i still think that the iron and stone spear heads would be better i mean yeah the splinter might go in easier but the others would leave a bigger hole and the animal dies faster
wood has a low breaking point thats kinda why they invented the bodkin head don't get me wrong you actually know about an atlatl unlike my texas hisstory teacher lol
plus its a dart not a spear my teacher kept saying spear, drove me crazy
@DrBardo yew is a very expensive wood widely used for gun stocks (according to some websites), so it is to expensive. it would be best if you used Ash, Hickory, Walnut, Black Cherry, Locust or Maple because these are other hardwoods that can be special ordered from lowes. NOTE: this is for a project, NOT FOR IN THE WILD! this is not a survival guide this comment, this is just a fact

hey man cool bow,but i think the cane dart you show at the last secs isnt flexible enough, tho i cant judge exactly cuz you show only a portion of it.but i think its too thick too be flexible, hope im wrong;)
that bow design has incredible strength and is nearly unbreakable. drawing on multiple members, the spring force is compounded. the tapered prods flex without cracking. A simple design, and the tool lasts and functions perfect. choices of wood and cordage can be important. I use Cork Oak prods and honey suckle vine (highly prized for its strength and durability. The Bobobscott design was thoughtfuly engeneered
@trapperjacksurvival dude those atlatl dart heads are way to big man..your dart will just go right in the ground too huge and heavy..i use small arrowheads for my atlatl darts.and it fly good.
hey trapperjack i love this video u totally made me rethink the bow concept! whats the poundage on that bow? im considering mimicking this bow design and would like to know the possible poundage u could get
Great job Jack. Thanks for doing this project. You did a great job. The bow looked like it had a decent draw weight. I like the use of vines. These
demonstrate what can be made with nothing but what nature will provide. The hot weather is soon gone and maybe you can get out in the bush and do some survival living. I agree with the wooden points(which can be extra hardened in a fire). They can be fitted with flint shards along the edge also. 10/10 !!
does useing just the two fethers in place of useing the common three fethers make the dart any less accurate???
Theheadhunter1997 3 months ago
@Theheadhunter1997 using two feathers does not affect the accuracy of the dart
trapperjacksurvival 3 months ago
@trapperjacksurvival thank you, i might start doing it that way then

Great point about how the dart needs to flex like a javelin as it flies. Really enjoy your vids.

@trapperjacksurvival Sweet. My hunting technique is to wait for an injured animal to walk up to me and perish. I carry knife and fork.

Great looking very primitive Penobscot bow 5/5+ at least!
Like the Atl Atl. Like to play with them.
I like using cane darts about 7' long with a good flex in them. Sometimes a rough leafed dogwood shaft. Keep up the vids.
