@ Sbrbot - in SL they are referred to as either Alpha Texture or Transparent Textures, I used this terminology so that people understood what I am talking about. Saving a file as .gif will not give you "transparency" in SL.
Your're talking about transparency not alpha channel. There's a difference. Alpha channel could have partial transparency (requires PNG format). For transparency only, one can use GIF as well.
Thank you for the great video! I didn't know about that nice Select->Grow->1 pixel to tidy up selections. I usually just increased the threshold of the wand tool, but this seems to give better results. =)

I do all this, i think.... but when i try to upload it, the transparent parts are white, not transparent, what do i do?!!??!

@brikinz10 (1) make sure its saved as PNG and (2) Save background color is unchecked.
