that bouncer broke several laws, some criminal, some civil, Assault for pushing the girl to the ground, theft or robbery for forcibly removing the camera, destruction of property / willful damage and possibly copyright laws for deleting the photos. regardless of the mistakes the student made, none of them were illegal, this is about photographers rights. What the Thug employed by the pub did was break several laws, I do not feel sorry for him, and he deserved to loose his job, PERIOD!
what everyone here forgets that it is perfectly legal to take pictures in public of anyone, the only time that taking a photo of someone is an invasion of privacy, is when there is an expectation of privacy, for example, in your own home, a bathroom, change room, ect. There is no expectation of privacy on a sidewalk, on a street, or when outside a bar in a public place. Absolutely regardless if this was a planned action, the re-action of the thug...pardon me, bouncer was illegal.
First they post the parents address.. now this, -"I think we should wait outside of the school with a couple of bats and show these bitches what assault REALLY is. It also makes me mad becuase you can't just shoot whoever you want as a photographer (i'm a filmmaker) not everything is meant for reality tv. people just treat everyone else as subjects. They were looking to get a "golden" shot of an angry bouncer but it was fake and provoked and they deserve everything that comes to them imo
Whoa, check the laws again, you CAN shoot however you want in a public place, there is NO expectation of privacy in such a case, the question that remains is what can you do legally with the photo or video, it is misconceptions like this that is damaging photographers rights. Get it right!
I don't know who makes this the dumbest story ever.. Talentless wannabe intellectual art lesbians or over-weight went-nowhere football players stuck making $11/hr.
The problem is alcohol. It makes people violent. We need to return to alcohol prohibition. yup booze is more dangerous than Cannabis, so let's return to the good old days of Al Capone.
Looks like Tyler Munford's brother took commenting option off his brothers YOUTUBE account. He says his family was threatened!!! After he started doing research and posting people's names the same thing happened to him. His address and brother's facebook page was posted. Looks like he got angry.
@Oilersfan26 I agree with you. However, there were no threats, I was online and the one that asked if he was from a particular area of NB. As soon as I made the comment, page was disabled with the comment about "Threats to family" being the reason why comments were disabled.
I would say, if your intention is to get up close and personal to a "big ol angry....face" then you better be prepared to be up close and personal with the angry rest of the person you are provoking.
It would still be illegal. And again, a bouncer's job is to prevent trouble, so I hold them to a higher standard for this kind of thing, especially when they're on the job. Am I wrong?
Can't use the argument of "his job is to prevent trouble" and at the same time say it was on a public street so it's leage for them to flash camera's in his face.
The intent was to see how bouncers would react to a perfectly legal, if annoying, act. Is that kind of a shitty thing to do? Sure. Yes. But the fact that he lost his job is entirely due to the bouncer's own actions. The other bouncers they photographed that night did not react this way. It was this bouncer who decided an appropriate reaction to a flash bulb was assault and theft. You saw those two on the news, they're hardly physically intimidating.
Anyway you slice this they went thier with a preneditated plan, inacted it the result of which cause a bouncer to act in such away that he was dismissed for placing them in harms way. Should the repercussions not be just as severe for for the children who's actions actually caused this event to occur? uumm (spoilt, egotistical, Brats) the school need to watch its Daycare their sneaking out.
@ MoGleek, the theft happened when the camera was forcibly removed from her posetion, and the assault happened when they took the camera away from her, if not before, and yes, holding a person down when you have no legal right or standing to do so, IS ASSAULT!
The Tyler and Stella thought it ok to go to this persons workplace and incite a reaction from him (which had an end result of a person losing their job)
How is that any different (other than being legally and morally right) from going to NSCAD, and presenting them with a list of people who agree that Tyler and Stella should know that their actions are not ok, will not be ignored and that there will be consequences?
This discussion is so inflammed and over the top as to be ridiculous. Good gracious- there are much more important things to be worked up over. You have opinions and speculations but you truly do not know what the students intentions were or were not; and the fact remains that the bouncer overreacted. Should he have lost his job? Probably not. Should he and another male have held a young woman on the ground and taken a piece of property that did not belong to them? Definately not.
Pointing out that what the bouncer did is illegal is not clouding the issue, paying more attention to etiquette than the law is. Was the bouncer justified in being confused and upset? Yes. Was he justified in assaulting them? No, and that is the letter and spirit of the law. Provocation (and this, in the grand scheme of things, is hardly provocation) does not excuse assault and theft.
I have not heard a police officer say that any such event did occur.
And the ones you are supporting also have announced that they will not be pressing charges. (If there was a case for it, would they not attempt to charge someone?)
There are more factors than simple untruth which can lead to not pressing charges, but I think it's pretty clear from the video and the theft of the camera that the bouncer far, far overstepped what he was legally allowed to do in the situation.
Well, as far as I can know, if proof an assault had occured, or theft had occured... the police have to press charges.
Yet no charges have been pressed.
So anything otherwise would be speculation.
The petition is merely a call for consequences for the actions of the two who dragged a person's reputation and job through the news and internet for 3 days, only to run and hide when their true intentions are uncovered.
They had to go through the cops to get the camera back and a man tackled Stella to the ground to get it from her. That sounds like assault and theft to me.
she wasn't tackled she dropped on her own to make it look more dramatic u can see the bouncer move in a completely different direction then stella ducklow, then she kicks him then he takes the camera from her who is not the owner back over to tyler munford but the video ends, then it was said that tyler munford ran away without the camera or his backpack trying to keep his video camera (which contained his whole load of bullshit) away from the bouncers.
Every court would find him guilty. It's illegal to assault anybody for any reason. Being annoying does not justify assault. That's like saying "I beat my wife because she asked for it".
@GraphicsGeezer There we go with the generalization of bouncers again.
I am in fact a former bouncer, and I do not need my head checked.
However, I do know the legal system, and you perhaps should try picking up a book? When you go into a situation with the proven intent to provoke a person to "punch you" (as tyler spoke himself on the internet) There is no court in North America that would uphold any assault charges on you.
You can't ask someone to do something to you and then charge them
You lost sight of something here, as a bouncer, i would dearly hope that he had the ability to control his anger, and he did not, he may have had his photo taken, and that, however annoying, was perfectly legal, he broke many laws in the assault, robbery and destruction of property, that means, he attacked the girl, removed the camera from her forcibly, and deleted the photos. check it out, that's illegal, taking your picture in a public place is not, sorry to spoil it for you.
this is all on NSCAD, they need to teach their students to be unobtrusive when going out in the streets taking pictures, NSCAD needs to teach their students about some ethics.

Also, in terms of responsibility, it appears at least that Tyler is mostly responsible for this going down. Not to absolve Stella's actions, but I don't think blame can be apportioned evenly here.
so there are 2 things here that need to be addressed. while i agree that it does seem that all this was pre arranged and that some type of disapline should be taken against tyler and those who helped him, there is also the issue of the bouncer taking the camera when he had no right to in the first place. there was wrong doing on both sides and both should be accountable for their actions.

In addition, this has cast a negative light on the school as a whole, at least for me. If this is the kind of students they turn out, maybe I should rethink applying.
haha, i love how the other side of the story was finally shown. too bad this came back to bite tyler munford and his lovely girl actress in the ass. and how could this be a load of BS? he didn't even want to comment on what was found, had it been in his favour he would have been on the news again in two seconds. he knows he's caught, and his 15 minutes of fame are up. if this goes to court i hope he has some deep pockets.

I hope to see a counter on Tyler and the others, and to the girl that says she got scared and is glad he was let go...... dont sign up for more than you can handle, or did you get scared after what looks like you kicking him in the face
You'll notice when she makes that comment her eyes dart around...She doesn't make eye contact with the camera or the reporter. It's clear that she's lying.

Essentially: if a bouncer can't deal with a few tiny, sober art school students legally taking his photo, he is a shitty bouncer.

And try this scheme to piss off any regular joe... You will see similar, to much more extreme results, I assure you

Another account created mere minutes before posting...
Tyler? Is that you?
Damage control in full force?
Sorry, Tyler and Stella have brought this upon themselves.
Held her down? (We've also heard claims of her being shoved down) which from accounts on the scene are completely false.
I hardly see her being held down. They grab the camera and left her be.
They planned to act being hurt (Tyler wanted an actor to help him up after being hit) How do we know She didn't take a dive?

He didn't steal the camera. They knew who had it. And it didn't sound like it was much of a struggle to get it back. (from the news)
However, you, me, and everyone who wasn't there do not know for sure.
The only ones who do are Tyler and Stella, and they have suddenly gone silent since the revelation that they are liars and scam artists.
And the doorman, who has not, a week later, probably will not be charged.
NsOilFan 2 years ago
Some of the bile that's on here and the petition to get them expelled might be part of the reason for their silence as well.

I must be missing the bonus footage where you see Stella get thrown to the ground.
If anything, looks as if the bouncer is slowing her fall (im sure with your preconceived notions of bouncers, this will be hard to believe)
And yes, the bouncer did take the camera, if only to get the simple request that they had made of Munford and his cronies done.
In the end I will side with the bouncers side of things, rather than know liars

No human being has the right to assault another human being.

Do all of their students go out and do this?
No... just two of them planned this out, plotted this out and acted on these plans.
NSCAD's responsilbility is to punish these two individuals who used a school project as the reason why they were justified in doing this. Period.

Oilersfan26 2 years ago
She is well aware of all that was being done here. And yet she continues to answer to the media and trying to paint this bouncer as a bad person.
The school can make the choice as to who deserves to be punished, and to what severity.
These two both went to the media and she was a main part of the scheme.
NsOilFan 2 years ago
In the petition we ask for either a failing or expulsion from the school for the blatent misrepresentation of the school and the programs within it.
NsOilFan 2 years ago
If you think this only applies to bouncers...
Try this with anyone in a public place, standing four feet away from them, flashing a camera with no explaination.
In this technological age we live, pictures can go anyone and have anything done to them.
As many people have already said, what the bouncer did was tame compared to what they would have done.
And you are niave if you think your wouldn't somehow react.
Because it's a bouncer, society immediately assumes it's overreacting.
