Although Greg occasionally played both acoustic and electronic guitars, for example in this song, the bass line belonged to Emerson who played it with his left hand while Greg played his guitar solo
@marczellm Greg played some very nice acoustic numbers. I think there was more diversity to this band than to any other threesomes (Rush is a close second). One minute Keith is tearing it up on his keyboards, be it the piano or his organ/synth ensemble and the next minute Greg is playing something that has an extreme amount of feeling and harmony. Greg played plenty of guitar and did a damn fine job of it.
It would have been interesting to have seen Hendrix in the mix, but it would not have been the same. These guys defined progressive rock and lead many other bands down a far out road, and thank God for Robert Moog.
Whoa! A blast from the past, man does Bonilla looks and sounds like Greeg back in the golden years... one hell of a crew Keith! I know it's been a while since but still hope you guys make it to Montreal in near future.
pretty good. I hope keith recovers more & visits the US, I would buy airline tickets to go see him if I had to, though. lol I have been an ELP fan since I was a kid.
:) That old Moog is a part of music history and KE. While he only uses it briefly now it has a certain charm an character you won't get from the new "digitals" Besides it makes for a cool visual on the stage :). I guess synth "geeks" get a bigger kick out of it than anyone else.
I saw this tour when it came throug town, fun night, great performance.
They do a great job of capturing the spirit of the original - and KE is looking pretty good for 62! But he's still schlepping around that old Moog that looks like a drunken night between an air conditioner and a phone booth?
UNREAL!! ARTSAKE: I have waited for over well over ten years to see Bonilla play, and you have made that possible. He plays live in my area so rarely (NorCal) that I doubt I'll ever have a chance to see him live. So this is the next best thing. Thank you so VERY much!!
ELP, Long Beach Arena, Feb. 3, 1974. One of the best shows ever. This rendition is as good as what I heard back then and Bonilla's voice is just EERIE in it's resemblance to Lake's. Great to see Keith looking and playing so well!
I was lucky enough to see this band play at the London Astoria in September 2006. I don't think they'll do much more touring, so I'm chuffed I got to see Emerson play at all. Marc Bonilla is amazing too.
I thought that it was interesting to see his modular Moog and Korg Oasys, the oldest and newest synths side by side. I've heard he's trouble by arthritis, and I almost thought I heard a slip up at about 1:35. The father of progressive rock is still the best and most tasteful musically!
there really should've been a camera behind mr emerson... don't ya think? the producers of this show might've realized that most people watching the band want to see those rapid fingers fly?
otherwise.. good to see the new band playing well.
Flawless. Greg Lake voice renedetion was perfect. Go Marc.

@a3d3 Greg Lake played plenty of guitar in this unusual band where these three guys played some music that was cutting edge.

Mark bonilla sure sings this better than Greg lake ever did. Lake used to just scream this song.
Emerson does pretty good considering his right hand is so crippled now.

Man you can see in the video that Keith has some difficulties pulling some parts because of his hands surgery :( Poor Keith.
Still a great version of Karn Evil 9 First Impression Part 2 :)

Emerson, you need to put out this tour as a live album. I would be AWESOME ! Best sounding K E lineup in years. Bonilla is fantastic.

This sounds much more lively than ELP has in the past twenty years. I saw them live in 1992 and deeply disappointed.
This approaches the vibrance and spirit of the 70's ELP performances.
I said approaches, by the way.

Were Keith Emerson and Marc Bonilla separated on birth? Just kidding but indeed I find them really similar one to each other.
I like ELP a lot and was very happy to see this video. Thanks! Hopes more of this stuff shows up on the youtube!

Thanks for the video!

Indeed he sounds better than Lake does today. Keith it seems doesn't need ELP. This band suits him just fine.

Unfortunately, most R&R videograhpers are clueless about showcasing keyboardists; guitarists and vocalists are so much easier.
Aside from that complaint-it was surprisingly good.
