Holy crap, you're so dumb. Nevada the way he pronounced it is CORRECT. You uneducated east coast-eners are the ones who pronounce it the wrong way. (Nev-o-duh)
@dslite804 define "correct"..We don't say Los Angeles the way the Spainish do. You know that it's technically wrong to only call people from the United States "American", I'm sure people from England think everything we say is wrong..
@marksprinkle They can correct me and I will not give a flying f****. I will pronounce it the way I learned it and the way everyone else outside of Nevada says it.
@marksprinkle I only learned about this "controversy" b/d of the Air Show crash. I noticed Anderson Cooper was purposely & forcefully saying Nevada the weird way Nevadans want, sometimes he would slip and say it the normal way & Nevadian on social media were more upset about that then the plane crash. Someone posted a link to NBC segment talking about how to say Nevada. I can't believe a state with #1 unemployement,#1 foreclosure rate and their worried about how rest of America says states name
Sorry to burst your bubble, but he is saying it right.
Check out the correct way to say Nevada (nuh-VAA-duh)...just search for "The correct way to pronounce NEVADA" (a youtube video by NBC)
And just because it's origins are Spanish, doesn't mean we pronounce it as such (otherwise many other states and cities would be pronounced differently...California, Florida, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, Los Angeles, etc., etc.).
@sharptube2010 This vid is from after he messed up, the previous day he said it wrong and got booed, then his aid informed him on the correct pronunciation and he got it right...he repeats himself to show he learned his mistake.
If you ask ANYONE in Nevada, it's pronounced Nev-ADD-uh. So the person posting this video is stupid.
Yes, it IS a Spanish word, but please remember cognates are not always pronounced the same way. (like idea: eye-DEE-uh in English, ee-DAY-uh in Spanish)
The map is not the territory, as they say, but that IS how we pronounce it out here. Otherwise, you will be looked on as a tourist and bugged for change. We lead the nation in suicide percentage and foreclosures per capita. It doesn't matter if it's Spanish or not. I do like how Spanish speakers cannot say "jump" to save their life. "Yump." LOL.
If he wins, America is doomed. We have truly dumbed down. A current president that bragged about his poor grades in college and a prospect who graduated almost last in his class. WTF!??!
Well Nevada is Spanish for snow-capped! But he pronounced it with an American accent. I don't think he said it wrong, I've heard everyone in Nevada pronounce it that way. I speak Spanish, but when I speak in English I pronounce it the same way McCain did. Is just like a person who don't know Spanish and tries to read Spanish, it will not sound right. Just try it yourself how would you pronounce it, then have someone who speaks Spanish say it to you! The right way to say it is in Spanish though!
It is Ne-VAD-uh, it isn't Ne-VAH-duh.

What are you talking about? He pronounced it correctly. If you say it the other way, Nevadans will correct you on the spot.
