  • this station is going to end up like all the other NY stations...OLD AND DIRTY!

  • @123valid You sure about that?

  • @JamaicaQnzFreak I'm with 123 valid on this one. Take a look at the Archer Avenue station in Jamaica....Not massively old but pretty gross looking allready.

  • The station on your pics is so clean ;)

  • @fhuha Thank you!

  • i love this new station , i just got off this station so i can go to the statue of liberty. I also how there is now a connecting point in the station to head to the Whitehall St station "R". If only the W train was still there...and they should make a free transfer between those two stations, and the Bowling Green 4/5 station. All 3 stations are a block away from each other

  • @Localonthe8s They not making a free transfer to Bowling Green!

  • @JamaicaQnzFreak they're gonna have to eventually, just like the recent transfer from Court Sq- Courthouse Road G/7 in Queens. And there is no free transfer between South Ferry 1 and Whitehall St R either?

  • @Localonthe8s I also like how*

  • how come when i'm on a R train, it doesn't say "transfer is available to the 1 train and the staten island ferry". R trains have R160A's now, i know because i already rode on one.

  • @7susanrox Ah those announcements are not reprogrammed!

  • only if cortlandt was open

  • Hopefully by 2015 it will be open!

  • 1 Broadway 7th Avenue Local

    R/W Broadway Local

  • Okay....!!

  • thats a nice station

  • It surely is!

  • When did this open?

  • Its in the 1st sentence of the paragraph under Video #2's description!

  • Awesome video of the South Ferry station!!!! I had never seen it before!!! :)

  • Thanks...glad you like it!

  • ah thats nice

  • It looks really good! I miss the old South Ferry station, I was able to go there 2 months before 9/11

  • It sure does and the last time I was @ the old South Ferry was the day b4 the opening of the new one!

  • I'm so happy i got to see the new south ferry station!

  • Cool :)!

  • th old one was better and alot cooler.

  • Oh ok cool!

  • Was this the first new New York Subway station in almost 20 years?

  • I guess so....I honestly don't know!

  • yes because of the archer subway extension

  • Archer Avenue subway extension have nothing to do with how old South Ferry station is!

  • i under stand that and uhh the first NEW station in 20 years would be those on the archer ave station

  • no, they re-did bowling green in 2007 i think.

  • number one the redid bowling Green in 70's, and in 1995. Number 2 redoing a station doesn't count as a new station opening

  • Ah wrong....nothing in the new station was redone. Everything is new. If they redid the old South Ferry then that is not a new station opening!

  • but i was talking about bowling green!

  • @JamaicaQnzFreak Would it be an old station opening?

  • @tryithere No....it was closed for a reason!

  • i like this video of the R62A the train

  • Thanks!

  • wats gonna happen to the loop station? is it gonna be used as a lay up or just totally abandoned?

  • The outer loop will still be used by the 5 going by and the inner loop is closed off....it will be used when the 2 and 5 train switch lines!

  • the south ferry loop will use as a lay up

  • Lay up for what train?

  • they will lay up the Trains that are Out of Service

  • If its out of service it will go to the yard!

  • You would think that the MTA would of gave the 1 line newer cars to compliment this new station, but no the MTA doesn't care to spend money to make it a 21st century system. If they did the R62 would look like the R142, hinting at those cars using 80's technology and this station would have electronic signs instead of cardboard signs.

  • The day R-142's will hit the 1 line I'll be happy, but since they so-called perfect R-62A's are doing fine....I guess its no reason for them to retire anytime soon!

  • This is very nice Curtis & let me ask you this is the New South Ferry station has one track or 2 tracks & after the one train leaves Rector Street does the 1 train goes on the upper level to go the new south ferry

  • Thanks and its 2 tracks!

  • What happen to the old south ferry loop? Did they demolished to make room to build a new one?

  • Nothing has happen to the old South Ferry, its closed off from the public. Its still being used b/c the inner loop is still used by the 5 train going back to Bowling Green on the Uptown and The Bronx side and new station is slighty below the old one!

  • ima bet that in the old days when the southferry loop was built they must of ran shorter train consists at that time before doing 8-10 car consists now. excellent video :)

  • Thank you and nah I believe it was a 5 car platform train back in the olden days!

  • I miss the curve :(

  • Me 2 :(!

  • Why didn't they put the inner loop in the new station for the 5 train?

  • And why would they do that? The new station is slighty below the old station so that wouldn't make any sense!

  • oh i never knew that the new station is slighty below the old station

  • Sure is!

  • Ok cool!

  • That thing leaving was just as loud as the old station was. But it was AWESOME!

  • Yeah it was loud like the old station, but it was wonderful to experience!

  • give it two weeks the walls will be yellow and the concrete black. none-the-less i'm super excited for this station.

  • LMAOOOOO....give the station a chance. Yes the station looks great!

  • The new south ferry station opened on monday now we don't have to exit at the first five cars anymore nice video how do you upload your videos?

  • Thanks and I upload my videos from either my memory card or where I converted them!

  • when did this station open?

  • I guess you didn't read my description!

  • i just did.

  • I mentioned in the description when it opened :)!

  • yesterday!

  • Very nice video. The Entrance/Exit at 0:11 reminds me of the Entrances/Exit for the Metro down in Washington DC

  • Thank you....your right its kind of look similar to DC's Metro's entrance/exit!

  • wow, the new station looks nice. I'm looking forward to visit it when i come to NYC next summer.

  • Yes it looks real nice, when you see in person you'll love it more :)!

  • What get out of here wow OMG this is beautiful man wow I love it I really wish I was there to see it wow they really fix the south ferry station that fast and is it near the old one.
