A couple things for anyone watching. Protect your skin. Brake fluid is very toxic and absorbs quickly into your body through your skin.
Understand that if you haven't performed this maintenance routinely since the car was new (complete fluid flushes), you can damage the master cylinder with this method. Sludge that builds up will damage the seals as the pedal is being pushed further into the M/C bore than it would be under normal operation.
2 man way works great. but to remove optimum air from lines, pump brake pedal about 10 times, then hold pedal to the floor, and then only release air nipple on caliper. when the fluid and air releases out of system, then finger (or ring wrench) tighten and after that only does the foot get released of the brake pedal. repeat process. thats the way my old man taught me. i practice that on motorbikes as well. cheers
one question what gos first .opening bleeder or pressing the brake. i have seen other videos on the same topic and they first pump the brake then press the brake and second opening the bleeder. who's actually correct.
@lazyhorse22 I show wa unconventional way, that means i use more or less with what I know. you never bleed andempty, you always keep fluids high always add as you take out. or else you have no brakes.
Trying to bleed my bakes. Do you think I could find the right socket??? Nope At a total stand still lol. Moved to Barrie,Ont and sold all my tools when I left Alberta. Have everything but that socket. And say go get one lol Need to drive to do that lol
Good video mate, dont pay attention to the other moron comments . Your video is the only one that is easy to understand. I watched about six others the sequence explanations arent good. You have explained it so its easy to understand .Good job.
@grace717135 thank you. I take my time, I makes sure my ride is 110% step by step fixed, and the video is a guide line for me, if others want to learn they will by the simplicity of that, otherwise. I hear ya LMAO!
dude, he should press BEFORE you open. You never want to open before he presses the brake pedal. If you open before, air will come in. In the video you are doing it wrong.
@gomerfa NOPE...HES DOING IT RIGHT...WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE WHILE THE BLEEDER IS OPEN ALL ITS DOING ITS PUSHING THE PRESSURE OUT WHICH PUSHES THE BRAKE FLUID OUT...AND HE HAS TO CLOSE THE BLEEDER BEFORE HE RELEASES THE BRAKE OR ELSE IT SUCKS IN AIR WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES INTO NORMAL POSITION.....
@gomerfa NO USUALLY WHEN U OPEN THE BLEEDER FLUID COMES OUT..IT ONLY GETS AIR IF U LEAVE IT OPEN AND YOU PUMP THE BRAKE...BUT IF U PRESS IT N LET GO BEFORE CLOSING IT..IT SUCKS AIR IN.. DATS HOW YOU GET AIT..OR EVEN IF YOUR RESEVOIR IS TOO LOW ON BRAKE FLUID YOU CAN GET AIR IN YOUR LINES LIKE THAT ASWELL...
@gomerfa If pedal is not pressed, and you open the valve no fluid will squirt out. You can accedently open it and quickly close it, and you do not have to bleed the brake. but once you open it and press/ then depress you are sucking air in, It is best to apply pressure, then open and close before it is fully pressed, safest way.
Thank you, thank you, thank you...a million times over! I got air in my brake lines when the rear piston popped out, but thanks to this (and someone on the pedal, of course) I was back up and running in no time.
thank you for your question. If you believe you ave air inline, it's best to use a fish hose, wen you press/ release, till no more air bubbles are seen, may be one press or twenty press per wheel. I do around 6x per, which is suffucient for me,
I can only laugh as again this video only shows the way t o\ change the Brake fluid and is captured , in something that is entirely off camera. and looks like it is on hte floor, thank you for the posts END
who cares about the environment spill the oil on the floor, time or rain will take care of it...do your breaks just like this guy the professional way...lol geeez at list use a bucket or the dogs food little plate then take d oil to a recycling place..
I can only say in the scene its Pinkish. and that is all I have to say. But to comment in the post near the end, was not needed. some may find offensive but hey behind the scene shots and pure detailed may be needed for some next time round
You bled the front first? You always work the one furthest from the master cylinder FIRST then closer and closer. Most vehicles with left hand drive would be right rear first, then left rear, right front and finally left front. Master cylinder is usually done before installation (bench bleeding). Brown fluid means water contamination rusting the bores, black/grey means the seals are wearing. Cloudy honey colored means water contamination with no rust (yet).
color of your fluid would get some advice from a pro not just us. if it is dirty it can not hurtto change out with the correct fluid marked in your owners manual or brake reserve
I have a problem that you may understand fishycomics, my brake fluid turns Brown and cloudy within a few days, does this mean it has water contamination? it was brand new DOT 4 oil?
haha wtf is the old fluid going? the ground?

hey fishycomics you know that the rear brakes caliper to move it back you have to twist it back right do you bleed them the same way?

pressing the pedal like pumping a tire for air ?
No ofense but the World has already a million home mechanics jerking off their yards and sidewalks instead of asking help to a professional.
