BTW, the Lich is still IMO easy without the Good Book compared to the other bosses without their respective Legend Items (Chimera, Spider Queen, Yeti, and Wraith I am looking at you.)

Your kidding right? Any boss is easy to beat with out any of the legendary items. What are we playing two different games here?

@Zagubadu I actually agree with you with all of the bosses being easy.

What I meant is to how much work you have to put in to dodge attacks.

- ALL of the Lich's attacks can be dodged, but he is still not to be underestimated.

- Chimera is versatile since he has three heads to avoid.

- The Spider Queen is fast.

- The Yeti has attacks that are hard to avoid and/or need to be blocked.

- The Wraith is not only unpredictable, but strong.

Bosses are easy, but I also play with skill.

I've beaten the game and never blocked once. As a kid we pushed it with nothing around us and thought it was nothing ( Like a taunt you know for show? ) So we just never used it. I still play that with friends like just messing around. Don't block because its funner to just attack.

@Zagubadu True, it's hilarious to just mash on the attack buttons. But learning to block will save your tail if you ever decide to play the arcade version. You get in the habit of saving HP when it's costing you quarters, LOL.

@wafflessmellgood It doesn't really matter what level you are for the Lich. As long as you can dodge attacks like the way the video showed (and block/charge if necessary), you can win against the Lich at even the lower levels.

@THEJUDGE90210 i would like to point out the items for each of the boss battles are not required to kil it. they just help in weakening it/disabling it. you can kill the guy with any guy you wish.

I still miss playing Gauntlet: Legends and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, both the Arcade and the PS2 versions. The Lich and the Spider Queen were my faves, just because they didn't sit on a pedestal and lob stuff at you; they'd come after you and chase you down and swat you around if you weren't careful.

And the dying Lich getting pulled into the ground by the giant skeleton hand? That's a pretty bad-ass way to go. Not to mention his entrance, taking his head off the axe and putting it on... :-)

Eh, they're all good characters. I had no problem beating the Lich with my Red Sorceress (because hey, the "newbie" Gauntlet characters need love too).

Of course, the slower characters such as the Warrior do have a little less forgiveness when it comes to timing; running under the Lich when he jumps gets a little hairier when you don't run at Mach 1 like the Archer and the Jester do. But the extra damage your Warrior dishes out does help make the boss fights a little shorter.

Yeah, I played this as the Green Warrior. The Lich is more or less a glorified General. Once you get used to his pattern, he's not so bad. But you're right, because of the Warrior's lack of speed there were times when I couldn't get out of the way quickly enough.

Actually.  The warrior has some movement speed. Equivalent to that of the Wizard and not as much as the Sorceress.

The Warrior's main weaknesses are low magic (also meaning timed powerups not lasting as long) and slow firing speed of both slow and fast attacks (a major weakness.)

However, the one who takes the cake of being slow in firing and movement are the Knight, Valkyrie, and Dwarf.

But if you can overcome the weaknesses, you can overcome the enemies even more.

Aren't the Warrior and the Wizard the slowest characters when it comes to running speed, though? The Sorceress and the Dwarf aren't much better, IIRC. Then you have the Knight and the Valkyrie in the middle, and the Archer and the Jester coming in first place like the track stars they are (and easily dodging jumping Liches and practically everything else thrown at them, much to everyone else's chagrin). :-/

Here's the breakdown (assume no attributes are bought.)

The Warrior and Wizard start off with 350 speed.

The Sorceress starts off with 400 speed.

The Dwarf, Knight, and Valkyrie start off with 300 speed.

So movement speed is indeed different. However, you do have a point of the movement speed being barely noticeable (but only during the beginning.)

Easy way to defeat Lich is to..

1: use legenday item (X)

2: Use a mikey item

3: stand in the middle of the stage then back away in circles=confuses lich

the trap door to unlock medusa is on the second level of the forsaken provence.

juct break the hidden wall before you face you first gargoyle. the level is easy just do not frget the coin on the top right part of the level.

The Lich remains stunned for a bit only while the light begins to shine. Other than that, just avoid/block his attacks as necessary.

I'm not really clear on what the book of protection does, I suspect it lessens his attack power but you never took a hit.

It not only damages the Lich, but also stuns him for a short time just enough to get a few extra hits in.
