I'm not amharic we just share the alphabet XD That language is connected to an ancient alphabet Geez and similar to how Latin created French Spanish and Italian, Geez created Amharic Tigre and Tigrinya and they are backwards in order of how close they are to the original language [Like Italian-Latin, Tigrinya-Geez].
But I think you should also learn Swahili if you can, you'll be more cultured and also it'll make me happy and a LOT of ppl speak it. I will too someday!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH YOU SKIPPED MY ENTIRE CONTINENT *faints of of grief* At least South America there is spanish in a couple countries T__T I guess arabic is in Africa too. You don't want to learn even Swahili or any bantu language? The motherland of all languages ;D;;; ?! Or an african-semetic language or Amharic?? Amharic is definitely easy and the alphabet you can learn so quickly [learned for me in 2 months for my language!] Swahili and Amharic are very friendly. Swahili has 80 million ppl!♥
@loki2504 are you focusing on Japanese now? I was wondering if it's a good idea to learn more than one at a time? I can't figure it out. But I remember some study saying learning one language stimulates progress in another =) Oh, and how long does it take you to be able to reach conversational language in a new language? thanks ^^
@istase2000 Yes I'm focusing on japanese and just that. I think learn one by one is the best way to obtain an intermediate level ! How long? it depends on the language: italian 4 month, japanese 3 years xD
What about French? Are you fluent in it or have some knowledge of the language? J'apprends le français pour deux ans en l'école..but of course it's slow learning there so I've been studying it on my own for a while now. I want to learn Korean as well, and actually I'm studying it alongside French right now. Nice list though! I just ran across laoshu's & your vids and I have to say you guys inspire me to keep studying..and actually learning the other 7 or so languages I'm curious of ^_^.
@Eddeux994 Salut !
Seeing you have a wide knowing of languages, I'd like to ask you, out of curiosity, if you know something about my second native language, Catalan. Most foreigners who I ask don't even know it exists hehe

Well I think I'll learn russian first and then switch to polish because I have more russian speaking friends around me but yeah my city if full of polish native speakers so it shouldn't be a problem to pratice !
@bebedagely Well I meant I won't study too many languages at the same time, I like to focus on one language and move to the next one when I feel confident in this language
now, i'm probably going to do an interrail in the future and visiting brussels would be a must. would be great to meet up for say, a café normale (just like you taught in your video xD) or something ! i really need to get better at french.
i wish you all the best !
Jonne
ps. what are you majoring in the university, if i may ask?
Scripts aside, I think Polish and Russian are more difficult than Japanese or Chinese, grammatically at least. Slavic languages have very complex inflection systems, especially compared to Romance and Germanic families, but I think that makes them both intimidating and alluring.. I might take Russian in college.
Lol. In the end: "I don't want to learn too many because I don't have the time to do it." Umm, "too many"? Do you know how many languages you pointed out in this video? I lost count around the time you mentioned Polish and Russian so I don't know myself. But dude, that's what I would like to call a LOT of languages. ;)
Anyway, hope you manage to learn them all really well. It's not an easy task, since they are so many.
Well, you're right ! I'm going to learn one by one and I will invest at least 2 years in each language ^_^,
I don't have enough resources for estonian so if I learn it I'll stay on a pretty limited level. Do you know any good resource for it??? I mean books for each level?
WOW, you're going to be a multilingualist, I have never seen a person who'd like to learn so many languages :) Did you know Pope John Paul II knew 10 languages and Uku Masing (Estonian philosopher) knew 65 languages?
@BelligerentPacifist: Well I decided to avoid learning african languages for one unique reason: a lack of resources... They almost don't publish books for foreigners who are interested in their language... But with arabic or japanese (or russian) you'll find so many resources !
