Morimoto is such a great role model, and I hope Tommy, Morimoto's biggest fan, becomes a great chef, and hopefully an American Iron Chef, so that he can replace Bobby Flay.
I think this result is not only due to standing cutting board. Decisive reason might be Oliginarity on presentation. Morimoto's creation had width for taste.
Flay's ingredients and skill seem practically comparable to anyone working at a Chipotle. His Tex Mex "flair" has NOTHING on the sophistication and flavor profiles of traditional Japanese cuisine, let alone Morimoto's avant garde style. Go suck some black beans and corn, Bobby Flay.
REMEMBER THERE ARE 5 ON ICA: BOBBY FLAY,MASAHARU MORIMOTO, MICHAEL SYMON, JOSE GARCES AND MARC FORGIONE SO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM AND THE HONORARY IRON CHEFS MARIO BATALI, WOLFGANG PUCK, CAT CORA AND SUPER IRON CHEF EMERIL LAGASSE THERE

roflmao Omg they are treating Tommy like he's some cancer kid XD. "Morimoto went to thank Tommy after the battle..." (my dub) " After failing in culinary college at age 18, Tommy became addicted to drugs. What happened to the innocent boy we all remember from Iron Chef New York? Find out on the next 60 min."
Anthony Amoroso killed it though in 09 vs Morimoto... I read his bio, seems to have been fortunate enough to have had mentors which are rare these days...
those new yorkers are not representying americans well their acting like white hill billy yuppies, and is no wonder people from other countries dont really like us, and chef bobby acted very disrespectfully
Bobby Flay is a typical insensitive New Yorker. He knew that standing on the cutting board would offend Morimoto, who was a guest in our country, and he did it anyway. Flay is no better than a hoodlum gang member. I'm embarrassed for him.
The scores from the "Zagats" were the most biased... Guaranteed they were among the top contributors to fund the event. The judges overall were pretty subjective. I wish we could have seen the scores broken down by category. Congrats Morimoto.
The judges were utter and complete shit. These two have great talent. End of story. For those sayin Bobby Flay can't cook, have you tried a dish both from Flay and Morimoto? It's not like most of you can cook like Flay.
@saywutdogg if he(morimotto) was rascist why would he specially spend time with a young white american kid and exchange caps with him, and also embrace another white american his opponent after winning? meh why am i even replying to your type
Many americans do not realize how intimidating being in a new country is to an immigrant, and especially with all of the obnoxious fans, miramoto was right in the middle of the heat. As the first iron chef to be competing in the american tour of the show, he had all of the pressure of being the first impression of Japan's culinary world, and surrounded by so many unfamiliar ppl, i feel he should be given a huge amount of credit for his talent under pressure.
Bobby was like a boy who was aggressively trying to prove himself. He was clearly under greater pressure in comparision with Morimoto. But he couldn't blame problem in his own cooking space,. Better to organized so that there was no water spoil on the floor and no electric shock. He might have great skill but he should learn from this experience.
Bobby should have taken the time to review a little bit on Japanese gastronomy and traditions so he would have known that they are very respectful with their culinary tools (as any chef should, but japanese chefs in particular). I'm glad that Bobby learned from this experience (it shows). He is a great chef and I hope he is now a better person after that match.
I've been a fan of Bobby Flay since I discovered the Iron Chef America Series, but this really disapointed me a lot. It was a terribly disrespectful thing to do, especially when you are the challenger and your country is HOSTING this event.
Really sucks to see morimoto being beaten in iron chef america. i have a feeling that some of the judges can sometimes be a lil biased towards the western cuisines.

i guess its true you stand for what you are and how you do it. Bobby Flay knew not to stand on the cutting board he seemed too nervous and angered by the challenge. I haven't seen him look like that he seemed rather normal when not going against anyone or on the shows. I'm not saying he's bad I like his cooking but his professionalism went down the drain during the match. It seemed that he has forgotten he was famous and became too selfish.
Bobby Flay sucks. I think all of us IC fans should band together to defeat this -6 menace. I've been going through all of the New York Battles thumbs upping all of the -6 comments :). Together, we will prevail!
I do not think Flay on his best day can outcook Sakai; I too think this was a stacked deck because the Japanese chefs did not win one "freaking match".
Flay is just so over because he is a darling of the Food Network--by the way, no one seems to mention that he acted like an asshole even in the rematch he won.
Iron Chef America is to Iron Chef what American pro wrestling was to Japanese wrestling in the 80's and 90's--a much less interesting product.
How come it is up to the folks on YT to call these douchebags douchebags but the so called media and journalists do not have the stones to do so? I would call these guys assholes to their faces as long as they did not have any weapons.

Along with the judges and such the small crowd would keep the noise to a minimum. Is that the case of Iron Chef America as well? If so whats the point of your comment, its a compitition, lighten up the cooks themselves didnt have any problem with it why should you?
I agree with Morimoto-san, Bobby Flay is not a chef. He shouldn't have stood up on the cutting board. The original Iron Chef is SO much better than the american knock-off. I <3 Morimoto-san!

Im glad Morimoto won and put Flay in his place. Flay has all the talent in the world, but he lacks any dignity or humility that someone should have. He acts like a punk and his actions are what is wrong with the US. He shows no respect, and I'm not talking about the "respect" that punks always say they are entitled to, but the respect for his craft and for his opponent. Standing on his cutting board, "raising the roof"..grow up Bobby and then you will EARN all the respect that you want.

Morimoto beats Flay(NY Battle): + 1 pt (M)
Flay beats Morimoto(21st Battle): + 1 pt (F)
So tat result Flay is OR not iron chef??
No matter is he cooks a good food o not, te disgrace act of jumping on chop board is unthinkable. How do ya feel a guest jumping on UR board? No matter Americans trying back him up o not, tat act should take notice. Did he ever trying 2 apologize this act?

Im glad Morimoto won and put Flay in his place. Flay has all the talent in the world, but he lacks any dignity or humility that someone should have. He acts like a punk and his actions are what is wrong with the US. He shows no respect, and I'm not talking about the "respect" that punks always say they are entitled to, but the respect for his craft and for his opponent. Standing on his cutting board, "raising the roof"..grow up Bobby and then you will EARN all the respect that you want.

it was so sweet that the honorary chef had tears in his eyes when Morimoto won. Love this battle.

that john guy just said there were bones in the crab =.= no offence but ohmygosh thats wat crabs are meant to be like.
man i m too biased but seriously everybody's taste palette is different.
eg i wuld prefer oriental food over food frm mexico or india for example
on a side note did anyone ever think that those judges may have been slightly biased to any one of the chefs? just a thought

i seen a lot of 1 sided comments here, i thinks we all food lover must stood fairly here.
