Tough to argue with these great goals... but I have another. A lot of people forget about Game 2 of the 1987 Canada Cup. That one went into double-overtime and Canada was facing elimination because the Soviets had won the first game in Montreal. And of course, Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky teamed up on that game winner as well. Gretzky says that was the best game he ever played.
America may have more teams on the NHL, but Hockey will ALWAYS be Canada's sport, and Canada's sport alone. These goals are all proof that hockey is Canadian
Finland vs Sweden 2011 final 6-1 :p ..But Canada Ruulls too. Getzlaf is one of my fav player in Nhl.In Finnish league teams play''Canada style''hockey most than any other league in europe..Btw Crosby is better than ovechkin when he is full strength. Sry for shitty spelling

Great choices for #1, #2, and #3... without a doubt the 3 most iconic/important goals in Canadian hockey history. I love this game, and I love this country. It's our game.
how can you possibly top a line pairing of gretzky and Mario... i accually felt kind of bad for Russia in that one.. The Eberle one was pure determination and was on the epic scale of a 9.5, Crosby is better then henderson purely for the idea that Canada beat the U.S in salt lake, lost the first game badly then got revenge on home turf. Thats just my thoughts
I was born 5 yrs after Henderson, and was just 10 in 1987 and didnt appreciate hockey much back then. But I can tell you that I remember the Eberle goal in 2008 and it still gives me chills. And Sid the kid last February was the Henderson/Lemieux moment of my lifetime, beyond a doubt. ...But I have the 72 series on DVD, and have watched it countless times. But oh how I wish I was taken back in time to that September afternoon. My dad heard Cole call it on the radio.
I rly didn't like the choice for the first one the rest gave me goose bumps so I expected # 1 to be amazing but I was dissapointed it didn't seem that great
i was only two yr old during the 72 series so this was the first BIG international game i remember although the 87 game winning goal was alot nicer this was a better played game depending on if you favor defence and goaltending over 6 to 5 shoot outs ...still both were HUGE games for Canada no doubt at all
i was only two yr old during the 72 series so this was the first BIG international game i remember although the 87 game winning goal was alot nicer this was a better played game depending on if you favor defence and goaltending over 6 to 5 shoot outs ...still both were HUGE games for Canada no doubt at all
Crosby's was the best. in '72, Canada should've had the series won by game 8, they were overwhelming favourites. In the Olympics, people were doubting Canada to win having Russia and Sweden as the teams to play in the final. Canada had all the pressure in Canada to produce gold, especially with what happened in '06. Personally i had the US as my darkhorse for the tourney and Canada-USA games are more important and more entertaining now then Canada-Russia. Thats why Crosby's was better.
@LeafsForever10 I disagree, If you weren't born then, you can't say Crosbys was better. I'll never forget Crosbys goal, It had all the action, Parise tying it up in the last 30 seconds and the golden boy scoring the winner. However, Hendersons goal had more significance. It was Democracy vs. Communism, In our mind Canada HAD to win, we rallied back and Henderson's goal changed the way of Canadian life. All the respect to Crosby and olympics. 1. Henderson, 2.Crosby, 3.Lemieux.
@LeafsForever10 Had all the pressure? Were more important? My God man, you really have no idea about the Cold War or just what happened in that final game in '72, do you? I tell you what: you find footage of Crosby and the rest of Team Canada charging a squad of militia armed with machine-guns to prevent one of their staff from being thrown in the nearest gulag, and I'll concede the Olympic Team in 2010 was more 'pressured' in a 'more important' game.
I would say #3 should be before #2...Lemieux and Gretzky together, you can't compare any of this with Crosby's lucky goal..but yeah it was nice to win over the USA last winter.
@ThousandThrills Agreed. Also, a lot of people forget that back in the 80's the Canada Cup was the most important international hockey tournament around. This is because professionals were still barred from participating in the Olympics, and the IIHF Men's Tourney (then as is now) took place during the NHL playoffs so many of the world's best players didn't attend. The Canada Cup was the only place you could see the best from each country compete against each other without restriction.
Where was that goal Yzerman made at Salt Lake City olympics in 2002. If he had not made that goal than we would have won the game and probaly been at the gold medal game.
Canadians in hockey can not play the game fair when you are subscribed to lose Dou apartment I would not so bad but they can be a bit outnumbered like gypsies. but Canadians are just nice asshole troll and link land from us (in history has managed more than Canada.) times got a lot of power over your mouth in hockey .... and greeting Czech Republic

This brought back a lot of great memories. But how privileged is the announcer that gets to say, "Mario Lemiux to Gretzky back to Lemiux GOAL!" Epic moment in hockey history.
I considered it but the one in game 8 is a much bigger goal that directly led to winning the series and I wanted to keep the goals to the most important one in each tournament.
@Conquerer13 I hear you. I just wanted to draw more attention to it. I think more people need to praise that goal. It was such a beauty. And without it, game 8 could have meant nothing.
@mafutnyoas Not a great goal? Are you high? Skill wise it's much better than most of these goals. A brilliant dangle between the defense, and then a shelf job while being hip checked. And game 8 would have meant nothing if Henderson didn't score the winner in game 7. I understand Conquerer's reasoning for not putting it in this video but please don't try and say it wasn't great.
@jeroliver No, youre right. The first time I saw it was on an old 13" black and white tv my parents had downstairs. Everytime since, I've never managed to see the dangle part, only the shot. I don't know how in Canada after all these years every replay I've seen of it never showed the puck flip, but ya that was 10x better than I remember it.
Crosby's 2010 goal should be #1. Paul Henderson was a great goal too, but that was for the best of 2 countries. Crosby's was for the best in the World.
Exactly. There is so much that makes it number 1, but maybe the biggest thing is the score and current situation before that goal. There's 30 or so seconds left and it's a tie but Russia has more wins than Canada. If Henderson doesn't score, the USSR wins and the entire Canadian nation is dethroned as the best hockey nation in the world and the team becomes a disgrace. If Crosby doesn't score, overtime continues and Canada likely continues to dominate.
Canada has a tremendous hockey history, a long history of epic victories (some captured on this great compilation - thanks!) and players selected to the national team play with great pride and passion. No need to take anything away from other countries - we should be happy they love hockey also. I have followed Team Canada for 38 years - and in another 38 years we will have just as many huge victories and heroes. Count on it!

Guys like Rafalski, Kane, Kessel, Miller are pretty good, although you guys have the majority of all the good players.
@villemoilol Dustin Brown stinks?? Fuk U lol, ur prolly just jealous dat Dustin Brown always owns ur pussy ass FInland boy Teemu Selanne wen da Kings play da Ducks

Ahhh. Great memories. Great selections. There are a few more, but I think you've picked the right 10. Honourable mention should go to Steve Larmer's break-away in the '91 Canada Cup. Man I love that sport!
I agree with all those picks, but Anson Carter's OT goal in the 2003 worlds is more than convincing enough to be in the top 10. Not to mention Lucky Luc's shootout winner in the 94 worlds as well.
Great vid, I must say I agree totally with the choices. Glad to see Lecavelier's in there, which was omitted from another top ten. Also, glad to see Crosby's was no. 2. Lemieux's goal is tainted for me because there should have been an interference call on Hawerchuk, great goal though.
All goal is "tained" in it´s own way, because one can ever find some hit or collide or hooking or whatever. It doesn´t matter, referee is for that reason on the ice, to call it foul or let the action continue.
