, saved in gta 4 folder and now its runs with no lags

No offense but your system is not so great. A gtx 295 has trouble running this game @ high. You know why? Because there's a bunch of monkeys working on the conversion of GTA IV from xbox to PC at Rockstar.

when i start game i get 15-20 fps

after about 2 min it starts to lagg at about 4-5 fps

then i minimize and maximize gta4 and it is at 15-20 fps and after 2-3 min ...same story

hey dude try resetting your computer. like from factory state, like it just came out of the box. that works a lot of the time, because obviously you have over them inimum requirements and a good pc, and it should be running smoothly, so i reccommend resetting.

I got the same problem with GTA iv.

Currently running a tri sli setup 280 and q9500 at 4,3ghz. And 8gb of corsair dominator.

GTA iv means FPS problem, any other games is running perfect but not gta iv.

The fps is jumping between 60-100 in gta iv untill I touch a button on my keyboard and it starts laggs as hell. I believe it is software related.

All of u dont know that it is a problem of low power smps.playing games like gta 4 on high-end graphics card needs alot power so u need a 750 watt cooler master smps which will give ur graphics card all the power it needs and ur game will not lag.i know this b'coz i faced the same problem with 450 watt smps but i changed to 600 watt cooler master smps and i can play GTA 4 on 1680 by 1050 resolution with all very high and highest settings and it gives me 30-40 fps!!!!!!!!!!

I would not recommend having a cracked copy of GTA IV, as it can give unpredictable outcomes. I have been researching about these errors that most other players complain and it turns out that most of them have downloaded or cracked (pirated) copies of it mainly because of the new SecuROM technology built in the original copies of GTA IV which I have.

You mentioned that your GPU is an ATi Radeon HD 4550. Did you know that it only has 64-bit of memory interface compared to the cards that don't cause any lag in this game like the 4870/4870 X2 or 8800gt cards? Although your card fits the memory needed (256mb), it does not have the "balls" to keep it smooth, and I am talking about the card's bit interface. In other words, the lags are most likely caused by the very low amount of bit interface your GPU has. You'll need a GPU with 256-bit for this.

Also, it's not only rockstar that doesn't say the complete details of the GPU you need. Most developers only mention the memory size needed rather than including the bit-interface of the card. You may suggest this to them if you wish to help other players out there who have the same problem.

Seconded. My PC runs on max graphics with all the new games, but GTA IV gets me this insane lag. Can happen at start of game, can happen during, then it doesn't stop until I restart the game. It's basically shitty port...
