Sorry about the delay on getting back to you. Well, first, it's a BetaMax. It actually works, but does so very sluggish, as though it needs a good cleaning and lube, which is what I took it to Rubystan for in the first place. Can you actually fix a Beta deck? They are really different from regular VCR's. Let me know. I'll try to be more quick on my response back.
@thelazycomic other than the speed they are the same guts wise they have a head that spins. and 2 arms that pull the tape around the head. this could have some buildup on it. if you still would like to get it cleaned let me know i will get the cleaning products together. If you want and have some extra time you can even watch me do it.
Hell, why bother? At the rate they are burning Glassport down? They keep setting fires to the vacant buildings, and I believe there is one next door. Besides, 406 people, (as of right now), have seen this video. That's 406 people who now know not to go there. That's a lot more money lost than their deductible probably is for a new window.
I got my unit back from them last summer when I did the video. The problem was, they didn't do a damned thing to it, and charged me $50.00 to do nothing. This store used to have way better ethics than this, but I don't think too many people are ethical these days. There are a few here and there, but the turds out-weigh them for sure.
The question you should be be asking YOURSELF is: "Could there be a repair shop that is closer to my home in Atlanta?" For being "Lazy", you seem to make a simple errand very complicated.
I used to live in the area, and visit a couple of times a year with my Dad. I had used Rubystan TV Repairs in the past and was always happy with the work. I never expected this to happen. I thought they were honest. Guess not. (And actually, I am not Lazy at all... as a kid, my parents always said I was lazy... as most kids are). But trust me, I am far from lazy. Complicated? Well, it wasn't SUPPOSED to be... but who knew that the shop's ethics had changed?
Oh, as for Atlanta, this town has more stupid people per square mile than you can imagine. The post office loses mail constantly here, (more than the usual amount), you ask for extra onions on your burger, you get none... yes, people here are stupid, and I for one, am stupid for moving here. I wouldn't trust one fo the repair shops here to fix anything. Period. (Where the hell is General Sherman when you need him) ????
What is wrong with it? i used to fix VCR's in Best buy years ago. If your up in pittsburgh sometime i would take a look at it for you.
