Something occurred to me yesterday. I remember hearing a Thunderbolt going off on a Saturday when I was playing basketball at a friends house in Allen Park. I wasn't expecting to hear anything since it wasn't the first Saturday of the month. We all stopped for a couple seconds, looked at each other and kept playing. I assume it was this siren we were hearing.

usually they get used to it happening at the same time so if they notice it going off at another time, its for real and they should be prepared to take action.

All of Wayne County except Melvindale and a Refinery Plant in Detroit test monthly at 1:00PM every first Saturday of each month.

I think its because its the tallest building in Melvindale and they wanted a siren to be placed high so it would cover the whole city I suppose. This is the only siren Melvindale has.

This siren runs in alert signal only. So no there is no way how I can record Hi-Lo. That would be cool though.

well sure there is, just ask around, contact the ?CEM, City hall, Fire Department, & or Police Department & ask if they could let you record the High-Low Tone.

If they say no then thats just that no harm in asking

we have thunderbolt's. but I have never seen

one that was a 1003. but I belive there are a few 1003's where I live. I live in Kansas city Kansas.

Every Thunderbolt other than our town's sound really menacing.

Our single tone 1000 sounds really wimpy compared to lower toned 1000's and 1000T's.

awsome vid Dan. that Thunderbolt sounds great. i seen on another youtube video that Federal Signal is supposed to bring back the Thunderbolts. Whether or not that is true, i don't know. according to the vid, the new Thunderbolts are gonna replace the 2001s.
