Now as I understand it, the opening part is the old Nkosi Sisele. The middle Afrikaaner part is the old anthem. Where does the English section come from?

@VictorLepanto There was both an Afrikaans and an English version of essentially the same anthem. It wasn't divided up into Afrikaans and English sections, you could basically decide for yourself which version you sang.

Nkosi Sikelela is the national anthem of a few african countries. a country should have its own and not share it with other countries.

There are 11 languages in this hymn, I think this is the only one in the world , for Belgium there only three languages in the "Brabançonne" two in the canadian anthem.

It is a good idea to help in the raise of nation respecting not only the ethnic diversity but linguistic diversity too through an anthem (for example in the "Marseillaise " it is impossible to imagine some words in Breton , Alsacian, Créole or Catalan French is thge only one official language).

@teddythefrency This anthem has only five languages: Zulu, Xhosa, Sesotho, Afrikaans and English if I'm not mistaken. The Brabanconne is never sung like this but completely in Dutch, French or German. Oh Canada is just the same. That makes this anthem completely unique in the world I believe. Belgium should have done that in the 1830's because now it's getting too late.

@Quintinohthree I was never aware of this fact. I have always heard the part played/sung that I believe is Zulu (or Swahili)...I never heard the other parts.  In fact the closest I came to that was a book of hymns I have and there were two languages in it...Swahili and another....but the rest of this anthem I never heard until now....
