  • Wait..this beyatch is a freaking Brit! Why doesn't she quote ESA sources? No...instead she quotes an organization that has been polluted by the pseudo science of idiots like Gore.

  • good work here

  • interesting video and very informative

  • Very short clip:

Notice the graph of total Greenland ice mass:

Greenland Ice Sheet Mass Changes (2003-2009) [720p]

  • current CO2 levels are at 389 ppm and rising. it wont be long before antarctica begins to thaw as fast as greenland currently is, which btw is rising out of the sea at a rate of 1 inch per year. when antarctica thaws enough it too will rise out of the sea. it is connected to every tectonic plate around the world and will crack the earths crust. this isnt doomsday bull, this is science, and quite likely the worse threat facing mankind.

  • Like all the pro-agenda types, this was yet another fable blown out of utter proportion. Believers worship Gore who has consistently lied and played the slight of hand trick with selective data, he is now a Billionaire (genius) whilst we all get crucified by the governments through taxation (idiots). Unbelievable fact that people are so gullible and do not challenge these BS stories (the BBC being the worst through government control).

  • @nomorelies01 A fable NASA/NOAA support then.

  • @nomorelies01 How come you anti-science types are still obsessed with Al Gore? A little man-love thing going on there or what? He's not a scientist, he has never published a scientific paper nor has any scientist ever cited his book for data - but the anti-science types still cite him as a data source. Here's a question for you: In your own personal opinion, what specific evidence would have to be provided to convince you that AGW theory is correct?

  • this is SO OLD

  • man thos expeditions look so interesting, i'd love to be on one

  • wow Greenland might actually turn green. This is scary

  • HAHAHAHA BULLCRAP BULLCRAP BULLCRAP they will telle you anything to keep there million dollar grants FOOLS

  • I remember in the 70s they said the Sahara desert was growing by so many feet per yr and that it would swallow up Africa but guess what ? After monitoring it for a few yrs with the help of satelites they found that some years it receded and other yrs it advanced.

Exactly the same for GL which has permanent snowfall at the top compressing. Its sat on top of an indent & the ice is pushed off the edges like too much mash falling off the edge of a dinner plate, more sum yrs, less others.

  • What is NASA doing in some remote place in Greenland!? They need to be in SPPAAAACCEE

  • We have a Habit of Panicing & thinking that We're somehow Unatural & causing unatural things to happen!

Look, the Planet Warms.. Ice Caps Melt. Volcano's in Iceland Erupt with Devestating force, & Release Gases that refract the Sun back into Space - Planet cools again!

Mount Pinatubo was a VEI6 & released so much Material that it cooled the entire planet upto a whole degree for Years. So there's no need to panic. The Earth is designed perfectly.

  • @therealKINDLE What you are saying is essentially: It's okay to fuck ourselves over, other species will adapt.

  • hi, i have been visiting NE Greenland around the Scoresbysund and Mestersvig icecap areas on and off for the past 11 years. I am not a scientist nor affiliated to any particular cause. All i can tell you is that many of the glaciers are 20km away from where they are marked on the 1970's maps we sometimes take with us.

  • surfingcali69 wtf are you talking about?

  • Man is to stupid to care about anything other then what's in his face!

Good. Documentary for people who care , and can think outside their little box

  • how can ice melt when the temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit?

  • @floridaman2000 Good point. The Sun is entering a Grand Minimum and the climate will have no option but to cool.

  • @david222444 english please i do not understand what you are talking about i dont speak science-ease

  • @floridaman2000 OK the video above is crap. The Sun has gone inactive which will result in abrupt and longterm Global Cooling ie its gonna get fn freezing in winters to come.

  • I can't stand people who talk about something that they think they know, when they don't. Do your homework before you open your mouth! I see people do this ALL the time. It's not just about a specific subject, it's everything. It's like everyone has a guru syndrome or something.

  • MMMMMM.... Ramon noodles. Hey turn off that cook stove. Your melting the ice. Seriously, ice melts, waters rise. Let's still focus on get green tech moving. Either way, it's still a good idea to reduce oil consumption.

  • People, Relax , the Arctic areas have melted before ! There are many Peer Reviewed Studies that show this . Bing SCIENCESKEPTICAL MWP. Yes it was warmer before today. Al Gore and the IPPC cannot change that.

  • @camcheck references for your peer reviewed studies please?

  • I want to be able to swim in the summer, at the arctic circle. That would be great. It would also help bring down the price of bananas in Pangnirtung.

  • I believe this now, with the recent pole shift. scary that the glaciers are melting.

  • hey, believe whatever you want to believe. you can pretend its not happening if you want. besides, you'll be dead before New York is underwater , but don't worry, you will be remembered as the people who didn't care about the planet / children / future.

Suit yourselves. Besides, its too late. Nothing YOU can do will ever stop this process.

  • @tasman763 But we do care about the future of the planet, and our childrens children. We don't want them living in a world run by facsistic dictators like those neccessary to impose the regulations you will claim to be neeeded to save the stupid little people from their foolishness.

    Fuck off.

  • how come ppl on this vid are saying its not happend yet as if thats a surprise? no one ever said it would.. it may someday

  • this is fucking ridicoulus man this is not what we hear on our mainstream media back home in the us i guess they will tell us 2012 is real after all.... well after the nov 2 2010 elections this sum bullshit man america ain't man....

  • This video is ancient....and guess what? Greenland is perfectly fine still today. It was all hype, no facts.

  • @TheSnoody Greenland is still melting:

"The ice is melting so fast in Greenland that the giant island is rising noticeably as the weight is lifted. In some spots, the land is rising 1 inch per year." (18.5.2010, Live Science)

"New research has been published examining the pattern of mass loss over the entire Greenland ice sheet. ...Mass loss has been spreading up along the northwest coast of Greenland, starting in late 2005." (Search "Greenland’s ice mass loss has spread to the northwest")

  • @starrdreams Good man, good man.

  • @TheSnoody

Ancient?! I suppose if you're 4 years old then you might consider it ancient.

  • @TheSnoody Oh god you're stupid. Is this really so complicated for your tiny brain? What part of "It's happening over a span of many years" don't you understand?

  • @TheSnoody actually ice melt is accelerating.

  • @TheSnoody Wow incredibly stupid comment.

  • OOOH NOOES! The Ice is melting in APRIL!

  • @purechaos2000 What ever shall we do?!

Lol. All those clips of huge blocks of snow/ice falling are always taken in summer or spring...

  • its only getting worse!!!!

  • not false true!

  • I have to say all the commenters here are pretty stupid if they think tht they can poo poo 30 years of data and research just by saying yeah its crap. Get a life and a job

  • This has been proven false already. Yes they lied again.

  • These are just words from some blogs, not science.

  • @starrdreams

Exactly. 99.99% of global warming deniers are a bunch of uneducated idiots who get a hard on from fighting the consensus, rather than actual experts who are just skeptical.

  • Are you an shill for the hydrocarbon industry?

    Who pays your check?

  • @Mournbalde its only getting worse!!

  • This is 5 years old, if you look now there normal again.

  • @iDIMi Where did you look?

I read in New Scientist (November 21, 2009):

"Greenland lost 1500 cubic kilometres of ice between 2000 and 2008, making it responsible for one-sixth of global sea-level rise. Even worse, there are signs that the rate of ice loss is increasing."

  • @iDIMi If only that were true :(

MSNBC has an article up "Greenlands ice melt widens" dated March 23, 2010:

    ---

Melt along the southern edge of Greenland's ice sheet is now moving up its northwest coast, a new study shows. "The ice mass loss has been very dramatic" since 2005, John Wahr [...] said in a statement. [...] "These changes on the Greenland ice sheet are happening fast, and we are definitely losing more ice mass than we had anticipated," added co-author Isabella Velicogna

    ---

  • @iDIMi

Oh wow the concentration of stupidity in this comment is off the charts.

  • @iDIMi if you look again, sunspot activity is now normal too.

  • The process is not linear. Its starts very slowly and unnoticed. In the and-phase it will be so rapid, that people wouldnt even be able to react. And the deluded ones, who believe the entire issues is perpetuated by some secret world government, are even making things worse. As if climate change would be in the interest of the big corporations.

  • The core issue is Energy Risk. Are fossil fuels a safe, risk-free energy source for the next century? Can a responsible due diligence study prove that fossil fuels are risk free? So far, their safety has not been proven. It is clear that a commitment to fossil fuels will end up doubling atmospheric carbon dioxide. If climate disaster is the result, there's no going back. The consequences of betting on fossil fuel safety and being wrong are incalculably bad. It's a bet we can't afford.

  • May 2009 U. S. Senate Minority Report: More Than 700 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims Scientists Continue to Debunk Consensus in 2008 & 2009.

  • can you say climategate....?

    global warming is BS...

they are politicizing science. Not good for your wallet

  • Read more those blogs :)

  • @starrdreams Antarctic ice has been increasing and the extent last year was the greatest in the satellitemonitoring era. We are running ahead of last years record pace.

What will it take for the media to let go of their biases and begin doing their job, reporting the truth?

  • @starrdreams Warmer ocean cycles are periods with diminished Arctic ice cover. When the oceans were warm in the 1930s to the 1950s, Arctic ice diminished and Greenland warmed. The recent ocean warming, especially in the 1980s to the early 2000s, is similar to what took place 70 years ago and the Arctic ice has reacted much the same way, with diminished summer ice extent.

  • @starrdreams The multidecadal cycles in the ocean correlate extremely well with the solar cycles and global temperatures. These are 60 to 70 year cycles that relate to natural variations in the largescale circulations.

  • @starrdreams In all these ways the sun warms the planet more when it is active. An active sun in the 1930s and again near the end of the last century helped produce the observed warming periods. The current solar cycle is the longest in over 100 years, an unmistakable sign of a cooling sun that historical patterns suggest will stay so for decades.

  • @starrdreams More important though are the indirect effects. Ultraviolet radiation increases much more than the brightness and causes increased ozone production, which generates heat in the high atmosphere that works its way down, affecting the weather. Also, an active sun diffuses cosmic rays, which play an important role in nucleation of low clouds, resulting in fewer clouds.

  • @starrdreams The sun has both direct and indirect effects on our climate. Solar activity changes on cycles of 11 years and longer. When the sun is more active it is brighter and a little hotter.

  • @starrdreams Indeed, greenhouse models show the warming should be greatest at mid to high atmosphere levels in the tropics. But balloon and satellite observations show cooling there. The greenhouse signature or DNA does not match reality, and the greenhouse models thus must greatly overstate the warming and in a court of law would have to be acquitted of any role in global warming.

  • @starrdreams Most of the warming in the climate models comes from the assumption that water vapor and precipitation increase as temperatures warm, a strong positive feedback. Water vapor is a far more important greenhouse gas than CO2. However, that assumption has been shown in observations and peerreviewed research to be wrong, and in fact water vapor and precipitation act as a negative feedback that reduces any small greenhouse warming from carbon dioxide.

  • @starrdreams Temperature changes lead, not lag, CO2 changes on all time scales. The oceans may play a key role, emitting carbon dioxide when they warm as carbonated beverages lose fizz as they warm and absorbing it as they cool.

  • @starrdreams Reconstruction of paleoclimatological CO2 concentrations demonstrates that carbon dioxide concentration today is near its lowest level since the Cambrian Era some 550 million years ago, when there was almost 20 times as much CO2 in the atmosphere as there is today without causing a runaway greenhouse effect.

  • @starrdreams CO2 has been totally uncorrelated with temperature over the last decade, and significantly negative since 2002. CO2 is not a pollutant, but a naturally occurring gas. Together with chlorophyll and sunlight, it is an essential ingredient in photosynthesis and is, accordingly, plant food.

  • @starrdreams Here are some FACTS you can try and wrap your brain around..... go ahead and spend some time and try to prove them wrong....

Temperatures have been cooling since 2002, even as carbon dioxide has continued to rise. Carbon dioxide is a trace gas and by itself will produce little warming. Also, as CO2 increases, the incremental warming is less, as the effect is logarithmic so the more CO2, the less warming it produces.

  • @lebinjctn True that they are 'politicizing science' as you say, but with almost one trillion tons of carbon dioxide having been released into the atmosphere over the past century, Global Warming is undoubtedly going to happen. Does anybody really believe that we can continue pour that amount of gas (which is a warming gas as opposed to oxygen) into the atmosphere and see no change? Most importantly, we only have one earth so theres not really much room for error here is there.

  • @Findiglay To answer your question YES. Carbon Dioxide makes up 0.0036 % of our atmosphere. A trace amount. Has it increased in the last century? Yes it has increased by 0.009%. Carbon Dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere is NOT a leading indicator of increasing temperature. It is the opposite. Carbon Dioxide concentrations lag temperature increase.

  • @lebinjctn This is true, Carbon Dioxide only makes up 0.0036% of the atmosphere - all these chemicals in the atmosphere are maintained through a very delicate balance. Consider that Carbon Dioxide levels of just 3% are toxic to human lungs and you might start to understand that just 0.009% can be significant.

  • @Findiglay you might as well give it up.... the global warming hoax is over. Debunked. There is no proof anywhere that links increased levels of Carbon Dioxide to warming temps. This video is old.... Find one that is recent that gives proof the ice cap on Greenland is melting....

  • @Findiglay Wow! Right on!!! Great observation, the most sound comment I've read on this page. lol/ The rest of these other people are hilarious. Got a good laugh out them though.

  • @lebinjctn

The only people politicizing global warming are the deniers. The profits of the oil and coal industry make the "green industry" look like nothing. Stop sucking corporate dick.

  • @lebinjctn Warm oceans correlate with warm global temperatures. The Pacific started cooling in the late 1990s and it accelerated in the last year, and the Atlantic has cooled from its peak in 2004. This supports the observed global land temperature cooling, which is strongly correlated with ocean heat content. Newly deployed N.O.A.A. buoys confirm global ocean cooling.

  • As of 2009

Perito Moreno Glacier, largest glacier in Argentina, is growing.

Pio XI Glacier, largest glacier in Chile, is growing.

Glaciers growing on Mt. Logan, the tallest mountain in Canada.

Glaciers growing on Mt. Blanc, the tallest mountain in France.

Glaciers (230 of them) are growing in the Western Himalayas.

    Glaciers are growing in Norway.

Recently, all 50 glaciers in New Zealand were growing.

The Greenland Ice Sheet is growing thicker.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet is also growing.

  • @FreeAgain2

kindly specify your sources for these claims

  • ice age now. com

Author Robert Felix collects and presents Ice data from around the world.

  • Arguments from denialist are gowing thicker but fortunately their ranks are thinning.

  • Wormwood is why the ice melts nuclear waste!!!. Scott (BUG)

  • thank you john

  • We are constantly in orbit around the sun, we are slowly moving towards the sun, gravitational pull, the earth does not revolve on a perfect axis, Oscillation ,all these things indicate change in climate. ???

  • No, all these things can' t be only the reason of today's changes in the climate.

  • I live in Melbourne, Australia, it is a coastal city and yet our rain fall has steadily declined for the last 10 years, however it is decidedly cooler over the last 2 years, Yet we had a record hot day of 46 C.There is no defining pattern to the weather. and yet we are only 3 hrs flight time from the Antarctic... I believe there is no fixed pattern to weather, everyday is a new day..... In retrospect to the age of the earth, this warm period is nothing but a blink...

  • Exactly - if you look at what climate changes happened in Earth's lifetime and how fast, you will find that period of human's activity is clearly different.

  • Information on these matters is very conflicting, we receive reports Antarctic is melting on the East coast , however it is lenghtening on the west coast ??? Last years report stated snow fall was the heaviest ever recorded....Go figure ??? It is hard to imagine that humans who occupy less than 10% of land, and land being only 30% of the earths size could have this effect. ?

  • Don't look at East coast and West coast separately. Science is saying, that in total Antarctic is losing mass.

Regarding of increased snow fall - that is exactly what was predicted earlier as effect of Climate Change or Global Warming.

  • we are going through a climate shift. On average it is warming, but not every year will be warmer then the previous. Will get more extreme heat waves, and more extreme winters. But overall it is warming. If the ice shelf melts on green land it could shut downt he north atlantic ocean current and put the northern hemisphere into an ice age. As the ocean current is what brings us the heat up north. Its all about salt solution in the ocean that drives the current. I suggest watching "the big chill"

  • I know the weather pattern down your way is concerning and if the industrial world is responsible for the change, we need to attend to it immediately, I think we are doing what we we can, because if you consider the expense globally you would not want to be wrong !! However back in Australia, our overnight temps are not as low and our daily temps not as high ??? confusing to say the least......??

  • yes but even if everyone stopped driving their cars tomorrow and all power plants shut down. It would do nothing for global warming. The earth would still continue to raise in temp. the ice caps would still continue to melt. This is a cycle that the earth goes through all the time. Thats why there are many ice ages. It is out of our control. All we can do is sit back and try to survive it. Then learn and be preprared for the next one. Dont live in spots that will get hit the worst.

  • happy thought. but this "blink" is a pretty big deal to us now . :)

  • Unfortunately this blink maybe 100....200 years long and where this ride takes us is anyones guess ????... Facts are, CO2 levels have been this high before, before the industrial age ????

  • @johnscomment I agree... the earths does not revolve on a perfect axis. It is called precession. Also our sun goes thru cycles of increased activity. I mean come on.... what really warms our earth? It is that big yellow ball in the sky for half the day.

  • @lebinjctn While the sun does cycle. it's not the only factor. Our atmosphere is the the biggest warming factor. I don't know enough about global warming to disprove anything about it. I do know that we are seeing major rises in ocean temperature, the ice packs are melting at faster than usual rates and climates are changing. I personally think that it's just a cycle. The universe always finds balance.

  • then go back to school

  • man i would love this job..

  • WATCH A GOOGLE MOVIE called.... "The Great Global Warming Swindle" AND OPEN YOUR EYES to the TRUTH...

  • THEN watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle - ABC debates"

And open your eyes to the BS peddled by the makers of "The Great Global Warming Swindle"

  • LOL ABC??? LOL you mean the main stream controled media? Why don't you search CFR controled media. Also look up OPERATION MOCKING BIRD. And TURN OFF YOUR TV! Its not called programing for no reason. Also Mars, Jupiter and Staurns ice caps are melting also. Does CO2 on earth cause that?

  • Sorry, Jupiter and Saturn DON'T HAVE ice caps.

  • Mars has ice caps and its a proven scientific fact that they are melting and Saturn and Jupiter along with everything else is heating up. So the fact the earth is heating up also is part of a cycle. The sun warms up then it cools down over and over and we are headed for a cooling period now hence the record cold temperartures this year. Please go see on youtube Alex Jones interview with David D. Rothschild. They are behind all the fear mongering. The finance this whole global warming scam.

  • Is Venus heating up? If not, WHY not. If it's a system wide phenomenon then ALL planets must heat up -- not just a few

WHY are these other planets heating up? For the same reason as earth? If not, then what does it have to do with anything?

  • ArkDiscoverydotCOM, You need to do a google news search for photo records of melting glaciers.

No one can learn for you. It is an individual responsibility.

  • enigma... Mars ice is melting also. Enigma glaciers melt then freeze over and over for 1000s of years. I would expect to see an endless supply of melting glaciers which is perfectly normal. Please if you want to know the truth just listen to the interview between David Rothschild and Alex Jones on youtube. The Rothschild family finances the whole global warming fraud. RESEARCH THIS... "EUGENICS".

  • I'll believe what NASA says, as opposed to any lay person's opinion!

  • did he say 1 foot a day?

If so that is awsome. If it were to have a massive chunk break off and melt it would stop the current and cause a ice age. Which would then complete the cycle. The one that has been going on since the begging. Which is also not our fualt. We cannot stop it, it will happen over and over again. We did not cuase global warming.

  • "The temperature is well below zero"

Then a winter temperature increase of 6 degrees will hardly cause melting.

  • Instead of making erroneous statements of "fact" about a field of study of which you are ENTIRELY ignorant -- why don't you contact a glaciologist and ASK how this is possible

  • BeondaPale-At what temperature does fresh water ice melt?

  • So you're NOT going try to find the answer for yourself. Oh well...

Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit,

    BUT..

AIR is a very poor absorber of solar radiation, while objects on the earth's surface are much better at absorbing solar radiation. Even ice with its very high reflective ability is better at absorbing of solar radiation than the air is. While an air thermometer might read temperatures below freezing, the sun's radiation can still warm a percentage of the ice above freezing

  • Global warming - not - it's local volcanic activity.

  • Volcanos -- on GREENLAND???

  • BeondaPale- See the report "Record of Volcanism Since 7000 B.C. from the GISP2 Greenland Ice Core and Implications for the Volcano-Climate System"

  • Wait -- Did you actually read what you are attempting to use as evidence to support volcanism as the source of increased glacial melt in Greenland?

This study says that increased volcanism in the EARLY Holocene may have contributed to climatic COOLING during THAT period. - 5000 to 7000 BC

That is what increased volcanism does. volcanoes spew particles into the atmosphere that BLOCK the sun's energy.
