So, how badly did you nick the sword? Do you think just the wood would scuff it, or would it take nails to really hurt the blade? I'm thinking of buying this sword, but I'd like to know more about it first... Mostly whether the blade is really a decent cutting steel or a crappy knockoff.
@SakamaruNetoi The wood alone wouldn't have done much at all. The nails did the damage. It wasn't that much, but the edge had some nicks and had rolled a little around where the nails struck; I have long since repaired the damage.
Also it's Hanwei; all their swords are made good steel and should be properly heat treated. Though their western swords have a tendancy to not have much of an edge out of the factory, the side sword seems to escape that.
@TheChannelofChibiX3 It can be used left handed; it'll function similarly to how it does in the later half of the video when I have to turn it around and use the other edge due to the damage sustained during recording (assuming you want the rings on the correct side, anyway).
So yes it can be used left-handed, though it might be a little more awkward.
@ScarletAvatar The balance feels good to me, but I'm hardly an expert so anything I have to say on the matter probably holds about as much weight as a bridge made of bits of string. And air.
@obl173r470r Fuck, it seems I can't take a step without someone bringing up that LP.
Yes, I will finish it. I've been very busy this year, is all. I'll try and get some up after exams are done, but I may or may not have work placement to deal with, so no guarantees on actually finishing it yet.
@obl173r470r "Costume"? I wear that coat all the time. It's not overly warm (despite its appearance) and it's made of waxed cotton so it's pretty handy for if it happens to start raining.
I also have a rapier but that's just for show, and before then I got a katana but I'm not a huge fan of it. Not because it's a bad katana - I'm just not that big on katanas anyway. That and I fucked up the saya and have yet to fix it.

How tall are you? I'm roughly 6 ft 3 and I'm wondering if this sword would be good for my height.
OkamiReneru 1 month ago
@OkamiReneru I'm about 5'10", so it should be alight. As far as I know European swords don't depend that much on the wielder's height anyway.

Does the guard on this sword restrict it to right handed use? Or can it be used left handed?

@TheChannelofChibiX3 Theres a guy here on youtube doing a cut test and he's left handed so I'd say it's OK

Great sword, great video, but is that kind of clothing necessary?

@Urpotus They're my normal clothes, so... yes.

Also, trying to get one of these. They match my favorite style of fighting, so it's looking good

I said outfit not costume lol, and it does look like a pretty awesome coat, wonder if any stores near me sell one like it...
Anyway, how you been? was sad to see you not uploading any vids until this one. Any chance of finishing that fallout 3 lp? It was good.

Silly blaze. Good to see a vid from you again, is this the only other sword you've bought? And nice outfit btw, really suits the bid.

Disclaimer: Many plastic bottles were harmed in the making of this video. And one wooden cutting stand. And the sword.
