classic theme. if there was a live action movie of kof (no, not that crap of film they made which it didn't make sense) they should made this as a opening theme of the film. I can see it now.
@Neofcon I mean Esaka 96 was good but it's heavily overrated. I want to hear a 94 remix so badly since we only had of em. 95 and 98. This theme sounds more intense for the Japan Team
@Neofcon at least that is true. if Iori can have different sounding songs then why can't the main friggin character of the game can't? I thought when SNK wrote the song Goodbye Esaka i thought it would be finished...but yet..you still hear the 96 version in the Japan team's themes (we will discount 2001 here)
wow, I was a little kid the first time I heard this song back in 1994, ever since then Kyo has been my idol and model :P ...and 16 years have passed now, time sure does fly, Esaka forever!!
I love every single version of esaka. It sounds really good and very fitting for Kyo, I think.
It has a hero feeling to it. Sounds like true tournament music. If I were to turn on the tv to watch KOF live in battle, any version of esaka would truly represent Kyo.
And don't you just love the slightly orange chromatic tone the whole stage has? Really gives you the feeling of a megalopolis' sultry, humid, polluted air and pushes the dirtiness / grittiness factor of this stage just off the charts. Oh, and the referee-policeman is too class. Seriously, 15 years have gone by, polygonal graphics have taken over but I've yet to see a 3D beat 'em up stage nearly as arty, as overwhelming, as evocative as this one.
@ElodyTamTam Dude... this comment, and the description you wrote almost brought me to tears..! Why can't we keep getting this kind of quality game-experiences!??!?! This was organic, filled with art intentionality. I wonder what did happen to the creatives behind these concepts (until '96 you can see its the work of certain producing teams)
@ximeunneo: Same for your reply, man. That was really, really appreciated. :-)
Don't know what happened to SNK from '96 on, must have been a massive graphic designers turnover gone horribly, incredibly wrong. You can see that with the Samurai Shodown saga too: episodes 1 and 2 oozed sheer art from every pixel, from 3 on it was just average-looking games. Why can't we keep getting this level of quality? You have no idea how many times have I asked myself that question. It's depressing.
@ElodyTamTam Well, regarding to SS... 3 is also filled with art... and the remade all the sprites so it was really good... the bad part is the lack of a decent story. SS4, from my perspective is the best when it comes to game system... but we didnt get the same art-concept quality, tho i like the dark, intense and strong atmosphere... the playmore versions are just terrible.
KOF 97 is so bad in graphic design... not to say when there's no BGM, that's sucks!
I'm getting tired of those fucking narrow-minded english speakers who rate spanish comments only because they are in english and they can't understand them.
I think that's very difficult to find. If you wanna play it, or arrange, maybe you should try to copy listening. I made some arranged versions of game musics only by ear since it's more easy than find the sheets, chords, etc... in internet. Maybe sometimes, the chords, etc... are not the same, but that's also part of the arrange :)
Best tune of gaming history, by far. Sickest stage to ever grace a beat 'em up. One of the most memorable fighters ever (Benimaru). Back in '94, this shit blew me away. I was a sorta nerd at that time, then I saw this and I was like "well, I got it: when I grow up, I wanna be a post-nuclear androgynous badass. I've got a long way to go, but at least now I know my direction".
@juangaray2004 LOL, thanks for the advice man but incidentally I've been doing basic gym exercises on a daily basis for the past couple years or so, and now my historically nerdy chest / shoulders are starting to look good. :-)
this stage reminds me of Akira

98's arrange is better, what with the acoustic guitar buildup.
But this comes second. Still better than MIDI.

@BrickCity4eva sry, i don't need kof marvel super heroes mode ;c we need another Kof 98 or 2k2

@Octon11 that wwas what I was goin to say. We need this theme in KOF XIV.....which may turn out like 98 and 2002.

@BrickCity4eva Indeed, it's better than that emo rock shit they had in 96 and up >_<

@BrickCity4eva It just sounds better. More natural even.
Eh...at least the 96 version is better than the fatal fury themes combined :P

@BrickCity4eva What is this 2k1 you speak of? I thought it was just a myth!
The funny thing about Iori is all his themes sound good....well...cept for that one track from 2k2UM but still....
Neofcon 1 year ago
@Neofcon Yeah, 2001, is a memory we would ALL want to foget...because Iori much less everyone's theme except for the boss' = FAIL!
Iori's themes all have a distinct sound to them and all are different mixes instead of remixes of the same song over again like Terry and Kyo's....
