There's a difference between music as a whole and the very small section of that music that is the mainstream. I'd say what was mainstream was better in the past, but if you can't find good music being made right now, well then you're just not looking hard enough! This is entirely different era today, where music is just unatural with modified gimmick sounds voice overs.
