me and my girlfriend are going to manilla this year in the beginning of februrary and i was wondering where we can watch some live tinikling performance
@cghieth What do you mean rendition? It's the same. When there are many dancers, they can do this. They can also cross the bamboo if there is a smaller group of dancers. You can use a pair of bamboo for a pair of dancer.
Nice video! The same kind of dance is also popular in India and named as "Charo dance" as well as "Bamboo dance". Great video. Thanks for upload it on Youtube!
@daflipboi4u Thanks God Bless for you too my loved Filipino live in Dubai very far of me!! but i hope in God what he can travel at Monterrey Mexico !!! Thank for MAMASITA I like it´s jiji kisses and hugs.!!
@ToniForeverLives If you don't like this then look up ka singkil... Even look up sagayan, your cultures dance doesn't fail :P you just didn't look up the correct ones.
Can someone answer my question.. Is there any way i can download this for my daughter's school project? I can't open this website at the school i work at so, i am trying to find another way to do it?
can i ask you something..? well, we need to perform a folk dance for our presentation in mapeh.. we are 14 (members) but the thing is that, we have sooo many boys.. only 2 out of 14 are girls the rest are boys... umm,, is there a folk dance which we can do.? i think it's not necessary for it to be a Philippine folk dance in case you know something we can do... i hope you can help us.. thank you..
please..! anyone who can help us, reply to me and suggest something.. thank you very much.. :)
But when I was young, I saw on television a different kind of tinikling: there were four bamboo sticks and the music wasn't the same in the video; there were five dancers, four ladies and an old man with native costumes (they're weren't influenced by Spanish culture); how strange...
I'm sorry for my incorrect English(I'm from Italy)... ( ^_^')
This is the original tinikling costume, it's beautiful and very attractive. hope anyone there would follow these because some tinikling dancers costume are too simple, make it more appealing.
I love this dance, talaga. Since I'm in usa, I'm lucky to have a philippine performing arts nearby that performs this dance live couple times a year. Maraming salamat posting ng video ;-)

Hi friend, not sure if anyone replied to you yet but you are correct. This type of Philippines folk music is an influence frm the Spanish who colonised our islands for almost 3 and a half centuries. The music is played with a 14 string bandurria, an evolution from the spanish 12 string bandurria. The Spanish left it's mark on the present Phils culture in the music and arts and had fused with the local indigenous cultures. One may even say that the Phils is the only hispanised country in Asia.
thanx a lot! I knew about the spanish rule&influence, but it did not expect it in the music... annyway, I love the sound of your music. And I like the fact that I was able to recommend filipino music to my pa', who's not too much into pentatonic asian music, but listenes to a lot of spanish&mexican music.
@yunacons I would like to know what is he difference is between the BAYANIHAN Dance Company and LEYTE Dance Theater. There seem to be some touchy comments posted that one is not the other. It is simply a matter of keeping the dance companies distinct, or is there some untoward rivalry? Thank you. I really enjoy the dancing of both companies. Makes me happy.
What is the kind of music used as a back-up for the kawayan??? hmm, I am a Filipino and I am a visayan, more engaged of Mindanaoan (was it correct?) culture.... but, I was forcely assigned to take over a group that will be dancing this 3rd week August, and we will be dancing tinikling... so please ppl, help me in wat kind of back-up music should i use.... thnx!

Bayanihan is not a copyrighted name. It is a Pilipino word and can by used by any organization. But this is not the point I was commenting on. It is the way they are dancing. Dont say that I do not know what i am talking about. If you had more experience watching international performances you will see how folk dances are modified to fit international taste but that does not mean it losses its folk dancing appeal. Don't belittle me by saying that I do not know what I'm talking about.
