  • This game was legendary! If they ever made Another World 2 or a sequel, I'd cream my pants. :D

  • @sylvur If they made an Another World 2, it'd probably be a regenerating health cover FPS.

  • @antisocialfatman There was a sequel developed by Interplay called Heart of the Alien. It came bundled with the first game and was Sega Mega CD/Sega CD exclusive, although there have been ports to Windows, Symbian and GP2x through HotA Redux.

  • @sylvur The sequel is called Heart of the alien.

  • @sylvur They made a sequel on the Sega CD called Heart of the Alien

  • @sylvur

there's actually a sequel on the sega CD called heart of the alien ._.

  • @sylvur They do have a sequel, its for the sega cd, called heart of the alien. I have it and its great.

  • I downloaded the original a few months ago and despite trying probably 100 times between me and my girlfriend, we couldn't get past the first level. It's beautiful, and addictive and completely fucking impossible.

  • played this then i was like 6 year's old...back then games there games! now installing "heart of darkness" for some ol'skool memories bringing tonight.

  • I frickin loved this game had it on the Megadrive, they need to release this on xbox marketplace. Flashback was also great.

  • It's project 23, no wonder it went wrong.

  • reminds me a little about hear of darkness

  • Great game, originally designed on a Commodore Amiga A500 :)

  • OMG. I remember playing (and finishing!) this game 7 times one day, I loved it so much. It's really one of the best games ever made.

  • what was the song that was played around 5:00?

  • Cool! I remember this game^^ I think I only played it a few times though. It was a bit too hard for me. I mostly watched when my brother played it.

  • BTW... The same developers made one other pretty nice game called Hart of Darkness. I played it much older than i was when i played Another World, but it brought up same great feelings.

  • I LOVED Heart of Darkness. I played it all he time when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of me. It should NOT have been rated E, lol. But the games are very similar. Especially in the first level.

  • I always get a chill down my back when I see and hear the intro to another world.

This game is one of my fondest childhood memories.

( I wrote that just before starting the video, before realizing that this is said in the first few seconds in the video. But really, how else yo gonna put it, eh? ).

I remember the exhilaration I felt after kicking that guy in the nuts and picking up the gun through a somersault for the first time ( 4:18 )

  • Indeed, one of the first and best games of my life.

    Another World is phenomenal

  • looks alot like abes oddysee, which i love. Ill give this one a try.

  • I really wanna try this game, but I can only find it for SNES and DOS :(. Is the SNES version just as good?

  • the framerates terrible on the snes version. but its easier to run than the dos version

  • Not as good as the 15th anniversary edition, which has redone HD graphics.

  • you can buy it on GOG for $10 quick easy download and guaranteed to play on your system..

  • The guys who made this also made Shaq Fu :P

  • yea, and Jace Hall did F.E.A.R. and a scooby doo game.

  • They did not make this game. Eric Chahi did.

  • I meant that the guys who published this games published Shaq Fu

  • you should try flashback, made by the same people im sure and its just as good.

  • I don't want to sound like I'm bashing it, because everything about the presentation is phenomenal. I don't know, maybe I've been spoiled by console platformers like Mario or old-skool Ninja Gaiden but I just can't bring myself to appreciate the actual platforming elements here. They just aren't that good.

  • While I usually agree with you, I'm going to have the say that this game, while a landmark, has aged poorly. The controls are awkward (especially on a keyboard) and it relies on the "Trial and Error" style of gameplay to a fault. Obviously this was simply the way games used to be, but whereas stuff like Megaman can actually be beaten with pure skill this requires you to die over and over. I'd recommend it for its amazing artistic vision and the influence it obviously had on games like Ico.

  • A very good game, in fact, I'd call it pure art.

The many bad reviews by critically acclaimed gaming sites were undeserved imo.

They should figure out for themselves if they want a challenging, exotic and artistic world, or the same crap all over again.

  • Best. Artstyle. In. A. Game. EVER

  • Great review as always congrats.

  • Nice death montage!

  • if you say everyone should play, the ni am gonan play ^^

  • Really good review. I love this game and the 15th anniversary version is great.

  • Epic gunfights are epic.

  • at 4:36 how did you passed it? i am constantly getting killed by those lazers!!

  • how do you get this game? steam? :S

    looks like fun

  • This is one of those games that stands out on its own, it is made as an artform, it doesn't need comparison to other games. Good review. PC version of AW shines..

  • Well this is so good that I heard that it influenced gameing legend Hideo Kojima maker of Metal gear solid.

  • In a film would theadder be the little guy who runs away from everything? Let's make a film. I actually might be buying a video camera soon, for reals 2max.

  • Die and reload... Kinda off-putting. I'm one of those instant gratification whores, I guess, so I won't be playing this. But it looks like a fun game not unlike some of the games I loved in the past.

BTW, what is this theadder clip you removed? Anything interesting?

  • No, it was just a sort of tutorial/technique video on how to jousting/circle strafing hybrids in SS2. I have a friend who I've *finally* managed to convince to play the game, and he *finally* managed to get the game running, and now he finds it so hard he's not playing it. His name is theadder.

  • OH GOD I LOVED THAT GAME!

I USED TO PLAY IT WHEN I WAS 6.

sorry for all caps, you got me excited.

  • I'm going to have to check out this game. By the way I loved your ending. "I'm OK, it's only a little cut" *Fall dead to the ground* xD

  • oh, and mfsa, if you dont mind me asking, what kind of software or programs do you use to make video reviews? I would presume Fraps and Windows movie maker, but is there anything else? And what kind of mic do you use for recording audio?

  • I use:

    Fraps (recording)

    Virtualdub (encoding)

    Movie Maker (editing)

    Audacity (audio recording)

    Word (writing)

I use Creative Fatal1ty headphones which have a mic attachment. Are you thinking of making your own reviews?

  • actually I've been thinking about it for awhile, my freshman and sophomore years in highschool I did movie reviews with a few gadget and video game reviews here in there, so its always been something I've liked. thanks for letting me in on what you use, I've heard of Audacity and tooled around with it, but i'll have to check virtualdub out.

  • Looks amazing, great review.

  • OMG! The nostalgia!!

You should do a Flashback review too. Btw, great review.

  • Oh yeah!! Flashback is an *awesome* game - if I had it for PC, I would definitely review it.

I have it for SNES, but both my SNES machines are broken.

  • @antisocialfatman I know that post you posted is 2 years old, but just download the game from doperoms and run it on dosbox

  • Could you tell me the song that plays dureing the death sequence compilation

  • I don't know where I first heard it or where I even got it from, or if the name is correct, but I have it as 'Sanctus II - Libera'.

Whatever it is, it's a beautiful piece.

  • I might check this game out.

  • i remember playing this game; there was this creature following me around in the beginning; i don't remember much else. i'll have to look for the anniversary addition and see if i can afford to pick it up. thanks for the review.

  • Yeah, that was something that surprised me - it seems rare and expensive in USA. It's much cheaper and easier to find in UK.

  • I really enjoyed this review, took me back to my old copy of Another world, i loved this game even though it was terribly hard for me to finish.

    Great review as always.
