Great way to spring an ambush. Those ball bearings actually fly at a very high velocity for their weight. A small ordnance plant a few miles from my house manufactured Claymores during the late 60's. Oh yea, they were made after the Korean War when the US needed something to take out a human wave assault, and during Vietnam they would put these out 5 or more at a time in a half-circle and blow out Landing Zones aswell as taking out large groups of the enemy because it would shoot shrapnel from 1inch above ground all the way to head height if your in front you cant avoid getting hit.
the claymore we used was remote detonated. The mine is inactive unless a blasting cap is placed inside of it, when the cap explodes, the charge of c4 explodes, sending all the lil bb's of doom off on their happy voyage.

How the hell do claymore mines work? I see there's a few versions, but the "proximity" one I think its called?... where you just step infront of it and it blows up?
What the hell determines if something steps infront of it? are they laser guided? Trip wire? I don't know but it's been bugging the shit out of me for awhile now.
Yes on top of a Clamore are those two nodges where u apply thin metal strings and u can vary from connecting them to the ground and or to another CM mine
