I would agree with you that Ron Paul is one of the best politicians. However, I would be cautious of Alan Keyes because some of his ideas for our country are kind of scary. For example, he has said that we can't address the budget deficit until we address the moral deficit, which I think is wrong because the government should not try to be the moral police. He also doesn't support free trade.

My first real interaction with a politician was at my college graduation, and he was the most phony person I'd ever met at that time. He would stop his speech periodically and give this big phony smile for the camera. I knew politicians were liars and theives, but the phoniness of them is what got me. All taxes aren't constitutional. Article I Section 9 clearly states that Congress DOES NOT have the power to lay a direct tax (income or property tax). The founders knew direct tax would be abused (see class warfare and 60% income tax in NY today). Amendment 16, which some contest wasn't legally ratified, basically nullifies Article I Section 9 and gives Congress power they were never intended to have.

Pro choice libertarians feel that because a person, in this case a woman, should have self ownership, and that with this ownership and self governance comes personal responsibility, that it should be the woman's responsibility to determine.
So it can cut both ways here. If you notice, Paul has said over and over that as President he WOULDN'T decide this himself, but leave it to sates, & better, to local communities.

It's the best system we have. Notice during the depression, Hoover's no spending sent us into 25% unemployment. FDR's spending got unemployment to 10%, then the republicans took over in 1938 and balanced the budget and scaled back spending. What happened? unemployment went back up to around 18%. What ended the depression? The massive spending on WW2.
George Bush did spend alot of money. Problem is, he didn't spend it on anything important. Spending money on job creation is sound policy.

People say the stimulus (I & II) should have involved large sums of money to taxpayers who work or to American citizens in general, but that would not create the millions of jobs we need, it wouldn't help revamp a broken healthcare, education, and financial system. All it would do is provide temporary relief, for say, maybe a couple years. At the same time, thats what most people want anyway, a quick fix. We'll see if President Obama can get this country back to the way he said he envisioned it.

Americans should be pissed. Bush and Obama and so-called anti welfare America have up to 23 TRILLION in welfare to the very companies that caused this economic meltdown. Thus far, those hurt by it, the American people, haven't received ONE DIME in relief. Why is it okay to give welfare to unscrupulous, corrupt, government established billion dollar companies who made bad choices, but we can't give a dime to some poor family who is a victim of those companies bad choices?

I would agree with you that Ron Paul is one of the best politicians. However, I would be cautious of Alan Keyes because some of his ideas for our country are kind of scary. For example, he has said that we can't address the budget deficit until we address the moral deficit, which I think is wrong because the government should not try to be the moral police. He also doesn't support free trade.

We have a huge military, we have a very strong executive, we have big bus and big gov working together and we have a light police state. Could all of these things be much, much worse? Yes, of course. My first real interaction with a politician was at my college graduation, and he was the most phony person I'd ever met at that time. He would stop his speech periodically and give this big phony smile for the camera. I knew politicians were liars and theives, but the phoniness of them is what got me. Now I've seen it over and over and I know it wasn't just one bad apple.

The people that really think through the issues in a sober way are a minority in this country. Look at the videos of people being interviewed at the McCain and Obama rallies. None of them can ever seem to explain why they support their candidate. All they can say is "change" "hope" "patriotism" and crap like that.

It might be a bit of a play on the word (fascism), but if you quit waving the red-white-and-blue long enough to open your eyes, you might get a better understanding (that government intervention is not the desired effect, in most instances... this one in particular).

Under the present system, the extra burden of interest forces workers and businesses to demand more money for the work and goods to pay their ever increasing debts and taxes. This increase in prices and wages is called "inflation." Bankers, politicians and "economists" blame it on everything but the real cause, which is the interest levied on money and debt by the Bankers.

Libertarian doresn't mean anarchist. Libertarian doesn't mean that one must reject all taxes. He does hold that Income Tax is unconstitutional and has never voted for an increase in taxes.
However our Constitution has clearly defined a role of government to provide for the common defense and WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD PAY FOR THAT. Taxes are Constitutional.
Ron Paul is best described as a Constitutional Republican with libertarian leanings.

All taxes aren't constitutional. Article I Section 9 clearly states that Congress DOES NOT have the power to lay a direct tax (income or property tax). The founders knew direct tax would be abused (see class warfare and 60% income tax in NY today). Amendment 16, which some contest wasn't legally ratified, basically nullifies Article I Section 9 and gives Congress power they were never intended to have.

Don't forget, though, that Nader was a life long Democrat and ran for Pres. as a Democrat in '92. So he and Paul share in common in common that they BOTH have run as major party candidates once. Nader DIDN'T run as Green Party last year either. But their platforms never changed, if only get better.

Libertarian philosophy states that an individual owns his or her own body, and therefore has the right to do with it whatever he or she wants, even hurt themself, as long as they don't hurt another person. So this can be interpreted either way

It's the best system we have. Notice during the depression, Hoover's no spending sent us into 25% unemployment. FDR's spending got unemployment to 10%, then the republicans took over in 1938 and balanced the budget and scaled back spending. What happened? unemployment went back up to around 18%. What ended the depression? The massive spending on WW2.
George Bush did spend alot of money. Problem is, he didn't spend it on anything important. Spending money on job creation is sound policy.

actually what gave us 25% unemployment was the fed screwing with the money supply so they could have a leveraged buy out of most if not all companies that were around at the time. if your going to make an ass of yourself, at least make sure you know what your talking about.
as for the WW2 analogy, your taking 2 things and saying "see, see they are the same", when they really are not the same. what obama needs to do, is cut about 2/3s the us government, and relieve tax burdens

Look, The leadership in our Federal Government is corrupted beyond belief. They are in bed with Wall Street. The International Bankers that run Wall Street want to destroy the United States. They don't want U.S. Government interference and Regulation. They want to destroy the United States. Pushing secession is one way to do that. Don't be fooled. We need to Kick this crowed out of our Federal Government and put them in prison.

People say the stimulus (I & II) should have involved large sums of money to taxpayers who work or to American citizens in general, but that would not create the millions of jobs we need, it wouldn't help revamp a broken healthcare, education, and financial system. All it would do is provide temporary relief, for say, maybe a couple years. At the same time, thats what most people want anyway, a quick fix. We'll see if President Obama can get this country back to the way he said he envisioned it.

Well said, however Ron Paul also said that would have been a better alternative than for the government to save failed business'... Paul would vote against it, but point out that it is still dangerous as we would have to print the money and cause further inflation...

Also, one more thing, we, the citizens of the nation are part to blame for the mess we are in. We were living well above our means: buying homes and cars we could not afford, not saving and investing, begging for more tax cuts while expecting more from the government, spending, spending, and spending, just like we say Obama is doing. Fact of the matter is: we would have done the same thing.

People keep wondering where is that change tha Obama promised, but 'll give him more time. He has only been in office for almost 100 days. No, we live in a fast-food, microwave, got to have everything now, spoiled-rotten generation. Wait, be still, and wait. What is all this complaining going to solve. Either we make it or we don;t, and all this negativity definitely is not helping at all. After awhile you should get tired of all of this trash talk.

Mr. Obama's Socialism tells us this is not true and that we should let the government control our choices in life. Government tells us that coercive programs like the failing social security system will take care of us in our old age, just one of many examples of how the basic tenets of Socialism have invaded our governments philosophy as Socialism dictates that we take from those who have and give to those who don't. everywhere people fall to the false security, granted by our government.

I think that everyone posting here needs to have a long hard look at the facts. And then they might do well to take a look at the pretty pictures in a few magazines. Well I expect inflation to snow-ball around 2011, the Federal Reserve is bankrupt, Obama is "SPEND, spend, SPEND, spend!!!", Stocks are slumping, housing market is still in shambles, and everything is going up. The propoganda that the government is spewing is so deceptive, our politics should be imprisoned for the rest of there lives...unemployment is still going up...so ask yourselves wheres that CHANGE that Obama promised?? "seriously what has this world come to..." we elected a tyrant!!!

incidentally. congressman paul is one of only a copuple voices of reason in this madness, and if anyone thinks the civil war was fought over slavery they need to actually read a history book or two. and slavery was on the downturn, the war did more harm than good, in that it setup a viscious system of discrimination. look at europe and the other nations that abolished slavery without war. I get so sick of ignorant race carding and slave references. try actually listening/reading before ranting.

I think its funny because as a white american i have been working 3 jobs and studying my arse off to get through school, i try to transfer into a college with the classes i need to finish my degree and am told that they regret to inform me that my money isnt good enough and that i'm the wrong minority to get in. vote for change? If that would work, I'm sure it would have been done long ago. Don't get me wrong, that is a great concept. But what a concept it is. The logistics of getting every country in the world to combine their personal shares of gold, and throw away their currency to switch to and start printing a universal currency... that's unimaginable. There's too much greed and hate in the world, to sum it up.
