  • very different from how i've performed it, it's realllllllllllllllly slow here.

    but good overall.

  • three words: Doesn't. Sound. Indian. Nasal sound is essential to Dravidian just as curry is essential to laksa. Need I say more?

  • im singing this song for my good as gold choir..its so much funn

  • Hmm... is that Toh Ban Sheng?!

  • yup

  • The great thing about this song is that it can be interpreted so many different ways - there's really no right answer on how to perform it. Different conductors will choose to emphasize different parts of the song. Paranjoti didn't include much when he wrote down the music, so it's up to the imagination of the conductor and the ensemble.

BTW - the tempo here is slightly behind the version on Earthsong's website (the company that publishes the music) and the pronunciation is almost the same.

  • I sing with the Paranjoti Academy Chorus and this is far from how we perform it!

    Good intepretation though!

  • this song is a beeeeeyotch when it comes to pinpoint precision on the staccati. awesome job you guys!

  • this arrangement is weird the change in syllable cuts it off and makes it sound a bit snappy

  • its nice...but too slow..

  • this is coooooool!!!!

  • Very interesting nuances. I performed this with a district choir this year. However, our version was definately down a few steps.

  • The acustics of the church? made this sound way better than it most likely is.

  • Well... that's actually the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore, not a church :)

  • that's pretty sweet. I'm in the USA Youth Ensembles, and we are doing this same song... It's a bit slow for me though...
