It's been almost 2 years, and I still love this video. The funny thing is when you land at one of the hub airports, and you pull up next to a 737 (modest sized commercial airliner) you feel so small next to it.
If I ever strike it rich one day, you bet your money I get one of these...maybe put satellite TV, a couple of couches, and all the Cristal and chips money can buy onboard. (Maybe even an XBox 360 and a couple of laptops for good measure, too.)
@a2304 -- Though, really, you ARE moving a lot quicker a lot faster. CRJ's are much lighter than airliners and don't require as much effort to make it go.
This last time I flew was from Baltimore to Memphis and back and we got to fly in First Class 'cause they were having so much trouble with our luggage.
I got to fly on a couple of Northwest (Pinnacle) CRJ's a few months ago...although for a 6'2" guy like me, it's hell walking down the aisle, these things got balls on them!
~35.000 lbs. of thrust....roughly the same as the engines that powered the Concorde...imagine the G's in an F-22 with full afterburner...or in a Concorde for that matter (R.I.P.)
Actually, in a "by the book" takeoff roll, you're supposed to hold the brakes until your engines are at 40-50 percent N1 so as to develope "synchronous thrust" which occurs rapidly, thus the "illusion" that the pilot holds the brakes until full power.
there is no one "by the book" takeoff for a crj700...there are two that are acceptable. The "standing" takeoff which is what you just described, and the "rolling" takeoff which is where the aircraft never stops from the taxi onto the runway. The dispatch release has the proper performance numbers for each type of takeoff for the runways available. The standing takeoff should only be used for certain conditions, such as contaminated runway (snow, slush, etc.)
I went to Disneyland when I was 7 on one of these planes, and all I remember was being terrified of that noise :D (the buzzsaw)

Crj's are cool since ur closer 2 the ground it seems like ur going faster on takeoff than in a larger jet(even though the larger jets sound cooler),
