  • We call those fish sunfish, or perch here in OK. They are small but very good eating. Most people don't mess with them because they are so small. They are easy to clean. I just scrape the scales off and then remove the head and clean out the entrails. Remove the fins and the vent but leave the tail on. You can wrap them in foil with some butter and seasoning or you can pan fry them. They are boney but very good eating. It takes a lot of them to make a meal but they are very easy to catch. Thanks

  • @wdmyers3 Thank you my friend, Reggie

    Thanks, Reggie

  • มันมีสาระมากเลยคับ :))

  • What if you use the water from the river to wash yourself rather than using toilet paper? Will it cause any harm?

  • @alMuhalla Probably not my friend as long as i do it down river from where im drinking but if i have toilet paper i will probably use it

    Thanks, Reggie

  • In my opinion thats probably as big as they're gunna get considering the body of water you are fishing in.(noticing its a stream of some sort would probably mean that only some fish pass by in certain seasons) As for eating those fish, I would suggest you at least try some to get some experience around cleaning fish. Scale them, clean them, butterfly them over the fire.

  • @skiie That is true my friend Thank you

    ,Reggie

  • That is great! I made a raft almost exactly like that this past summer, but made of two pallets, two 2x4s, and about 12 recycled plastic olive barrels. Unfortunately, I had to dismantle it because I am moving, but it made me smile to remember it.

  • @jofic Good times my friend good times

    Thanks, Reggie

  • nice raft :-)

  • @toni77fi Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • Hey just thought I'd add..you can indeed clean and eat those sunfish and bluegills that small...you will have very tiny fillets but if u catch about 40 of 'em in a day it makes for a good fish fry for 2 or 3 people. Thanks for posting!

  • @apathy24 Thank you my friend i will remember that, Reggie

  • excuse me but what state do you live in?

  • @bakednapkin north Carolina my friend, Reggie

    Thanks, Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine Yes it really is. I will go visit a wooded area and go camping with my friends and brothers soon. I wish I grew up playing in the woodlands.

  • @MrLivePositive8 One of the best ways to raise a kid my friend

    Thanks, Reggie

  • Are those cars I hear?

  • @MrSuperflynerd That is a good chance my friend because there is a road down the river a little ways.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • its a sun fish

  • @TheBlackeagleairsoft Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • Definitely a "sun fish" catch em all the time. Crappies and perch have almost a golden colored skin with little black dots.

  • @campmandown Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • If you want to pan fry the bream, gut, cut off all the fins, except the dorsal (top), that'll be your handle when you eat em. Cut off the head too. Get your oil hot, almost smoking, maybe a little smoke, fry em up. When you eat them, pick em up by that top fin and pull the meat off the bones that will be still attached to the backbone, with your teeth. simple way to eat a small fish!

  • @rjiggy07 Thank you my friend i will remember that

    ,Reggie

  • Great videos! Those sunfish are good eating. If you want to stick to primitive style, set up a smoker use bark to channel the smoke, use green hickory, choke cherry or apple for the smoke, or soak some small chunks in water to help make more smoke. Gut the fish, take the gills out, leave the head so you can use it to hang the fish with a stick thru the mouth. Make sure the smoke hits the meat side. About 4-6 hours, keep the heat LOW. You want to kill the parasites, but not cook to much.

  • whats the toilet paper for haha

    ,Reggie

  • I live in NC too and your fish appear to all be bream, also known as crappie. They are edible. I used to catch and cook 2 or 3 for a meal for one. They are the most common fish in NC ponds. The good news is that usually where you find bream you'll usually also find bass nearby. I've done a lot of trout fishing in the streams of Roaring Gap, NC. Plenty of bass can be found at the dam, and trout, including the brook trout, in the streams branching off.

  • @WhatIsMyCharisma Ive never herd a bream called a crappie before i know up north thay call bream bluegill.I think a crappie is nothen like a bream i maybe wrong.Im allso from the great state of NC.

  • @SOUTHERNANDPROUD1861 I Think what they are all called depends on who you ask really. But hey a fish is fish and no matter what its called its going to taste the same ;)

    Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • @WhatIsMyCharisma Thank you my friend and that is true because i have cough some good size bass out of that same spot

    ,Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine i live in loyalhanna, pa

  • @cblair322 Thank you my friend i line in north Carolina ...are you any where close ?

    ,Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine pennsylvania

  • I never got the point of fishing with a line (for food) when you get a much better payoff with a Indian fish trap, which are perfectly legal for survival reasons as far as I know. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

  • @secretagentmann9 That is true my friend ,Reggie

  • that fish looks like a sun perch

  • @cowboysaver1971 Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • @cowboysaver1971 i catch those all the time and yes it is a sun perch
