Harvey Milk was very intelligent, progressive, opinionated, (which was shared by a growing 40% of the global community- and still growing), and he wasn't assaulted, he was murdered. So, throwing shit at Prejean would be a slap across that vacant face of hers.

Yep I dont think she did anything that terrible here. She was of course idiotic in her opinion (but an opinion itself cannot be innately wrong.. as an opinion) and she was asked to express it.
I hope people will bare in mind that people over-react to alot of things (due to political correctness) and the media sensationalize too, so this isnt some kind of sign that gay people are intolerant, or want to control speech, its just another example of ott political correctness.

Let me break this down to you. Carrie Prejean is advocating denying rights to a minority because of her personal beliefs. She is so intolerant of anyone who does not share her sexual orientation that she wishes to arbitrarily deny them the right to marry. Perez may have been uncivil for calling her a 'bitch', but she is the one who thinks that the 14th Amendment should only apply to straight people.
