  • Is this some sort if joke? If I wanted someone to tell me WHO TOOK THE PHOTO what's in MY PHOTO then I would have asked myself, this video, is it in reply to my previous comments? Because if so then that's a fu*king joke. And to top it off, there was a fifth picture you know, but you were to busy delivering a fantastic critique to my other photos to notice, all I have to say us fuck you!

  • @Owendart1 Well you said in your e-mail that you want him to be harsh. In fact you said "[be] very harsh, please!"

Dom has always wanted people to name their images that they send in. He always says "If you can't take the time to name them, why should I take the time to critique them?" Instead of disrespecting him you should be thankful he's doing critiques at all. In the end you learn something from every critique, even from this one. And that's what these videos are all about, so THANKS DOM !!

  • @Owendart1

Stop being a whiny idiot! The rules are clear when sending photos for critique, Dom has mentioned them enough times!

  • @mportillo27 There's not much of a difference in sillyness in both of them, Dom hates photos without names, Jared hates cropped photos or photos without "boomey" contrast in a very stubborn way, and that seems way more subjective than Doms critiques.

  • @mportillo27 Can't see any difference, Dom hates photos without names, Jared hates cropped photos or photos without "boomey" contrast in a very stubborn way, and that seems way more subjective than Doms critiques.

  • Dom, just wondering; but did you recieve my message regarding an update of the critique-photos? Cause the first photos I sent you is now over 5 months old, some of them, and I've updated it with som newer and better. As you say: No reason to critique old work which isn't that good.

  • Names, titles, or captions are important on pictures. "The Photograph itself Speaks" is not enough to present a photograph. Untitled or unnamed images leads the viewer hanging.

I know this because I'm a photojournalist here in our country. No matter how beautiful or perfect a photograph can be, but if there's no name/title/caption, it will mislead a viewer and/or reader.

  • @baguiopunx I think you're spot on. If all you care about is the technical aspects of your picture then a name doesn't matter but clearly Dom is critiquing more than the technical details. In fact he prefers taking more time for pictures that are technically good and trying to understand the story behind them.

  • Hi Dom, firstly thanks for the ALL great videos, for me especially the real estate photo pointers, as so many Property Agents, including myself take such rubbish pics, BUT thanks to you and few others I am beginning to learn HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE. Secondly the one on the Fluid Head review, was spot on for me as I was going to buy that tripod. FINALLY, please can you tell me the software you are using for this video tutorial, as it looks much better when the presenter can also be seen THANKS

  • @vinvin121, thanks for the kind words. I use a software called screenflow.

  • @Dombowerphoto Ty for goodvids! quick question how do i know if the color resolution is right on my screen? cuz when i print it out the colors are different... ty!

  • Why wait for the views...? People can always go back to watch older one first... This is Youtube...

  • No Dom! No!! :( You were only a few away from mine! I've been waiting months :(

  • I don't understand why names are so important on pictures. When I look at pictures on websites with slide shows, there is no name on the picture unless I look for one. Same think for songs, art, speeches!

Who would dismiss Symphony no 25 or symphony no 40 because of there un original names?

I believe a picture should speak for it's self and theses pictures did not do that, so no having a name did not help either.

Hopefully nameless pictures are not an issue if the picture are good!

  • @soncep I would say nameless are fine, as that can be part of the dimention of the photo, but leaving a photo with the camera file number is just pure lazy.

  • @soncep I think names are important atleast in some pictures. I have pictures that are kinda dull and boring but when explained with a name they jump to life because you understand the action.

  • @soncep names are important.

Symphony no 25 and 40 are both names.

Not naming your photos is uncreative.

If the picture is good why not name it. It makes no sense to have nothing to address something buy.

A photo can speak for itself and still have a name.

Fantomas and Face Candy are the only bands I've seen that don't name their songs and that's because your supposed to listen to the album as a whole.

  • That was his shortest one yet. For once it's nice to see someone be strait about it. Like Mr Dom says be proud of your work.

  • shortest critique yet?

  • hahaha....i bet he was excited to see his name come up and then thought crap.... i should have named my photos...keep up the great critiques Dom I look forward to them always...
