What exactly is the HTC Hero rom? I have the HTC Magic and i tried to download the hero rom but it then said i had to pay £3.99... & also can anyone tell me how to download snes roms for the SNesiod lite app? & can the Magic receive files being sent through bluetooth? i kow it can send files via the androbex app, but can it receive them? would really appreciate the help, thanks.

For all the Rogers customers that have this phone and dont want to 'root' it. I had spoken to rogers a couple days ago and they had told me that there will be an upgrade for the rom posted on their website by the end of the year or early next year. I had asked about the firmware update (from 1.5 to 1.6, as well as droid 2.0 (eclair).

If you cant wait, there are many tutorials online that'll show you how to 'jailbreak' and add any OS you'd like.

Hope that helps some of you guys out.

Is there anyone who can give me a hand? I am very very unframiliar with HTC, and Android phones. I know nothing what-so-ever. I had though, just ordered a HTC Magic for Rogers. I hope this is a good choice? We don't have the Hero yet. Also, is there a way to make it look like the Hero, and this "sense UI" can these be put on the magic? ..Is that what you cal, rooting a phone? and is Cupcake and Sense UI the same thing? Sorry for the little knowledge folks, any help would be appreciated. :)

go check out video from the gadget pro he used to do g1 videos but now he does htc magic other wise known as mytouch 3g very great tutorials he has check him his channel is gadgetpro also u can root ur phone with one click in his video but im just given u information right here not responsible if u brick ur phone or what ever well hope it helps

I think you live in Canada because you said rogers. Well the HTC Hero is a Telus exclusive that's already selling.

Cupcake is the codename for the Android's operating system and Sense UI is the name of the Android OS that has been changed by HTC.

You can try flashing the Magic with a Hero ROM but you won't get full functionality. I know that may not have made sense but it's too long to type here. Just google "hero rom htc magic" or something like that.

I have this running on my rooted MT3G (Maxismas 1.8 ROM) and it's running okay. The home screen will freeze up sometimes, but its useable. I cant wait for a more optimized Sense build for the Mytouch...even if its slow, I really love it.

I am running it on my UK Vodafone Magic, really really slow. I mean its so slow that by the the time the phone realises that somone is calling me the person has hung up or it has gone to voicemail. Its just terrible, but I think the UK version has less RAM than the US rogers. Anyone know how I get it off and load the origional Magic ROM?

yeah i just did it on mine, everything works just fine, except the internet wasn't working at first but you just gotta make sure you manually insert the apn.

multi touch is included yes. but thats not a reason to install hero, multi touch is available on almost any other rom. you should install it because Sense UI will make your life alot better. i promise.

Err.. the MyTouch3G is one of the crippled PVT32B model handsets - that is it has only 192MB memory (vs 288MB for the HTC models) and the current models are also currently unflashable - ie. you can't install any new ROMS on it.

I have to say that after a few days of using it I missed the instant snappiness of the normal Cupcake build. I love all the widgets, but they're just too slow for daily in the present build.

So what I've done now is kept the Hero rom, but I use the normal Home front end. It means I cant use the HTC Widgets, but it's blazing fast and I still have all the new HTC Apps - like HTC Peep, People, Flickr/facebook, multitouch Browser, etc.

I can have my cupcake and eat it too!
