@Smokie181 its simply just physics, metal can stretch like anything else can even tho most people dont believe it, like on my sport bikes, after a while of use the chain stretches and i either have to move the tire back (to "tighten" the chain) or replace it, even concrete "inflates" if blown up from the inside, but its just not as noticeable

This is a rubber gas grenade; a fragmentation grenade caught on high-speed might swell slightly, but there would be cracking before it completely comes apart.

Hmm...I would guess, the explosive is burning inside the casing a lot faster than the solid metal casing is expanding. In fact, true explosives burn faster than the speed of sound in the given material, that´s the definition (anything less is deflagration), so it burns up before the explosives themselves start expanding. What we see is the time it takes for sufficient pressure to build up, until the casing ruptures. Right in the end you see the actual expanding gases. very fast.
