@ ibakethecake uh that really is a btwist it might not be as familiar to you cause maybe he didnt add that much foot steps as other people would normally do. :\
is this really a B twist?? a raiz a sideswipe and a 540 are very simliar but slight differences... now here it looks like you are about to do a B KICK but then you swing you leg around and it finishes in a side swipe. i believe a B TWIST is when you keep your legs in and not keep it straight the whole time my friend
sideswipe = is what you did
540 kick = a sideswipe but an intentional kick, landing on your kick foot
raiz = take off in a 540 kick but land on the foot that left the ground first
@Rikki214 I've been told that this is actually a Shuriken twist, but I'm not a tricker and don't really know all the subtle variations and differences between similar skills.
The term Shuriken in tricking just refers to the positioning of the landing leg. In a normal B-twist/Corkscrew, both legs stay horizontal during the twist. With a Shuriken B-twist or Cork, the landing leg becomes perpendicular(it's vertical while the rest of you is horizontal) to the other leg during the twist. Your B-twist is a good example of a Shuriken landing.
@MochaMash naa i dont agree exactly... its a b twist take off, but a sideswipe landing. he should have tucked his legs then its a B twist 100% clear as day.
@Rikki214 all a b-twist is, is a 360 roll-over initiated from a b-kick take-off, which is what he does in the vid; the legs can be as far apart or as close together as one likes. It is still a b-twist.
in a sideswipe, or a 540, notice that, as the move ends, there is a distinct "cross-over" movement of the legs. B-twists don't have this movement... instead that there is a kind of "reverse" of this that happens in the beginning of the move.
@Rikki214 Man, no offence but that was definitely not a sideswipe! It is a shuriken twist actually. But 540 kick is a tornado kick landed on the kicking leg, sideswipe is a laid back 540 kick and a raiz is a no-handed gumby, or a laid back really inverted tornado kick...
Is this the type of set-up they use for it in gymnastics? I've heard that it's included as a move in gymnastics, C ranked from what I was told, but people don't really do them. Do you know if this is true?
@CaptainRed It's not super common in gymnastics and different people use different set ups. I do it from a stand since that's what I'm most comfortable with unlike how Tong Fei originally did it. I compete it in my routine instead of a press or circles, but it's only worth a B, not a C.
Dude! Thats not a B-Twist! Thats a Shiruken Twist! Your doing something more advanced that a B-Twist :P Cause your swiping your leg over real high like a kick.
U know that ur b-twist are so dangerous for ur knee's? and + they are ugly :( just look at the way u land , u can see it urself! my reaction was OUCH!!!
very very nice technique, the only thing id add, is that you fix the dip, cause you could get so much more air. But other than that, very nice btwists
So I also have a slow motion camera to see what I do wrong when I attempt tricks, so I recently started attempting this trick, I seem to get over, but can never put my leg down to land. I spot my landing but can't put out my foot for some reason... Advice?
@DestroyAllN00bs I don't know that explain it better than you can see it in the video. It took me quite a long time from when I first learned this until I became consistent with it.
@DestroyAllN00bs Kick your first foot up as high and hard as you possibly can right before you twist. The harder and higher you kick, the higher and more smooth your landing will be
@geilecharlie I think it was a Casio Exilm Pro EX-F1 (not mine).
I own the little brother of that camera (Exilim EX-FH20) and recently bought a Sanyo Xacti VPC-FH1A which I've been using most of the time now (it can do full 1080p HD at 60 fps and also has high speed / slo mo settings).
uhh its better to be stretch out your ankles, hips, and back.... the hips and back allow you to get a good height and allow you to twist quicker than with stiff muscles.... ankles for beginners just in case you land incorrectly and sprain something
Of course tumbling / tricking / whatever is almost always safer if you are more flexible, but I'm not sure this particular skill is extra demanding flexibilitywise.
Decent flexibility is crucial for some skills though, like doing a good front handspring.
No strobe lights. Fluorescent lights flicker at about double the frequency of the AC current powering them (so about 100 - 120 Hz). You just don't usually notice it in video shot at less than 30 fps.
It appears slower because it was filmed at 300 fps (and 600 fps) but is played back at 30 fps (so it's slowed down 10 (and 20) times).
Good b-twist. The only thing is that your legs are a little too straight. Every b-twist should look like an illusion, so try bending your legs to create more circular movements. Still a good job, though.
I tried this again the other day and i did one which was really good except i didn't land it and then I tried again and I just did a messed up a twist and nearly broke my finger. They scare me. I give up haha
Ok I got it, Sorry for double posting but what you're doing is called a twist kick, You're landing on the same leg as the one you launch with. It's a harder variation of the butterfly twist but on a b twist you land on the opposite leg you launch off of. So you would land on your left leg. but it really still looks like a reverse kick
I don't know too much about tricking or martial arts, but I just looked up "butterfly twist" on YouTube and all of the videos I looked at did it the same way: take off leg is the same as the landing leg.

Yes. This is a B-twist. Somewhat unconventional setup for tricking, but it's a B-twist all the way.
A Sideswipe is basically an inverted 540 kick. You can also think it as a hyper'd raiz.

Naw dude thats a b-twist. actually more of a b-twist round considering how far ur last leg came over.
a sideswipe is a 540 taken from a raiz setup (a flash kick from the cheat setup).
a raiz is an aerial gumbi.
