This song is so meaningful and sad. It proves a true struggle for characters like Damon and also Klaus. Damon spent more than a century thinking he was doing it all for love only to be rejected twice. Klaus' whole family hating him and the fact that he felt continuously abandoned caused him to have serious insecurity issues.You can really feel for both of them, the crap they went through and how it messed them up. It's sad.

You obviously see Klaus differently, but ALL of the characters in this show make mistakes and do bad things. So I'm sure then that ALL of them have their reasons, not just Damon.
