King (Chinook) Salmon spawning in the Pere Marquette River

SSW of Baldwin a mile or two. This bed is just up from one of the deepest bends in the PM that contains a 10 foot deep hole. But this kind of spawning is in the whole flies only section of river for dozens of miles. A thousand fish can be seen in one day. That's why they call it the Crown Jewel of the Mighty PM and give it the highest level of protection in Michigan.

where at in baldwin is this? i can get to baldwin in about 2 hours. ill make the drive to get a few salmon.

I've been to this spot I live in Baldwin. Can catch hundred's of these salmon in 1 season.

Wow here in the UK The salmon come from the sea around september to december to spawn ..... but the salmon are diffferent types.....

Years ago i used to go and watch the Steelies spawn in TINY headwater tribs here in Ontario,thanks for taking me back.Nice post.
