I'm also Korean and I agree with you, it's an unnecessary risk to eat live octupus. However, chances of death, or even injury, is extremely unlikely if you chew properly. There's always risk involved when eating ANY raw food, it's just a matter of how much the risk weighs in comparisson to the benefit. Honestly, I'm more afraid of parasites from sushi or salmonella from poltry than choking on an octupus.
