I have seen and heard a wolf here. Today just past noon my dog was killed by a wolf less than 6' from the door with me right there. The point of the video is that today's "controlled hunts" often inevitably lead to extinction or placing of a species on the endangered list. At one time people in this country complained there were too many buffalo and we would just start killing them to thin their ranks, and then we would stop. That didn't work out too well (at least not for the buffalo). Then there's the example of the carrier pigeon in the video. Afterwards people can say, geez, we didn't mean to wipe them out. It's sad.

I was about one mile away from the wolf as it was across i few hills on a mountain. We spotted it and didnt mind it and kept going on our way. About an hour later we here a shuffling behind us and see the wolf growling at us. Since i knew it was wolf territory i was carrying a 44. revolver. The wolf started circling us and charged.

The point of the video is that today's "controlled hunts" often inevitably lead to extinction or placing of a species on the endangered list. At one time people in this country complained there were too many buffalo and we would just start killing them to thin their ranks, and then we would stop. That didn't work out too well (at least not for the buffalo). Then there's the example of the carrier pigeon in the video. Afterwards people can say, geez, we didn't mean to wipe them out. It's sad.

I was about one mile away from the wolf as it was across i few hills on a mountain. We spotted it and didnt mind it and kept going on our way. About an hour later we here a shuffling behind us and see the wolf growling at us. Since i knew it was wolf territory i was carrying a 44. revolver. The wolf started circling us and charged.

how do I help? sara palin is really idiodic for killing wolves, especially since these wolves did nothing wrong. they kill them for sport. its not just poaching. its MURDER!!! i made a video to stop shark finning, and all of the comments I will make as a petition. the wolf killing makes me so mad i want to go to alaska and MAKE them stop.

Wolves in certain areas of Alaska are hunted so that caribou and moose populations remain at levels that support the subsistence nature of rural Alaskan's.
These wolves are not hunted for sport, and the lack of roads in AK make aerial hunting the only effective method of preserving a critical food source for our fellow Americans.
Wolves are cool, but the well being of our fellow H Sapiens should come first.

You shouldn't make videos on things you know nothing about. You compare predator management to killing gorillas for ash trays. Come on. Our wild life in North America is very well managed. Your one of those who wants people to believe that wolves are almost extinct. The truth is that You and I have changed the ecosystem and the food chain so its our responsibility to manage it. There is not as much prey, thus less need for a rapidly breeding apex predator. Wolves must be kept in check.

This guy is an idiot. If you say that the wolves in Alaska belong to everyone and you care about them, why don't you give a crap about the caribou population or the elk population. Theres a difference between killing an animal that is nearly extinct like the gorilla, and managing a predator with controlled hunts. The way North America is now managing its 70,000 grey wolves is the only responsible thing to do.
