Personally, I'm sick of people thinking of Edward Cullen as the typical vampire. Vampires were more the version you have portrayed here. I mean look at the original Dracula, this isn't nearly as creepy as that. Vampires were suppose to be feared and mysterious, but now they are these beautiful creatures that are basically human with no mystery behind them at all. Everyone loves vampires now because of the Twilight craze, but they fail to look at what they originally were.

@architectus777 Only a few myths have vampires as demons. Many more have them associated with demons, and Namaechan is right in saying they used to be human. No legends as far as I have read say the vampire has pointed ears, but there are legends where they are rotting corpses, which the missing jaw would then come into play given creative license. I don't see a "missing" jaw so much as an eggaggerated one.
