Question for you.Is that a Toca Duro Didgeridoo? Looks just like the ones you can get off of the zzounds website and musicansfriend site and also what is the length and inner diameter of that one.The didge i have is 51" long and looks just like the one your playing.Great playing by the way.You def have that circular breathing down.
What's the diameter and length of your didge. I've been messing around with a plain ol' PVC Pipe I bought and I don't think it has the right resonance.
doing it with the cheeks is the trick, wel works for me anyway. The thing is though when you push out the air from there you need to adjust the tightness of your lips acordingly, maybe also adjust at how hard / soft your pushing the air out. At the beginning when i did it i pushed to hard n i ended up creating a sharp pop sound when i did it
A decent replacement for about $500 is the Eclipse drum by 1tone...theres a bunch of vids on here of them and they may not be as pure as the Hang but they get a similar sound. Ordered mine a few days ago!
I started making my own PVC didge. I tried to do the circular breathing with a friend´s one. It seems to me that i haven´t got enough blow in the mouth to keep the sound while i´m breathing... should i keep practicing, because i know the principle, but i haven´t got blow enugh...???
how many days did you spent until you started to make a continuous sound??
i tried for the longest time to circular breathe too, i gave up and tried it out a few years later when i was digging threw the gagrage and i found my didg! i picked it up almost instantly then! so take a brake mabe, then pick it up again
However... Probably the best thing you could buy is an yidaki from northern territory but if you haven't enough money you can use a pvc tube. It has to be thick, with a 3,5/4 cm diameter and 1.10/1.20 long. Water orange pipes are pretty good. Their sound is worst than this one but the techniques you use to play are the same you'd use with a good instrument.
thanks, i have this red wood didge with a really wide wax mouthpiece and it has an extremely low tone, not sure if i like it, but an aboriginal carved it and all
You are pretty good. I give you a useful SUGGESTION that will make you improve a lot. Change your instrument. I know very well that one. It has no backpressure at all, man.
"Backpressure usually refers to the pressure exerted on a moving fluid by obstructions or tight bends in the confinement vessel along which it is moving, such as piping or air vents, against its direction of flow.
For example, an automotive exhaust muffler with a particularly high number of twists, bends, turns and right angles could be described as having particularly high backpressure [1].
it took me awhile... i started out buying a three set package deal coming with three didges: red wood, bamboo, and pvc pipe. i started getting into it but didn't know about the method. i dropped it and left it in my room for awhile. six months ago i picked it up again and practiced every day for atleast an hour. i used advice from the internet and the straw method, and eventually i got it down one day. its all about determination and just the amount of time your willing to put into it

what's the secret to keep the sound as good as the lung's sound when making the circular breathing?
I'm blowing out the air from my cheeks, but the sound is more like just buzzin', you know.

@Brads4e
Practice! You'll start to get familiar with the movement of your cheeks and the positioning of your lips for certain sounds. Experiment!

I' am almost positive that they cost a couple thousand and theirs like a 3-4 year waiting list since their hand crafted in Switzerland

lol at about 1:09 it starts to sound like your saying didgeridoo
Airhead1101 2 years ago 2
Not too bad. PVC can't touch on the sound of real wood didgeridoos, though.

That's sounds great! I'm making a PVC didgeridoo right now, but have had better luck with 1-1/2" abs with a pvc mouthpiece.

It sounds cool to me :) Very good. I'd like to make one. How do you get the bell shape on the end?
Rubystars1000 3 years ago
Very cool, and very impressive sound considering it's PVC - now I am definitely going to make a cheapo PVC

those sounds are one of the coolest things about the didge. the aborigines would imitate the howl of a dingo or even the call of a kookaburra.

get a eucalyptus didge!!!!

ETc, eTc..."
This term is even used refered to didjeridoos. To have longer circular breathing (that means easier rythms) a high backpressure is recommended.

yeah once i got it its actually a lot easier than i thought. I am getting a slider didge to replace my current modern one.

this didge made of plastic tubing?
mine is made from pvc tubing. the more corners the better in terms of low frequency drones
