2, which was released on Rendez-vous album around 80's. :-)

  • laouk6:

Even more amazing how he created "Oxygene" in 1977 :P

Jean Michel Jarre jest czlowiekiem z przyszlosci;) Jean Michel Jarre-future man.Ta melodia jest piekna-wspomnienia,mysli,nastroj,a wykonanie perfekcyjne:)

  • yes jean michel jarre is french

  • awesome!!! saw him at zürich... it was amaaaaaaaaaaazing!!!!!!! his lighting show is better than ever one i ever see!!! incredible!!!

  • French

  • This music is really great! Increadably well composed!!

  • not sure composed is the right word for electronic music. more like programmed

  • Comment removed

  • well, with Jean Michel Jarre it is composed. At 5 years old he study classical piano. At Lycée Michelet he took lessons in harmony and counterpoint.

    He uses mostly Analog synthesizers.

  • And the tiny fact that his father is film composer Maurice Jarre might be a clue to his pedigree! However, whereas classical music is all about live performance, Jarre is more of a showman. His music is very tight though.

  • french people are hella gay

    just putting it out there

  • ya fuck art this is america lets get bombed and watch FOOTBALL!!!

  • C'est tout simplement génial....

  • Brilliant ! i remember watching the concert on tv! back then this sort of thing was amazing to hear ! a lot of us had never heard a laser been played for music ! He bought music to a new level, it would be hard to be original as him

  • This man is a genius,he does pull some odd faces at times though

  • is a genius...

  • Chocante !! Demais !!! Adoreii...!

  • talking about yourself dude?

  • this is amazing!

  • I don't think you guys quite understand the laser harp. It's not fake because by breaking the laser beam Jarre can trigger a synthesizer to play a note. No one ever said that the laser beam itself is producing the sound. That's impossible and if anyone said that's how a laser harp works then they're wrong. It's nothing more complex than activating a remote synthesizer by breaking laser beams.
