Then it's probably the BIOS running a RAM check. The more RAM, the longer it takes to check in a PC, hence longer start up. Macs don't check the RAM prior to setup. Also, any PC equipped with a SSD will load up in about 4-5 seconds. That "super computer" is probably old shit by now.

Really? Because I have FREE AV and AM programs (MSE and Malwarebytes) and I rarely use them. I mean hell, I even watch porn, and STILL have no viruses on my now three year old, not fixed once, $700, PC.

@mammo8369 Macs were the best at video editing/audio editing back when they were PowerPC's, and back in those day standards. Now Macs run on Intel based cpu's (the same ones you find in most PC's!) and they are almost identical apart from the applications that are written for them. Macs are aregubaly worse then PC's now because Apple decided they would use the cheapest components they could source. Open your mac and check your RAM specs. Extremely low quality.

@mammo8369 Xbox is a console, meaning that it requires quick access (such as bypassing RAM scans) and so the Mac's hardware was pretty much a perfect platform to use it. In terms of a personal computer, or developement in just about any form of media, most pc builds knock most macs out of the water.

"PCs" are not inherently faster, it's just that apple overprices thier hardware by about 300-500%. So a custom spec PC that costs $1000 costs over at apple $4000 for the EXACT same hardware.

@ineedepicz Yeah, it is because of some limitations in the mac operating system for playing games (I get a LOT higher when running windows on the same computer). Mostly these limitations are to keep multitasking as smooth as it is, but also the lack of directx11. The minecraft server hit a few technical speed bumps recently... @mammo8369 Macs were the best at video editing/audio editing back when they were PowerPC's, and back in those day standards. Now Macs run on Intel based cpu's (the same ones you find in most PC's!) and they are almost identical apart from the applications that are written for them. Macs are aregubaly worse then PC's now because Apple decided they would use the cheapest components they could source. Open your mac and check your RAM specs. Extremely low quality.

@mammo8369 Also, since you brought up Avatar. All of the software used in editing Avatar is Windows-compatible. Not all of it is Mac-compatible (e.g. Autodesk SoftImage), and some of it was not available at the time...so your statement "all effects on macs" is actually impossible.
The all-in-one big screen computers (no tower) are also available for PCs. I'm glad you like your computer, but can you provide one measurable area where Macs are better?

In terms of a personal computer, or developement in just about any form of media, most pc builds knock most macs out of the water.

"PCs" are not inherently faster, it's just that apple overprices thier hardware by about 300-500%. So a custom spec PC that costs $1000 costs over at apple $4000 for the EXACT same hardware.

@ineedepicz Yeah, it is because of some limitations in the mac operating system for playing games (I get a LOT higher when running windows on the same computer). Mostly these limitations are to keep multitasking as smooth as it is, but also the lack of directx11. The minecraft server hit a few technical speed bumps recently... Go Mach 2 in your jet-propelled, fully customizable super PC, and stop occasionally to pick up hitchhikers because you got a lot of seats. Or you can just get a ready steady solar-powered car that maxes out at 40mph, has costly solar panel repairs, and you have to skip the hitchhikers because you have no room. The choice is yours.

@NevermoarTV Actually, it took them far less than a month. Some people say it was three weeks; others two. It's hard to say what the 'starting' time is, but either way, it was quite a bit less than a month before they posted removal info and patched it (which the MAC Defender creators responded to by creating a new version, which was also blocked by Apple).

The reason PC has spyware is because it's the more used OS, so hackers, cyber thieves and the like make their applications/spyware on PC. Great advertising Apple...

@Birdiejb94 No, it is simply because it is near impossible to program a virus for mac. Because 10% of computers are macs, 10% of viruses would be for mac, and yet there are 0 viruses for mac OS X

@brainslurper Yet, only a few days ago Apple anounced that there was a serious spyware scam going around that they were patching; and if there really is '0' viruses and spyware, then why has Apple released MacScan? Currently at version 2.7. See, this is why I hate brands, people get brainwashed into loving them, it happens to all of us at some level, I just hope for your sake you manage to let go...

@Birdiejb94 The idea of a scam is that the user is tricked into downloading and installing it, whereas a virus is intended to download and install itself without the user knowing, which is currently impossible on OSX.

I have a Linux OS / distributions , and BSD on my PC. Linux ,and BSD get less infections than Mac, or Windows.
What you Mac users don't tell people is that Mac's get Trojans all the time.
"Mac defender" is a Mac Trojan / or scareware and "Facebook koobface Trojan" is a Mac Trojan. There are Trojans for the Mac, and more are coming out every day.
Pirated copies of software have viruses , and Trojan like Apple's iWork had a Trojan a few years ago .
