  • @ZirakuDO its a pleasure to hear that from you..hehe

  • Wow!

I'm Filipino and I love this dance a lot!

But when I was young, I saw on television a different kind of tinikling: there were four bamboo sticks and the music wasn't the same in the video; there were five dancers, four ladies and an old man with native costumes (they're weren't influenced by Spanish culture); how strange...

I'm sorry for my incorrect English(I'm from Italy)... ( ^_^')

  • ow that would hurt if your foot got stuck in those sticks. Trust me, I know >.<

this is amazing dancing! I want to incorporate some of these steps in our dance

  • what is the title of the song?

  • Wowwwwwww pinas!!!!!ang galing!!!<33

  • I am curious if the guy in checkered shirt is playing a lolo or really is one.

  • i did that for my 4th and 5th grade musicle i was in the show case that is really cool but it takes a while to get it perfect

  • nice..

  • This is the original tinikling costume, it's beautiful and very attractive. hope anyone there would follow these because some tinikling dancers costume are too simple, make it more appealing.

  • I love this dance, talaga. Since I'm in usa, I'm lucky to have a philippine performing arts nearby that performs this dance live couple times a year. Maraming salamat posting ng video ;-)

  • just reminding how precious our culture and people old folk dance but its in our blood for my friends abroad....

  • i find that singkil is better its 100% traditional here its too many spanish influenced

  • From a westerners point of view.. it's so much more interesting to watch the pre-Hispanic dances.

  • me and friend knew how to do this and when we had to do it in PE our teacher made us do the dance where the poles crossed

  • its a fun way of fma training and disguise (quick grasshoppa...lol jk)

gives new meaning to the slang, Oh Snap!

    sakit youn pare sakit!

  • we just finished this in p.e, and our choreography can not compare to you guys. It was hard but also fun

  • my friend does this type of dancing, its amazing

  • i have to do this in p.e and its alot harder than it looks but its really fun

  • When and where was this performed - in Leyte or in New Hampshire?

  • in New Hampshire..this version of tinikling was 5 yrs ago..the ldt has a new routine on this one...its more exciting..

  • Wow Philippines !

  • we tried this as school its not as easy as it looks

  • ohh.. i see...thanks but not convincing still...

  • verry interesting. the dance is south asian, but the music seems of hispanic influence. please correct me if wrong.

  • Hi friend, not sure if anyone replied to you yet but you are correct. This type of Philippines folk music is an influence frm the Spanish who colonised our islands for almost 3 and a half centuries. The music is played with a 14 string bandurria, an evolution from the spanish 12 string bandurria. The Spanish left it's mark on the present Phils culture in the music and arts and had fused with the local indigenous cultures. One may even say that the Phils is the only hispanised country in Asia.

  • thanx a lot! I knew about the spanish rule&influence, but it did not expect it in the music... annyway, I love the sound of your music. And I like the fact that I was able to recommend filipino music to my pa', who's not too much into pentatonic asian music, but listenes to a lot of spanish&mexican music.

  • @yunacons Totally!! You are super right, also in Mexico we have the same kind of dance!!!

  • @yunacons great info... this information will help me..

im looking for instruments used in tinikling music

but unfortunately, its hard to find.. :(

and i need this tmrw for my music class..

    thanks by the way..

  • @yunacons I would like to know what is he difference is between the BAYANIHAN Dance Company and LEYTE Dance Theater. There seem to be some touchy comments posted that one is not the other. It is simply a matter of keeping the dance companies distinct, or is there some untoward rivalry? Thank you. I really enjoy the dancing of both companies. Makes me happy.

  • Wow awesome!!

  • very nice

  • This is not a circus, it is called folk dancing in a higher level. Have you seen internationa folk dance from European countries, Latin countries and Middle East contries. They are modified for international performances as well as the music to go with the dances. So open your eyes and go out more often to see performing arts in the higher form. Thank you.

  • I am a college graduate, major in Music and Folk dancing. I know what I am talking about and please dont comment of things you know little about. Thanks.

  • graduate ka pala e bat di mo alam pinagsasabi mo? what you're saying reflects on who u are. may i ask why is it the title written with Bayanihan's name? i guess this group is ballet and not folk dancing ok. is this the real bayanihan or just one of those group trying to ride on to Bayanihan's fame?

  • Bayanihan is not a copyrighted name. It is a Pilipino word and can by used by any organization. But this is not the point I was commenting on. It is the way they are dancing. Dont say that I do not know what i am talking about. If you had more experience watching international performances you will see how folk dances are modified to fit international taste but that does not mean it losses its folk dancing appeal. Don't belittle me by saying that I do not know what I'm talking about.

  • yeah MrIvanozz, Tinikling is a folklore dance. The word Tinikling is a light reference to "tikling", the bird species. This dance represents birds cleverly avoiding the bamboo traps set by hunters.

  • yeah i know the dance tinikling. but one thing im asking is why do they use the name of Bayanihan, maybe for them to be seen directly if youre going to search for the real Bayanihan, isn't it awful and shameful for them coming up with that idea?

  • @MrIvanozz Tagalog/Filipino language lesson for you: The word "bayanihan" comes from the root word "bayan" which means community. "Bayanihan" then implies a sense of community where in people help each other. There is NOTHING SHAMEFUL ABOUT IT. It is instead a value that is to uphold and be proud of.

  • @ladyhendrix Actually, its from BAYANI which means patriot/exalted individual/sacrificial person. BAYANIHAN means sacrificing(like helping) of a community for the good of all.

It's BAYANI with a suffix of -an modified -han. PEACE :D

  • haha..:))gling2.!!oyea.!

I managed to dance this tinikling during my HS days w/o tchanting and it really modernized.

Can it evolved with all the bamboo poles covered with thorns and the floor with broken glass. Just joking...hehe

  • woah, this it cool! lovely costumes!

  • Ok...Why keep the fire on when the biggest deal in this page is the dance itself? Anyway, the dance was really topnotch...It's the first time I watched tinikling involving more people than the usual. It was indeed fun and amazing. Thank you for uploading this video. :)

  • galing ah! it's great..love it...bravo Pinoy!

  • Walang kang isip ano? Obvious you have no clue as to what your talking about. AY sus na Kakahiya talaga. Its a good thing you didn't use your REAL Family name. Because you would only shame them by your Bias comments. In actualality, the Chinese are our ancestrial Family. So you teasing them your teasing yourself. Go back to SCHOOL if you do not know the Origin of ASIA. Thats China. Sus na kakahiya ka talaga oh! MAN you make our Filipino Culture look stupid.

  • WTF?!?!?!

Hey, Filipinos have feelings too, and they're humans, not puppets...or maybe it's because you're too much of a bigoted sheißekopf to care?

Sheesh, what an idiot you are.

P.S. Please use correct pronunciation and capitalization next time.

  • this is cool.

  • this is not bayanihan..please remove the bayanihan in your video title...one should not use its name for any other purpose.thank you
