  • I wish the whole peice was on here. I do own all peices with the quartet, but the cd skips on me. =(

  • Excelent video and music !!! Nice effects.. not too much.. not a little.. just the perfect for a classical music video.. the ghost of the players while they're playing.. nice !!!

  • These guys are cool. It's like the Beatles playing Bartok.

  • i like it!

  • I published this video on the Dutch website WELSTIJL (5 march) Kind regards Sem Mallée

  • The performance kinda creepy

  • yea if by creepy you mean awesome

  • dude look at the second violinist. he is freaking out hahaha

    Great by the way,

  • he certainly is!!!!!

    lol

  • Beautiful.

  • What an absolute master piece and what an ensemble. This,in fact, is the finest performance of the opening movement of Quartet # 4. Such a shame and a pity that the video recording is incomplete. I would have loved to hear this guys play the entire Bartók quartet oevre. Does anyone perhaps know where to procure either a video or a full audio album of this quartet performing Bartok's work?

  • THIS ISNT THE WHOLE THING. GODDAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Missing so much

  • bartok come mozart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are u ok?

    haha what is it?

  • Good group.

Not a bartok fan, but I enjoyed this.

  • This is so interesting.

  • wats wey the ppl in the background??

just appearin and disappearing, kinda strange

but i like the music, typically bartok!!

  • ... they have no legs :|

And this is very obviously 20th Century,

    very discord! :D

Definatly passing my music GCSE ;]

  • Afflation and fidget = Bartok's counterpoint?...

  • Bartok was an componist of the national school

  • I like Bartok!

  • This isn't classical music, this is 20th Century music.

  • maybe... regardless it's genius.

  • God i love bartok.

    Such a creative man.

  • This is not classical music, which refers to an era ending with Beethoven, but this is powerful music that has yet to be understood by a wide audience. Bartok was very intense and bleak. One feels stalked by profound violence and disillusionment; as if aliens had landed in the forest, taken up stringed instruments and devised their own tonality.

  • cobaltjones, you're thinking of the Classical period of classical music. Academics consider Bartok, as well as many other composers of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, to fall well within what they consider to be the broader genre of classical music. Classical music didn't end with the Romantic period. It continues today, believe it or not.

  • hiccupofirony you have noooo taste in classical music.

    Wonderful (=

How ever i hated the filming, it was awkward angles, and it was either too close or too far away. But the musicians were great (=

  • Nice performance of a modern masterpiece!

  • They remind me of the bad guys from Superman II.

  • They scare me....

  • sebastian gürtler is amazing :)

  • bartok string quartets are amazing! so much color and movement. I never get tired of listening to them. They get better and better each time.

  • The first time I heard a piece of Bartok, it made me cringe. I've been a complete fan ever since!

  • The weirdest music I've ever heard.

  • What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

  • i personally appologize for him, and put Light where mundane consciousness once was.

  • I wasn't condemning it. I really enjoy Bartok music. But if you hadn't noticed, this music is pretty... different. You don't have to be a self-righteous asshole.

  • only the self accused condemn.

  • hiccupofirony, you don't have to be jerk. And you should watch your arrogance. That might cause you some problems in the future.

  • keep on listening ! The first time my teacher gave me some Bartok I was terrified but got used to it and now I love it Bartok is one of the best composers !

  • Actually I just bought a recording of the entire string quartets. I love them!

  • bartok is a genius. love his string quartets so much.

  • Yeah ~ the 4th is just ........ waow etc..... It's great to see the first mvmt (at least a bit) here. No doubt extremely difficult to play... Bartok's music is ultrapowerful. He was also a great guy ~ he left his home country in protest at his govt siding with the n*z*s. For anyone who hasn't heard, chk out the violin&piano sonatas (there are 2), and the first two piano concertos, and perhpas the miraculous mandarin suite. These works are all just 'beyond great'... like much of Bartok's music :)

  • utterly haunting. thanks

  • I enjoyed.

    thanks for posting
