When I was first told about the movie (before I went to see it), I thought that Uhura wasn't going to like Kirk in the beginning 'cuz he was a douche, but that she was going to realize he was a good guy (deep, deep, deep, DEEP down...), and that she would get with him...guess that ship never left the harbour...*shrugs*

But it would have been predictable. They'll most likely explore it next movie, but I think going with the smart guy turned the tide in the film, which I liked. The cast said it themselves that it made the cast more relatable.
